Wow! Where do I begin?! Suparna Mullick is absolutely horrible!
However, it wasn't until January 31, 2024, when I experienced the most dismissive and disparaging treatment from a physician ever! My appointment was at 10a and she didn't come in the room until 10:45! My appointment was for scalp injections which was fine, however, on 12/11/2023 I noticed a dark scab near my left temple area. I asked her on 12/11/2023 if the scab was an in-grown hair bump and she immediately said yes. Now on 1/31/2024 she looked at my hair and noticed a significate increase in hair growth. I then told her that I suffered burns on my feet and proceeded to show her, she glanced down at my feet and said, "Just put some Vaseline on it." I asked, "Just put some Vaseline on it?" as she was typing on her laptop. She stated, "What did you say?" I asked again, "Just put Vaseline on it?" and she stated, "Yes." I felt as though my burns were dismissed! I should have told her I went to my PCP on 1/30/2024 and was diagnosed with first degree burns! My PCP asked me my pain level, assessed the burns and even gave me two prescriptions! Since Suparna is a dermatologist and I wanted her to at least assess the burns as well.
After that I told her about the scab again, she immediately said, "I can freeze it! Do you want me to freeze it?!" and then she whipped out this can with blue coloring. I said, "Umm well is it going to hurt?" She stated, "It will blister, kinda like your feet" and I stated, "Oh no." She then stated, "Oh it will be a tiny blister and the scab will fall off." I was so confused because she was talking so fast, and I just said yes - unfortunately.
She finished in the room and told me to have a good day. I went to checkout and was told my visit was over $200 and asked why and I was told because of the freeze. No, Suparna never told me how much the "freeze" was, and she didn't tell me the official name of it! I refused to pay for the "freeze" and paid only for the scalp injections.
I called Mullick's office and told the receptionist that I wanted to speak to the billing manager - Katie called the next morning.
I told her my experience and she said Suparna stated, "It is my job to call my insurance company to find out the price for procedures." I stated, "Why would I contact my insurance company regarding a procedure I knew nothing about. I didn't request the "freeze" she suggested it therefore she should have told me the cost."
Katie stated she would talk to Suparna again and call me back - she called the next morning - again. Katie stated Suparna said, "We can send you your records and you can find another physician." I asked for the billing code that was used and I was told 17110 and L82.0 - Inflamed Seborrheic Keratosis! Suparna NEVER EVER diagnosed me with either! On 12/11/2023 I asked if the scab was an in-grown hair bump and she said, "Yes" she never mentioned any other diagnosis! As for the burns Katie stated, "She didn't want to focus on my feet because that would have been an additional charge." Wow, but she had no problem charging me for the "freeze" and clearly ignored the first degree burns on my feet!
I called my insurance company and was told 17110 is a freaking wart code! Suparna treated me for something I never knew I had and I don't have! I don't have warts or Inflamed Seborrheic Keratosis of any kind! What I do have because of her negligence is a blistered wound that is 10 times larger than the scab from the result of CRYOTHERAPY aka "freeze!
Also, as I was reading my medical records Suparna stated, "The patient understands that there are inherent risks to cryotherapy procedure including but not limited to scarring, pain, infection, blistering, permanent or temporary loss of pigmentation, need for further intervention, and recurrence. The procedure is being performed in order to treat the above diagnosis and understands that repeat treatment may be necessary."
Suparna is a LIAR! The ONLY thing that she mentioned was the blister! I had no knowledge of scarring, pain, infection, permanent or temporary loss of pigmentation! I was on the phone with a representative from my insurance company when I discovered these LIES! Suparna never used the word cryotherapy! I can only suggest she didn't want to use medical terms or terms she thought I was not familiar with, because while discussing my next round of injections she stated she needed to stop talking like a doctor. And that her children tell her when she is talking like a doctor and she started talking to me in simple terms! How freaking RUDE! I am extremely educated and my vocabulary is extensive and furthermore, I am NOT one of her kids or a kid!
Suparna you need to refer to your medical code of ethics handbook and revisit the chapter of treating people ALL people with respect and dignity! Your behavior is abhorrent and narcissistic and I have filed a Quality-of-Care complaint with my insurance company and when the claim is submitted, I will appeal! read more
