Beautiful pasta and generous sourdough side. Carry out was phenomenal which isn't easy for that to be the case when it comes to pasta. We got the tonnarelli which they made via their sourdough bread crumbs so the semolina flour was earthy and the end result was a toasted pasta noodle of sorts. We were big fans. The lamb sugo and red sauce were also perfect. After a long day at work this felt like the hug we needed. The bread on the side was only 4 dollars and a big portion with evoo. Plenty for soaking up extra pasta sauce. We had left overs abs can't wait to eat more. 10/10 recommend! read more

Great service and delicious food. This place has been on our must try list for quite some time. We split a pizza for an appetizer and it was fantastic. Roman style with a fantastic sauce. My partner had the lasagna which he said was delicious and not stuffed with fillings. It was a huge portion. I ordered a gnocchi dish but they were out of gnocchi and substituted another type of pasta-still delicious. Had room for dessert so we tried the Torta di Mele-was my favorite thing of the night. Pasta, especially the Rigatoni-- although we all know is cooked al dente-- it was a bit raw and undercooked. Also try to book your reservation early not nearing closing time. My partner and I are getting back into date nights in-person and started with Munno because it made Chicago's 2021 Michelin Bib Gourmand list. The spot is cozy with an open kitchen and around 10 tables -- all spaced for social distancing. The staff wore masks and each person from the baker to the waiter was incredibly attentive and friendly with us. Walking in, we had no problem getting a table on a Wednesday evening without a reservation. We ordered the pear and walnut salad and the margherita pizza to share. The salad was a huge portion and honestly big enough for four. It was super delicious and topped with pecorino and a tart vinaigrette. The pizza had a thin crust, a sweet tomato sauce, basil and dots of mozzarella. It was pretty good. Even better -- if you're taking it easy and not drinking on a weeknight like us, two people can absolutely dine here for around $35, including tax and tip. read more

This place is absolutely fantastic! You walk in and smell the fresh dough from the pizza, and the staff is very attentive and excellent. My husband took me here for a date night/birthday dinner for me. I had cacio e pepe, and he had a margherita pizza. Both were divine! I also had a limoncello spritz to drink which was perfectly tart and bubbly! We ended the night with some tiramisu, which they kindly put a candle in for me! The tiramisu was genuinely one of the best I've ever had! The it was light, and the ladyfingers were soaked in delicious espresso. It's very clear everything is made in house. The food was good but the drink pours with the wine and spritz drinks were so tiny. It was not worth the price of each drink. What a disappointment. We saw everyone had wine pours with the same tiny amounts all throughout the restaurant. Absolutely dreamy. Sat on the nice shady patio, split a bottle of wine, got an amazing prosciutto pizza with a light fluffy crust and pile of burrata on top, and house made pasta. Great restaurant with amazing food and service! Best Italian restaurant in Chicago no question. One of the only restaurants in the US that makes carbonara authentically and is comparable to carbonara in Rome. The Diavola pizza is mouth watering and my favorite wood fire pizza. What a wonderful surprise! We have driven passed this restaurant for years and were always curious. So when we made plans to stop at Carol's Pub across the street for Bingo, we booked a reservation for earlier in the night. The tables are spaced out, even given the small dining area. We ordered the pear and walnut salad, the carbonara, diavola pizza, and bufalina pizza. Everything was delicious, but the diavola was my far and away favorite. The serving sizes are generous for the prices, especially the pasta. They also make their pasta in-house. The pizzas are Neapolitan style and I'm going to go ahead and say it beats out Spacca Napoli (another neighborhood Neapolitan pizzeria). It was that good and is probably my new Chicago favorite. read more

Just ordered Munno pizza for takeout tonight. I will say prices and the pizzas themselves are very similar to the other nearby Neapolitan pizza place and that's not a bad thing. We ordered a margherita pizza and a diavola sbagliata pizza. Both pizzas were tasty. I will say that personally I prefer a bit more, ummm, crust integrity, if you will...but the pizzas were cooked nicely and I know that's just the way this particular style of pizza is. I expected a bit more spice/hot honey with the pizza I got. I was also expecting a bit more meat topping, as well. I am writing this a few hours after I ate half of my diavola pizza and I am still quite hungry. Just realize that eating these pizzas will more than likely not give you that comfy full feeling...unless maybe you eat the entire thing by yourself in one sitting? Either way, if you know what you're expecting and getting and you love tasty and light Neapolitan style pizza then Munno is a great neighborhood stop. If you are hangry and want tasty food that fills you up for a good price, you may want to look elsewhere. read more

