Served a Dragonwell with too-hot water, it over extracted and went bitter. Disappointing from a "fine tea" joint.

What a wonderful discovery in the hype of Yaletown. This little tea bar (and don't be misled -…read moregreat coffee too) is a much better option for quality and price than some of the others around. I haven't tried the treats - because granted those are hard to compete with against local bakeries - but for my coffee or tea to go with them, this place is my first pick. The owner / barista is friendly and provides top notch service. It is also what makes me keep coming back.

Alex (aka The Homie) was given the choice between two tea shops while in Yaletown (2/22/18). He…read moredecided on O-Cha Tea Bar, located at the corner of Homer and Helmcken. This turned out to be a fantastic choice, since we had the opportunity to have a warm, spontaneous conversation with Wilson Lee, O-Cha owner and active Yaletown business/community member. I had read previous Yelp posts about the Cold Blaster, but instead decided on the Mocha Chai and Alex ordered the Candied Rooibos. Both beverages were outstanding. This is what I call a pocket cafe. Bright counter seating facing Homer, perfect for watching passersby. Of which, Wilson definitely had his regulars while we warmed up in his cafe. Their usual crafted beverage made promptly, a quick exchange, and then that person's back on their way. My question about how long has this shop been in business ended up as a memorable conversation with Wilson. He shared the details about his business, the Yaletown community, social media, travel, urban growth, his hilarious anecdote about his favorite izakaya place on Denman, and a future trip to Asia for a wedding. There was such a rapport, that we were given an open invitation to a community event Friday evening. Sadly, we weren't able to do so since we departed VanBC a day earlier due to snow. We commented on him on our drive home earlier today (2/23/18) that coincidentally we'd pass signage along I-5 South, that would say Wilson. Too cool. Small cafe, but full of warmth and genuine community pride. Yes, I was able to warm up with tasty tea, get free updated maps and travel brochures while there. But left with a lasting impression and the desire to return to Vancouver, BC much sooner than later. Thanks, Wilson! O-Cha Tea Bar in Yaletown - Highly recommended!

I wasn't planning to go to Chun Fun How for boba, but after I finished eating next door, I happened…read moreto walk past this shop and the menu looked intriguing enough that it enticed me to come in. There's a kiosk right at the entrance for easy ordering, or during busy periods, the bobarista can take orders at the counter. There are two parking spots in the back of the building in the alley. Osmanthus Milk Tea, Half Sweet, 30% Ice w/ Boba ($7.45) - This milk tea is excellent. It's fragrant, flowery, and what seems to be a naturally great, almost fruity flavor. I complain a lot about how Westerner-catering shops add artificial, heavy fruity flavors into their milk teas - while this one is fruity, but it works so well in this drink. Everything is thickened and mellowed out a bit by the creamer. Delicious drink and good sweetness level for me (less sweet than the entrees served next door...). The boba served in the drink is a bit on the lumpier side rather than being smooth. It still has a very nice chewy quality, perhaps being a smidgen on the softer side vs. perfect. That might be because of the 30% ice - perhaps if I went with more ice, they would firm up just a tad more? Milk Tea Rating: 5/5 Boba Rating: 4.5/5 This place is pretty funny - there are signs up all over the place directing customers (and even employees!) on what they can and can't do. Funniest signs in the washroom by far, be sure to check it out. Washrooms - One unisex room

I tried the Osmanthus Oolong Milk Tea - boba is decent 4/5 stars, 100% sweet is a bit too sweet for me, I'd recommend 50% or 80% depending on your preference. Two things I appreciate are 1) the cup is pretty and 2) the straw is not made of paper

Cha Yuan - Brown Sugar Pearl Latte (with grass jelly)

Cha Yuan is my cup of (bubble) tea!…read more It's a little shop with a wide selection of drinks (milk teas, lattes, fruit teas, slushes, and brewed teas), as well as bubble waffles and gelatos. The tea flavour is quite delicate, with options to substitute the milk and adjust the ice and sugar levels for certain drinks. Those who are lactose intolerant can rejoice because the oat milk substitution is free! Further, some drinks are caffeine free and available hot. It looks like there is only one size for drinks though. If you do opt for pearls, I find that Cha Yuan's have a nice chew/QQ to them. So far, I've only tried the milk teas and lattes, with my favourites being Matcha Latte ($6.50) with Coffee Jelly (+$0.75), Hojicha Milk Tea ($6) with Grass Jelly (+$0.75), and Brown Sugar Pearl Latte ($6), all substituted with oat milk. Cha Yuan is more of a grab and go, but there is some bar seating by the window should you choose to stay longer. Usually, there is only one staff member - at times, two - attending to both the till and the drinks, so there may be a slight wait. That said, the service is great, as is the quality of the drinks. Get a stamp card because you will be back for more!
