Three months ago I purchased an 18 Elantra GT. During the process of buying this car I was notified that it had a branded title due to a "Manufacturer Buy Back" but was reassured multiple times that this vehicle LEGALLY could not be sold back to the public if there were any issue. At the time I didn't think twice, because there was no way that such a reputable organization such as Murdock would sell a faulty car back to the public. This is where I was sorely mistaken. Fast forward 3 months (the recommended time interval for an oil change under normal driving conditions) my car throws a faulty catalytic converter code. I take said car into a shop to diagnose my cat code, shop calls me back to inform me that catalytic converter has gone bad due to the engine's oil consumption and that though there where no visible leaks in the engine or underneath the Elantra, there was no oil in the engine when checking the dipstick. Upon receiving this information I immediately reached out to Murdock Volkswagen in Logan and was put in contact with the Sales Manager Chad. Chad was very quick to reiterate that they would not sell a faulty car to the public but was also confused as to how my Elantra was able to consume all of its engine oil contents in 3 months time with no oil pressure/level codes being thrown and instructed me to bring the Elantra into the the Dealership to have the techs look it over to see what's wrong and to "Make things right". He also assured me that he would look into this vehicles history/carfax and get back to me same day as to what he was able to find. HE NEVER CALLED BACK. I received 0 follow from Sales Manager Chad. After 2 days I called the dealership to follow up on any information found. I was informed that Chad hadn't found anything but was still confused as to the extent of the oil consumption and again instructed me to get the Elantra to the dealership to have "their techs look it over and make sure they can find what the issue was. After finally lining up a trailer I dropped the car off at the dealership on Monday, gave the keys to the service desk. I informed them I was told by the Sales Manager Chad to bring the car in to have the techs look at it, and again was reassured that "we'll get everything taken care of". Imagine my dismay when left a voicemail by the service department on Wednesday morning that they wouldn't be able to look into the car unless I agreed to the over 180 an hour diagnostic fee. I immediately called back to speak with Chad for clarification as to why I would have to pay for the diagnostic when instructed by him to bring it in. Especially when it had already been diagnosed with massive oil consumption and possible engine damage due to said oil consumption. The kind individual who took my call told me he was in a meeting and would call me back. When he did call me back his response was, "I understand your confusion. I will get with the Service Manager and see what we can figure out and I will get back with you later today". But yet again 0 follow up. Called Thursday to follow up on what was happening with my car, "he's in a meeting right now but will call you back within the hour" No call back. Called Friday to follow up, "he's wrapping up a meeting but will call you back within the hour." I asked if I could to speak to someone else, possible even above him due to the lack of communication and was told that individual was not available today" Called yet again on Monday to get any information I could on my car. Their response? You guessed it. "He's unable to take your call right now but can he call you back?" I asked to speak to someone else in charge because I was tired of getting jerked around with no follow up or I will gladly come into the Dealership to ask Chad in person why he hasn't been able to call me back and speak to some who would be willing to help me. Upon my request he was magically available to take my call, where I was coldly informed that there was nothing they would do for me and my vehicle was ready for pickup without ever being looked at or diagnosed by their techs per Chads request to bring the Elantra into their facility. If this is what Murdock Volkswagen of Logan calls a "Fun, Fair and Hassle Free car buying experience" I have yet to find any evidence to support their claim nor will I be looking to do any future business with any of the Murdock Dealerships. read more

If I could leave 0 stars... or negative I would. This has to be the worst dealership I have ever dealt with. My husband and I went live in Idaho. We drove here to look at a car. They told us that the car was in great mechanical condition other than a check engine light that was on for an O2 sensor. He sent pictures of the code, and we checked it and that is all it was, an O2 sensor. We bought the car. First mistake was they didn't issue us temp tags, and we were not given any paperwork to drive it home. Out mistake for not asking I know but this is Utah, I thought maybe the laws are different, I have never bought a car in Utah. We don't even make it halfway home and the engine blew up. Almost $6,000 in damage and they refused to do anything. I had my young children in the car with me. Shame on this dealership. They are dishonest crooks. They committed fraud and deceived me to make a profit. I highly recommend you avoid them at all cost! read more

