While visiting Killarney to ride the jaunting cars around the national park, I was recommended Murphy's Ice Cream by my tour guide. Ice cream is one of my many favorite types of desserts, and since County Kerry's cows are known for producing extra rich and creamy milk, I was really excited to get extremely creamed. The shop was very bright with a simple and natural design. They had some unique flavors like Honeycomb Caramel, Dingle Sea Salt, and Irish Brown Bread. The scoopers who helped me were very friendly and let me try as many flavors as I wanted. I finally decided on getting a small size of the Dingle Sea Salt and Kieran's Cookies in a cup. The ice cream was sweet and delicate, the Dingle Sea Salt had a very light salted vanilla flavor and Kieran's Cookies were like an Irish cookies n' creme. Because of all the hype on the creamiest milk being produced from around the county, I was getting ready for a creamsplosion up my yapper, but after my first lapping, I didn't think that that my scoops were as rich and creamy as other frozen novelties I've had the pleasure of savoring. But because their ice cream is said to be very natural, using only fresh ingredients from around Ireland, it might just be that my taste buds are already accustomed to over-processed artificial ingredients!
Visiting Ireland for the first time, I did my best to read up on good places to grab dessert in Killarney and Murphy's Ice Cream popped up on a few lists, Reddit posts, so I put it on my list to try and I'm very glad I did! I walked in on a Saturday evening, around 7:45pm. Inside the shop was clean, bright, and cozy. It's very small, with a table and some spots to stand but it seems it's more about grabbing what you like and walking back out. The young ladies behind the coolers were incredibly fun and friendly, even a little flirty, making it a fun experience! I decided on getting a medium bowl but ordered three flavors: Chocolate Whiskey (Teeling Whiskey), Kieran's Cookies, and Irish Brown Bread. Chocolate Whiskey was nice and chocolate-y with a little kick to it. Kieran's Cookies was good with plenty of crunchy cookie bits within. My favorite scoop though was Irish Brown Bread, which was the right level of sweetness and had a good, well-balanced flavor. The size of the scoops could be seen as on the smaller-side, but I was pleased with what I got since I had eaten dinner shortly beforehand. Murphy's Ice Cream was excellent. I loved how happy and fun the ladies were and the list of flavors was perfect, encompassing all palettes! If I come back to Ireland again, I'll certainly be on the lookout for Murphy's to satiate any ice cream craving I have.
Our family of 10 came to Ireland for 10 days and we happened upon Murphy's Ice Cream during a walk downtown. They were giving samples out and the names of the ice cream is what drew me in. Irish whiskey, honeycomb, dingle salt, and of course the usual flavors. Delicious ice cream!!
Fabulous ice cream made with just pure Irish cream, eggs and love. The honeycomb caramel and the Dingle salt was so delicious. I wished they were open by me in Austin, Texas. I was told they're opening in Florida and if you're the owner and reading this, please come to Austin, Texas. I promise you won't regret it!!!
The service here was amazing and super friendly. When you walk in, you are immediately greeted by one of the staff and are given samples of the ice cream flavors. The shop itself is small but cute. It got pretty busy after 9pm. The ice cream itself was good. I got the salted caramel and cookie dough. My friend got the chocolate whiskey. I'd definitely come back here solely for the service! Our staff member even took our picture by the cute photo backdrop.
This is easily the best ice cream I've ever had. I saw it along Instagram one day and instantly knew I had to try it when we traveled to Ireland. 6 days in Ireland and I had it each night. The staff was incredible and let you try whatever you wanted. Each ice cream was better than the next. Such a cute, cozy store front. I've dreamt about this multiple times since we have been back home.
We stopped in after dinner and I'm so happy we did! First off the ice-cream is so yummy not insanely sweet but a good creamy flavor that you can't get anywhere else. Second, the staff was phenomenal. Sam helped us and gave us some pointers on our plans for the week which was so helpful! Definitely recommend a visit! Also super accessible from the street.
Local ice cream joint in Killarney checks all the right boxes. Great ice cream, friendly service, and nice prices. The flavors are all local and Irish based but I stuck with a chocolate and it was great. It kind of reminded me of Baskin Robbins back in the US with trying all you want before you buy. That alone should qualify for a good review.
On each trip our goal is to find the best local ice cream. There were a few to choose from in Killarney and we decided to try Murphy's. They had about a dozen or so unique flavors (including a few with alcohol) to offer. A "hostess" offered to let us sample some to make the right choice. I got a cup with Irish strawberry and Irish brown bread. The flavors were on the mild side but blended well. Murphy's was a good choice tonight! Definitely recommend!
This place is too good. You must make a stop here when in Killarney and try the Dingle Sea Salt Ice Cream. It's perfect. The chocolate was also fantastic and not too sweet. The super friendly ladies working there make the experience even better!
Stopped in for something sweet after dinner, Lydia & Sam were extremely helpful & friendly. They offered samples and gave recommendations on what flavors would mix well too. My friend has an allergy to cinnamon and when she asked if it was in the cone, the pulled out the box to check and allow her to check if it was in the cone.
Great ice cream and friendly employees! They had a free sample waiting at the door when you enter and they encouraged samples when you came in. The employees were very talkative and welcoming. You can choose multiple flavors, even in a small! I finally chose the Kieran's Cookies and the Chocolate Whiskey, and it did not disappoint. The only downside is it is a bit on the pricey side.
Murphy's totally lives up to the hype. Tried the most popular flavor Dingle sea salt and then cookies n cream. They get the salt specifically from Dingle and put just a tiny touch of it in their vanilla ice cream and it has quite frankly become my new obsession. Really hope they have a Murphy's at my next stop. Well worth the visit I if you're in Killarney. Super friendly staff.