Came to this local joint after a good ride up in Chicago magazine. This is a great little find that we were pleased got some recognition from the rag. To start off with I want to say that both the service and atmosphere is very warm and friendly. Upon arrival we quickly noted that we liked the noise level of the restaurant and felt like we were in our own setting away from the other patrons. Cocktails were delicious and wine pours were generous. We started off with a pizza as an appetizer that had him and a pepper honey glaze on top. It was tasty and we enjoyed it. However I really did not get any notes of honey or pepper. We decided to split three entrées between the three of us because they all sounded so good. The ravioli with Parmesan and mushroom was delicious however the portion was pretty small. One person would have needed more food and at least a salad. The lasagna was delicious though I probably would have put a couple extra layers of pasta to make it a little more hearty. That said the combination of Cheeses were delightful. Last but not least was another pasta dish with a beef short rib. That was sold to us as being kind of sweet. It was delicious however again I did not come across any sweetness to the overall dish. They highlighted three desserts and all three were good. We left with clean plates on our faces. We will be back. One thing that I would suggest to the chef would be to have a section that offered some protein entrées. Both proteins and general vegetables were lacking on the menu and left a hole in those places. That said though, everything was delicious and we liked it. My critique is just a suggestion. Thanks for a great dinner! read more

This place is such a gem! When we walked in, a man was picking up a carry-out order and told us this was the best Italian food he'd ever had outside of Italy, and he lived in Rome for eight years, so I was instantly impressed and curious. My experience did not let me down in the slightest: I am just sad I didn't discover it sooner! Everything was fabulous. It's a very laid back and casual dining environment with exceptional food and service. My party and I shared the Insalada Lupa to start: so good! I had the Diavola Sbagliata pizza for my entree, which was outstanding. I ate every bite. My husband had the Gnocchi Gorgonzola Radicchio e Noci, which I sampled several times and was also great (although I must say I liked the pizza better). We shared the cheesecake dessert that was on special, which was awesome. The drink menu was also great. I started with the Limoncello Spritz and then had several glasses of the Montefalco red wine per our server's recommendation, which was very good. The value for what we had was exceptional. We've been eating here since we moved to the neighborhood 2 years ago. There have been changes since January 2023 and we rolled with it. All good. A few things. The "that table is reserved" is not a good thing to hear...especially when you are told it's reserved for a 5 top and leave to see the table has been separated and seats just one, lone person. We heard the host tell others the same about different tables. All of us looked disappointed. Our salad tasted great but had a lot of brown-tinged "chicory"...not Bib Gourmand. Brown butter sage sauce on the gnocchi was weird? Not brown, not nutty, just salty. We hope these comments are used for their benefit. We love it and want to see Munno succeed! read more

My wife Ana and I stopped by for dinner as a walk-in last Friday, September 2nd. we arrived at 6:20pm as was confirmed with the text message on my phone when we were added to the waitlist. What I found interesting was there were 3 empty tables outside and 5 empty tables inside at 6:20. So we waited thinking people with reservations would come and start taking these tables from 6:20 to 6:40, nobody came. Which was frustrating indeed - when the receptionist informed my wife then that ALL those tables were being held for 7pm reservations it was even more frustrating. Had they told us at 6:20 that we would have to wait at least 40 minutes so they could hold these tables, and only if someone didn't show at that time they would have opened a table for us, we would have left immediately and none of this would have been an issue. But instead we waited - and for anyone who has been to Munno knows, having 8 of their tables unused is basically HALF their restaurant space. In the future the restaurant could have done two things differently. 1) Been honest from check-in with us on the wait time and WHY the wait existed (there were no 6:30 or 6:45 reservations) they were holding all these empty tables for at least 40 minutes. Or 2) seat the customer with the expectation/ understanding we would be done in 40/45 minutes. Leaving people waiting and staring at empty tables is not customer friendly. We wound up eating at Fin Sushi that night and we were in and out in 50 minutes. That's all I want to say. read more

This place is just an absolute delight. We've only eaten on the patio but it's a very nice calm and relaxed vibe. All the pizzas pastas and salads we have tried have been delicious- you can't go wrong. I think this is the best iteration of this type of pizza in the neighborhood (and probably most of chicago). read more
