This beautiful Apple, berry and white chocolate gateaux stole the show at this event

This cake shop and cafe gets 5 stars because it is the kind of place to take a friend for some serious 5 star treatment. The coffee is very good but it really shines in the cake and dessert department! From mini eclairs, chocolate-dipped biscuits and macarons to show-stopping divine cake goodness of every variety this place really gives you a sugar rush (in the best possible way). I have ordered custom desserts for a dinner party and the staff were wonderful and creative. Their large cakes that you can take away are very special and suit a special occasion like a birthday, anniversary or baby shower.

One of my all time favourites, baked vanilla cheesecake topped with blueberries.

Doesn't get much better then this long standing Adelaide institution. The cakes/sweets and savoury are flawless literally you can tell immediately they use the very best produce and have the quality makers in the business. Have been here a number of times and can not think of a time we had trouble getting a seat. If you have one thing in Adelaide as a bucket list this place is it

One word: MACARONS. In case you haven't heard, when it comes to sweet treats it's ALL about the macarons. Cupcakes are SO 2010, people. As a huge macaron fan, I am pretty pleased with Muratti. That's not to mention their huge and drool-worthy selection of cakes, gateaux, meringues, cheesecake, mousse, chocolates.... But it's the macarons I come for and the macarons I can't look past. Sure the selection isn't huge, and they don't look quite pretty as a Parisian patisserie picture (try saying that 5 times fast), but in terms of taste and texture, Muratti are my favourite macaron source in Adelaide. The common mistake with macarons is to make them too chewy: they should have a slightly crisp shell, encasing filling that's as soft as a cloud on a summer day in the Tuileries. Muratti delivers. Plus they're served up by lovely, friendly staff. This is a sweets bakery at its yummiest.

The staff weren't the friendliest, I didn't receive a single smile or attempt at conversation but at the end of the day you go to a bakery for the food. I ordered a Roast Pork roll with extra butter as I usually do. I paid an extra 50c for extra butter and the lady put the same amount butter on my roll as my partners who only got the normal amount of butter. Not a big deal as its only 50c but abit irritating. Overall the roll as a whole was delicious! Good quality pork, the veggies tasted fresh and all complimented each other. Would recommend to check it out if in the area.

The Arndale Bakery is a surprisingly popular spot, considering it's nearby competition of Kilkenny…read moreBakery and Rheinland Boutique Bakery. This is definitely the least appealing of the three; there is nowhere to sit, except for two single chairs flanking the door, the atmosphere feels more like a warehouse than a bakery, as the walls are stacked with boxes of various packaged products, and the clientele can be somewhat...frightening. I queued up with a loud woman in a wheelchair, a man who smelt like he hadn't seen a shower in years, and a tradesman with less than room temperature IQ. And we were all there for the Vietnamese pork rolls. Their rolls are $3.50 for single meat or $4 for combination or Thai chicken. I went the Thai chicken - delicious! Suspect paste on the bottom - I don't want to know its ingredients - yet full of fresh coriander, cucumber, carrot, and tasty chicken. I also tried a rice cake of some description - I wouldn't go there again. It had the taste and consistency of thin rice noodles cooked into a clump and piled with sugar. The other sweets in here look aed little too colourful and creamy - I like my colour as real as possible, same with my cream, so I stayed away. Definitely worth venturing in here for the rolls though. Follow the locals, they know where it's at.