Murphy's is my new favorite ice cream spot! Their flavors are so unique and the staff in each location have been so kind. Be sure to sample a variety of flavors since you can add two kinds to a small cup or cone. I'm amazed at how unique each location has been. Murphy's is the best! read more

More unique flavors than I've seen in all of Ireland! Between the three of us, we got Dingle Sea Salt, Silky Smoothe Chocolate, and Irish Coffee, made with real Jameson Whiskey. We also tried one that was made with Fennel which was very fresh but also very green. I loved their adventurousness, and I enjoyed myself very much. They didn't have a standard Vanilla option, which is fone with me as an adventurous person but some of mt family members were dissappointed with that or the lack of standard variety. read more
Loved this placed! Their ice cream is still handmade with the basics and no fillers. Great ice cream pairing options as well. Ice cream flavor and texture is soft, light, creamy with minimal added sugar. Located right heart of a busy row of restaurants, shopping and everything else under the sun on High Street read more
This area is flooded with ice cream shops! Not sure which is the best though. It's also on the pricey side for the quantity. One tiny scoop for 4.50! Sampling - they are so generous. They will let you sample any flavor and as many as you want. I tried the caramel, sea salt, garlic and decided to ordered the Irish coffee and gin. There is alcohol in these! I'm surprised they didn't ask for ID. I loved that it wasn't overly sweet. I could definitely binge on these flavors. The garlic was very interesting - felt like I was eating cold garlic! Overall, unique flavors that I completely fancy but it will hurt your wallet. read more

Lovely ice cream shop in Killarney that uses all natural ingredients and has a good variety of flavors, many of which are uniquely Irish such as the Dingle sea salt, Irish brown bread, and a gin flavor. The small portion is actually small, which makes it a great way to end the evening no matter how much you ate for dinner. I did a combo of the sea salt and dark chocolate (which is vegan, but uses water instead of coconut milk as its base - because, as the friendly and charming scooper explained to me, "no coconut trees in Ireland!") which really hit the spot. Ice cream made so fresh and wholesome, you will surely will never if you are not enjoying a spoonful of what heaven must taste like with every lick. Whilst on our honeymoon, my wife and I had the pleasure of seeing many sites and cities in Ireland's south region, from Dublin to Killarney, to Cork and Galway. We did walk through quite a few villages and areas that had quite the assortment of confectioners. One of which, while in Killarney, was Murphy's Ice Cream. We had passed by once and did. It make that mistake the second time around the streets. Originally from the Dingle area, so we learned, Murphy's offers at least eight to twelve flavors at any given time, as well as special flavors that are a bit more pricy, however well worth it, as they are concoctions that one can only dream of. On this occasion, my wife and I first tried a couple until, like Rum Raisin and Carmel, until we of course ultimately chose Sticky Toffee Pudding. Holy cow this was a masterpiece. The clerk, who was so very kind and extremely generous to us, again being on our honeymoon, allowed us to first sample multiple flavors until we both came across this sweet thing of beauty. The flavors go on and on, and your palate I'll thank you over and over as the creamy and sweet vanilla, Carmel, sticky bits and other secrets come out throw each lick. Wow, I want more just think of it. Again, I must call out to the clerk and ice cream specialist, as she seemed to be. I did not catch her name, however she was so kind to my wife and I on our honeymoon. Serious praise to such service must be recognized each time one comes across I do feel. Thank you again and we both cannot sit to stop back or try the original location in the Dingle area. Cheers. read more

This store holds a special spot in my heart as it was where I was first introduced to the awesomeness that is Murphy's ice cream, when I first visited Ireland back on Aug 2014. This location has the friendliest staff! I tried seasalt and some other flavours but the Lavender and Honey deliciousness was calling my name and I loved the medley these two flavours created. My honeycomb had actual bits of its namesake in the ice-cream while the lavender tasted flowery but not in an overwhelming way. Absolutely recommend - as a side note, this along with Movenpick in Switzerland rank in my top places to eat ice-cream in Europe! Note: #262 of Yelp 100 challenge for 2016 read more

We missed going to Murphy's in Dingle but stumbled upon the Killarney location. There were a few people in front of us in line but the lady working was very efficient and moved through the line quickly while offering up free samples and giving recommendations. She really was quite remarkable. She offered me a sample of the Dingle sea salt ice cream. I'm not normally a fan of salty desserts but she insisted it was the one to try so I trusted her. It was so good! I ended up with a split cup of the Dingle sea salt and the handmade chocolate chip. It was delicious. I don't know why I was surprised - one of my favorite types of cookies to bake is a sea salt chocolate chip cookie! In retrospect, it makes perfect sense that this was a winning combination. Upstairs they have a few tables to eat at. The decor felt like a classic ice cream parlor. Even if you think it's too cold outside, go here anyways! It's that good. There is no excuse to not visit one of their locations (Dingle, Dublin, Killarney, etc). 5 stars. read more

Got the Aztec Hot Chocolate and it was pretty good...the spices were mostly in the bottom, but overall it tasted good. Perfect amount of cream and chocolate on top! Also tried the brown bread ice cream which was interesting because it actually tasted like brown bread! They do have white hot chocolate--not on the menu, but in the signs around the store and my friend and I were both sad that we did not notice it before. read more
