As an American, the ice cream pales in comparison to the richness that you can get in the US, but they have fun flavors and the sea salt they make by hand. I got the sea salt and Irish coffee. Good ice cream. We had read good reviews & gave it a try. They are open later than most places on the street The staff is friendly & having fun while working. There are a good mix of flavors. There was a yelp check-in deal but I forgot to use it after I checked in. This is a good place to hang out - they have games to play at the table. I wrote this review on Google earlier, but I want to keep spreading the good word! Was recommended this place from Brother Hubbard's guide, was one of the more affordable yet unique places to eat. I really love the layout of this place where once you go inside, someone greets you, asks what you would like to sample, and tells your information about the flavors WHILE you wait in line. One employee(I forgot her name, I'm sorry!) really connected with us, asking us about our day, what we've tried, where are we from. When she found out we were leaving Dublin the next day because I was going home to celebrate my birthday early, she and the founder's brother wished me an early happy birthday! The flavors we got, Kieran's cookies and smooth chocolate were FANTASTIC. I would describe Kieran's cookies as a glass of milk that has had many chocolate chip cookies dipped in it, and smooth chocolate is definitely made from great quality chocolate. I usually don't like chocolate ice cream that isn't dark chocolate, because it tastes chalky, but this one was creamy and delightful, I even liked it over their chocolate sorbet! REALLY recommend this place for the quality of the ice cream and the service. My next trip to Dublin, I will be back, even if it's in the dead of winter! read more

Very good. Although the ice cream isn't really smooth, it does have a nice richness in the mouthfeel that makes it a very enjoyable experience. I love that you can get a cone instead of a cup and they don't charge you extra! I think they increased the price though. It's €3.80 now instead of 3.50. Murphy's ice-cream...I'm just not sure there are enough superlatives to do it justice! The ice-cream here is silky-soft, milky and tastes sensational - I could eat cartons of the stuff if I was let!!! The sea-salt, the caramelised brown-bread, the blackberry sorbet, the coffee, the rum-and raisin and the butterscotch are some of the flavours I've tried and they are all to die for! I'm not exactly sure what it is they're feeding those cows down in Kerry that they source their milk from (moonlit, fairydust-sprinkled grass or something!) but by-God the ice-cream they've got going on here - it's prrrrreeeettty magic!!! read more

This place is amazing!! I was leading a group of students and they were very accommodating to us. They were friendly, helpful and because we were a big group, they didn't charge us for a couple of the cones, which was really unique. The ice cream itself is heavenly - I particularly enjoyed the caramel and butter scotch flavors! Come hungry because you will want to indulge hard here! Incredible ice creams and a great selection to choose from e.g. Dingle gin & brown bread among more traditional flavours e.g. Chocolate or mint. Ingredients are sourced local to Kerry. I even know the farmer that provides the milk! Murphy's is also based in Dingle, Co. Kerry so if you're down in that neck of the woods it is worth the visit. Nice to see businesses like this make a success. The ice-creams are by no means cheap but they certainly taste good! Also serving good coffee and treats as if the ice cream wasn't enough! read more

It's pricey (€4 for a small tub with two scoops), but well worth the money. Murphy's is the Rolls-Royce of ice cream. They offer numerous (and ever-changing) flavours, that range from innovative ones such as sea salt, gin and brown bread to the more traditional chocolate, cookies and cream and vanilla. Should you be unsure as what to pick, you can ask for a free sample from the friendly staff. It's one of my go-to places to bring visitors, who so far have all been suitably impressed. Together with another shop on Temple Bar Square, this is where you should buy your ice cream for a stroll through town.