Initially, my experience was pretty good when I went to see an Atlas I found on Facebook. The salesman, Rick, was friendly, though he became noticeably pushy and concerned when I decided to take a night to think about the purchase before committing. The next day, I arranged financing through my bank due to past negative experiences with dealerships finance department. When I returned with my bank check, the finance manager, Drew, was clearly unhappy that I was not financing through the dealership. He aggressively pressed me for my loan terms and, despite my hesitation, I eventually shared them--but I refused to provide my Social Security number or allow him to run a credit application. Rick also encouraged me to provide my current vehicle information so they could evaluate it for purchase. After running the numbers, he sent me back to Drew. At that point, Drew became extremely unprofessional and said, "If the finance manager actually got paid for this sale, I might have worked out something with your car, but because I didn't get paid, I won't even consider it." I found this behavior completely inappropriate and disrespectful. As an older woman purchasing a vehicle on my own, I felt he was trying to intimidate or pressure me. Additionally, I was promised two new front tires and replacement of a faulty parking aid sensor. While the tires were eventually installed (after repeated follow-ups), the service department refused to replace the sensor and instead offered a discounted rate. This was especially frustrating considering I had spent over $35,000 on the vehicle. I even have text messages from the salesman confirming the sensor would be fixed, but I was told that verbal assurances or text messages outside a formal contract were not sufficient. The sensor is an inexpensive, straightforward repair, which makes the refusal even more disappointing. This experience has cost them not only my future business, but also that of my friends and family. Was it really worth damaging your reputation over a $200 repair? Lesson learned: get everything in writing. Promises made during the sale clearly don't mean anything here. read more

I purchased a used 2018 Range Rover Velar from Murdock Volkswagen in Logan a couple of years ago, and the experience since then has been nothing short of frustrating. Just a couple of weeks after buying the car, I started getting low coolant warnings. I topped it off several times hoping it was just low, but it quickly became obvious there was a real issue. I contacted the salesperson I bought the car from, who checked with their mechanics. Their "solution" was to keep adding coolant because it was probably just low. When I asked if they could at least look at it, I was told they "can't work on luxury cars" and that I'd have to take it to Range Rover. Meanwhile, my purchase came with a "monthly service package," (which I'm sure I paid an absurd amount of money for) so I took the car to the Murdock Volkswagen service department anyway. When I came to pick it up, no one from service was even there. The front desk told me my car was still in the bay and the keys were inside. When I got to it, the trunk was wide open, sitting like that for who knows how long. At that point, I lost all trust in their service department and never used the monthly inspection again. In the end, I had to pay $4,000 out of pocket to fix a coolant leak that clearly existed before I bought the vehicle--an issue Murdock Volkswagen either overlooked or covered up. Which reading the reviews now doesn't seem to be an uncommon occurrence here. And to this day, I still have problems with the car. At this point, it's practically worthless. What makes this even more disappointing is that I wanted to purchase a Volkswagen Tiguan in the future. But after this experience, I will never step foot in this dealership again, and I will never recommend Murdock Volkswagen in Logan to anyone. read more

In May of this year we bought a 2014 Santa Fe from Murdoch VW in Logan. I should mention I bought the car without seeing it first, taking the salesmans word for everything{bad idea}. The day before the car was to be delivered Rick Cloud the salesman called and told me the car had a broken windshield, when I ask if they were going to replace it I was told I bought it as is sorry. He was willing to get me a deal on one for thier cost. After checking around I got a windshield for about $75 cheaper from a local glass shop some deal huh. After having the car a couple of days I am convinced they did nothing other than run it through a car wash..... These guys did nothing but lie to me. I mentioned to him that I might not accept delivery and was told as is again and that as far as he was concerned I had already bought it. Something else I should mention is that I needed a car in a bad way. I had just filed bankruptcy and this the only place I could get financed. They took total advantage of this. This is no way to run a business they should have their license revoked. I would not recomend anybody buy a bike from these guys. I am just waiting for something else to go wrong I hope not but ya never know. This totally my fault for buying a car online without seeing it first. But they could have been honest For now thats all I got to say if your smart you will stay clear of them read more

