I had another contractor install a new gas insert into an existing wood burning fireplace and not only did they completely botch the job, they left us at great risk of setting the house on fire. Ed & Son had to completely remove and replace the unit using non combustible material, replace the ventilation that the previous contractors damaged and redo the gas up to code. Working with Ed & Company was stress free and a pleasure. They gave me recommendations of other contractors that were great to work with, and then returned to complete the installation with a granite surround. I contacted them after having my fireplace serviced by The Fireplace Place. After paying that company three additional amounts beyond the initial service fee, the fireplace still did not work properly. Ed Muraca promptly and expertly figured out why my gas fireplace was no longer working, and why I previously smelled gas. He detected two small gas leaks and poor repair done by a different fireplace company. He ordered and installed new parts, and completed the repair. Ed was very courteous and good about responding to my voice mails. I previously used a different fireplace company for periodic maintenance, and they had not detected the gas leaks. I have a Vermont Casting gas burning stove that was well over due for a maintenance/service check. I called Muraca Enterprises, Ed returned my call in a timely manner. Ed and his associate Joe arrived at the scheduled time and were very courteous and respectful. They did a thorough cleaning and inspection. Very honest, knowing that the stove had never been serviced they could have taken advantage but they did not. They only did what was needed and nothing more. Rates very reasonable. My husband spoke with Ed Muraka in October, 2017, about installing a fireplace in our home. Ed said we were located outside of his normal work area, but would be happy to do the installation during his slow month in January. Though we were anxious to have a fireplace, we decided to wait for Ed based on the positive reviews we read online. However, our 4 month wait was a total waste of our time since despite repeated calls to Muraca Enterprises, no one will contact us to begin the project. We left numerous detailed messages on Ed's answering machine, but no one returned our calls. Seriously, how can a business just ignore a customer in that way. If Ed did not wish to honor his commitment to work with us then why not have the common decency to say so.
