The 2 stars are for the food. Poor quality of food and high prices Had the Portabella sandwich you barely could recognize the portobello mushroom it was small and very flat. There's no taste the french fries in the past have been pretty good but this time they were just like store-bought frozen fries. The chef has no imagination at all their menu has been the same for years. It's very boring to eat there. The service is fair takes them a long time to not only serve you, but it takes forever to get your bill. You can wait there another 20 to 30 minutes and you still probably wouldn't get it unless you asked for it and they add another service charge on top of everything else I really don't think it's worth going unless they changed to a new chef because their food quality is really poor read more

Impressive food especially compared to our community but we did have to wait an extraordinarily long time for our drink orders so we were all quite parched by the time the solo server came to our table of nineteen ladies. We knew we were not members of the club but it was made painfully clear to us, or at least to the ladies sitting next to me so that negative energy did feed into me though I did try to block it out. Apparently there was a large event happening upstairs which we were unaware of but the social organizer thought it was best to stick to this date. Again an extremely long wait before our food orders were taken and you guessed it, a long wait before the food arrived. Yummy food and fair prices considering the atmosphere. Upscale ambiance but painfully slow service for good food. I got the Bang Bang shrimp which came with a side salad that included fresh pepitas, a type of pepper I have only seen dried and it was delicious. Twenty minute travel time but a three hour luncheon is absurd! There's only so much we can talk about. Btw there's an automatic 18% gratuity added onto your bill no matter what you think about your service. Food was really good but portions were a little small. I don't particularly like a mandatory service charge of 18% as a tip. I usually tip 20% or better. Must be the clientele not providing adequate tipping. A definite gathering place for the locals and golfers. Interior is clean and nicely decorated. Wife and I had a late lunch here after playing golf one afternoon and then dinner after another afternoon of golf. The first time eating we sat at a table it wasn't very busy, everyone was very nice and talked with you even the locals asking how. you played and more. The second time we sat at the bar because it was truly busy some special dinner evening for the members. Our server was the same for both visits she was very good very attentive and took good care of us. We will definitely eat here again. read more

We moved to Ford's colony a year ago, and so far Murdocs has been our go to! The food is pretty good and wings are the best in Williamsburg! The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is nice. Ashley the manager does a great job. Only complaint we have, is you can't bring dogs to the outdoor area, that's kinda dated thinking! read more

Unfortunately, I can't give much of a review except for one star because when I got to the restaurant after making a reservation over a week and a half early, they told me they did not have my reservation. I specifically called and made sure I spoke to someone at the restaurant because I was staying at the Marriott as we were going to buy properties in the area and wanted a place that was right there in Fords colony close to the Marriott. I got to the restaurant at 6 PM or a little bit earlier and when I asked for a table for two under my name they said they did not have my reservation and were totally booked. They don't give confirmation numbers, they don't make reservations through OpenTable. It's just who you talk to I guess. The gentleman who I spoke with at the front desk at the restaurant said he would check with someone went upstairs told the girl that was seating people to put me on a waitlist. I asked if the waitlist was going to be more than a few minutes she said about 45 minutes so here we are at a place that I needed to get a bite to eat after driving five hours. I walked out and never will go back again. In addition, I doubt very much. I'll be staying at that Marriott again just not worth it. we did have a fantastic dinner by the way at Tuscany restaurant which the food was absolutely excellent. The service was excellent. They seated us immediately in a nice cozy booth. Go to Tuscany Skip Murdochs, or go somewhere else because they're a little bit snooty there about giving people who are even staying at the Marriott the right time of day. read more

We recently moved in around the corner in Ford's Colony and we were excited to find this place. Unfortunately, it is lacklustre at best. Tonight, was our third and final time here. The service is the WORST. Not because the staff are bad but, because it is always understaffed! The few people working always seem to be running around like chickens with their heads cut off and are completely inattentive to customers. (Tonight, our server Maura, was sweating she was running so hard! She was also the only person that acknowledged us and apologised profusely. She had a great positive attitude in a harsh environment.) Honestly; one of the worst things we have witnessed is what appears to be the same female manager, (Paige?) working each time we have come in, that seems to not notice or care. Tonight, when she wasn't ignoring customers, we witnessed her sternly call out a server in front of us! In addition, when we couldn't find our server and I got out of my seat to explain I had been given the wrong beverage, she acted "put out". Considering the location, and the price, you would think service would be stellar. It's not. And the food is just "eh". So many other places to eat in Williamsburg...try any of those. (And, if you do brave this place, be prepared for an automatic 18% tip regardless of how you're treated!) I didn't write this review lightly. I owned a retail business and worked in restaurants. I Liked it. Sometimes I get confused when I read reviews on certain places. I didn't plan on coming here, but I was waiting for my dad to finish his golf game. We walked inside and everything looked great. Clean, not crowded at all....looked like country club bar. We sit at the bar and the server tells us it's happy hour until 6p. And wings are on special for 50 cent a piece. Hell Yeah! So my miller lite was a buck fifty. Happy Days! Service was great and we decided to order food to go. We had, the chicken quesadilla, 20 chicken wings, 2 bowls of minestrone soup, 2 cheese burgers with fries, and three cheese melt that I had them add turkey and tomato. We got all of our food and swooped. We got back to our room and everything looked great. The soup was a perfect minestrone. No issues there. My sandwich was the bomb. Not sure if they have Denny's Restaurants up here, but it basically had them make me a Superbird sandwich. It was awesome! Nice portion of turkey and it was grilled perfect. So let's recap, again some reviews on here are bullshit. How do I know? I can be a royal pain in the ass to a server. I ask for this and that. Can you give me a side of this? Where is the Tabasco? Extra cheese please? I'm a nightmare. So with that said this place is good. The food was good, the service was great, and they put up with my bullshit. That alone gives them 6 stars. Now called Murdoch's. Food was okay. We stopped for lunch after golf and then went back over for a light dinner as it was close and weather was miserable. Their soup & salad offering for dinner was lacking and did not look appetizing. My husband is a scotch drinker and he ordered a double Johnny Walker. The price was $17!!!! I've eaten in a lot of 5 star restaurants and never paid $17 for a drink. Okay for lunch after golf but forget about dinner especially if you want a drink. read more

I'm confused but I think this is the very same place as Harry's Restaurant and Bar at Ford's Colony Country Club. Actually, I'm positive they are the same. And we are having a great experience here. Harry's Tavern was remodeled and renamed when Ford's Colony Country Club changed management and ownership in early 2016. It is now named Murdoch's. New owners, ClubCorp, have made significant and obvious efforts to improve service, menu and food quality. Casual and family dining environment seems to be gaining regulars. Pizza is decent, wings and sandwiches are very popular. Tasty (but not exotic) brunch on Sunday mornings. read more