The worst experience I've had at a dealership. I have never been more disrespected and lied to. Vance was great to work with at first. When I reached out to Vance a couple weeks later to cancel our maintenance warranty package, he said that he would take care of it and get the paperwork written up, sent off, and I would see my total loan balance drop in a couple weeks. Two days later, I reached out to confirm he had canceled our plan, which he replied that yes, he did. After a couple of weeks, I noticed my balance had not dropped so I reached back out to get an update. On the 25 November I reached out for a second time to get an update and he said he would check with accounting. He then asked me what my mileage was when we canceled... This led me to believe he never canceled in the first place. I asked for another update on December 4 and he never got back to me with an update. I reached out to him on December 11 and he asked me to refinance. Never did I say I needed this done and now avoiding what I really needed. I then asked him to send me proof of cancellation and he sent me a shady picture of a computer screen with no cancellation date. I asked him to send proof of the cancelation date based on our text thread, and he never sent me the information and blamed accounting for not getting him the documentation. At this point I was getting the runaround by Vance and asked to speak to his manager. I finally received Tanners info and gave him a call. Tanner immediately sent me a PDF document of the cancellation form proving that Vance canceled our plan on November 25 - A full month after he was supposed to cancel the plan. I let Tanner know that I knew Vance lied to me. Once he knew I caught them in a lie, Tanner cut me a check for the cancellation fee they tried to charge me. I had to remind Tanner that there is no fee for canceling within 30 days per their contract, after he tried telling me that every cancelation has a fee. I should not be correcting him on their contract. I received that check in the mail and it was post dated for the 24 December - A full week from the day I received the check and on a Holiday. On top of that, the amount on the check did not add up to any of the numbers on the cancellation document I received, so I asked for a breakdown. He ignored my email until I asked for his managers information instead. He called me within 5 minutes of receiving that email. He seemed clueless about where he got the original amount on the check from, and then told me that they ended up owing me more money and would cut me another check. Tanner said he would pay me back with no fee and my full refund that I should've received months earlier. It is now December 30 and I have still not received my second check that I was told I would receive by now. I am now been ignored and haven't heard from Tanner since December 18th. This has been the most dishonest and disrespectful runaround by Murdock, Vance, and Tanner. I do not recommend using this dealership. read more

WORST DEALERSHIP! We bought a new Tiguan and its having electrical issues and we pretty much got told they arent going to do anything to fix it. They wait for your warranty to end then they want to fix the problems. Ive bought 2 cars from them and BOTH have been terrible cars, they try to sweeten the deal by "getting you into a new car with no issues" then we have the same issues and they wont help. 1st thing I like to state is I actually had a good buying experience, Now for the used car aspect.. 1st week I had my engine light come on, brought in already need a thermostat, not a huge deal I shrugged it off they fixed it 4 days later got my car back. 3rd week owning my car engine light comes on wattage on my a.c. going crazy and just stops working, brought in the first time it happened was a Monday but can't service until Friday.. sure that's fine no problem still calm.. 4th week still no vehicle fixed, not a single update call from a service or manager, I've had to call and get every update, which there is no update they just blame jeep for being slow and now their checking recall parts on my vehicle. So their saying they sold me a vehicle that wasn't fully checked lovely bunch of coconuts. Furious at this point a 17,000$ vehicle and they've had it longer than I have, haven't even had the plates put on yet.. That's just my experience of course.. By far one of the worst dealerships you will ever come in contact with. They are crooked in every which way. They sale cars that break down 12 days after you buy them and then tell you sorry but you bought it as is you are stuck with the bill. Spent 7000 to fix the car and they said oh well they are nothing but a bunch of thieves and want people to be aware so they don't have the same thing happen to them. Stay away from Ben Murdoch, Mathew Sessions and Curtis Coombs they will rob you blind. Everyone Needs to know what kind of business these people are running. read more

BEWARE! We were approved for a nice car at a decent price, and the process was as smooth as it could possibly be.. UNTIL.. the next day, woke up to multiple missed calls and voicemails with a very very urgent message that we needed to come in and resign some documents due to the finance department "forgetting to add in the dealers fees" which I know, from buying multiple cars, that these fees are mandatory and DO come out of the dealers pocket (i.e. registration fees, title transfer, temp tags) so of course we went and when we got there I specifically said that I will not be signing anything that is adding a warranty or maintenance extras, he assured me that was not the case. so I signed and left, turns out he added over $2500 in .. you guessed it, extended warranties and a 3 year maintenance plan. I called and he said the LENDER REQUIRED these. When the bank called to verify the loan and asked the questions, all seemed fine until I asked "Why do you require I purchase extras for the vehicle, it make it almost 3 grand more?" She politely said that it was not at all required and its illegal for lenders to require buyers to purchase any type of extra warranty. I was told by the dealer that there was nothing they could do until i wait 6 months and to call back and he would refund the warranty. a few days later we received a letter from the lender denying the loan. I called and they said it was due to the original contract. That amount was approved, but a 2nd contract came through and they couldnt approve it. I called the dealer and they said we needed to now bring the car back. By this time, the temp tags had expired and we had no insurance on the vehicle anymore. I explained this and Clara said "Oh its fine, if you get pulled over just tell highway patrol to call me and ill personally explain that youre returning our car and you should be fine but you need to bring this car back as soon as you can" Also, my dad co signed but was too ill to travel and she said it would be ok to just bring his ID and let me sign all the loan docs under his name. (Which I believed as she was very convincing) and that it wasnt illegal. I never got confirmation if that was a legal act or a deperate ploy to get a car sold. This was April 2023. for about a month we got calls asking when we were gonna return the car, and it I gave the same answser, you come and get it Im not driving an hour illegally just to get pulled over and arrested (Utah is VERY strict on driving with no plates and no insurance). I received threats that we were gonna be arrested for felony theft. Suddenly, the emails calls stopped. It is now December 2023. That car has sat in our garaged undriven for almost a year before they finally sent a tow truck to pick it up! They are very sneaky and NEVER trust finance department and never let them con you into an extended warranty (This is where they make most of their commission) I am filing a complained with the BBB and have a meeting The 2nd of Jan to officially file it. Im going to let them know how they told me to sign for the co signer and how they left a vehicle in my house for almost a year. Clara is VERY pleasant and I cant say enough good things about her customer service and her attitude is above par. However, she was the one who communicated to me to sign for my father and that it wasnt illegal to do so. Google reviews show this same type of situation happening if you read the 1 star reviews. Ive bought an Volkswagen south towne and they are WAY better and offer lifetime warranties INCLDUED in the price. If want want a new car with low miles and no problems that will last you a month before it falls apart then hurry in their deals won't last long. This place sucks. This dealer's customer service is horrible, they lie to their customer and treated them badly. I preordered a new Volkswagen Jetta from Murdock Volkswagen Logan, Utah. I decided to go with this car because it was advertised on their website as full of safety options including a backup camera, blind spot monitor, forward collision warning, and rear traffic alert. When I received the car, after a few days, I recognized that the blind spot monitor and rear traffic alert were not installed in the car. I came to the dealer and asked them to reinstall the missing features or take the car back for a refund, however, they didn't want to resolve the problem. They said the missing features were credited back and posted on the window sticker. However, they did not expose the information to me during I signed the preorder contract and they took it off the window sticker when I came to take the car. They tried to hide the information. The dealer advertised misinformation, so customers make the wrong decision to buy their car without advertised features. Ironically, after my complaint, the wrong information is still on their website. The safety features are important to me and that drove me to buy a car. read more

Not impressed. We were almost immediately turned away by the salesman when we asked if they were willing to work with us on the price of the vehicle we wanted. Finally worked out a price with the manager and while waiting for our vehicle we were told we'd get a spare key from the salesman. Waited 3 months patiently for said key, never heard anything. Finally reached out to them and they told us they were working on it. Waiting another month with no notice, so reached out to them again only to be ignored. Then waited another month for an answer and was told they never officially wrote down that they owe us a key so we wouldn't be getting the spare key even though the salesman told us he would get us one. There word means NOTHING. Not happy with the service and I will not return nor recommend them to anyone else. Nothing was ever said about getting a second key being contingent upon contacting the previous owners. And when we went to pick up our license plates, they told us that if our salesperson told us we would get a second key that they would get us one. We were never told they would have to contact previous owners for a second key until I texted them about the key 3 months after purchasing the car from them. Definitely not transparent with information. read more
