Really turned off by the lack of friendliness. Not busy, a guy standing in the window waiting for somebody to order. Expected to tip at the beginning so you feel obligated to support these trucks not knowing what kind of service you will get. Took 30 minutes for my one order of bibimbap. No notice or apologies for the delay. Finally the buzzer went off, received the food with a glare and silence from the server. I said thank you with no response. This to-go bibimbap is same price as if you went into a sit down restaurant but without any banchan or hot tea. Inside the Hawthorne Asylum food truck plaza.

Service is 10/10! The food is really flavorful and delicious! We went outside to eat and the warmth or the food helped with the cold.

Leaving a 3 star review feels a little too low but 4 feels too high so I'm kinda stuck here. I enjoyed the meal and ate until I was full which is a good sign. The food itself is very average though. Simple ingredients combined in a bowl with a spicy sauce on top. The food itself doesn't really have any flavor that you can taste over the spicy sauce. I would like to see the food seasoned more and less of the sauce on top so it's more balanced. The sauce itself is also not really flavorful- just spicy. Nothing bad to say. Love the location inside of the Hawthorne Asylum. Fun place to hangout and get some drinks. Food came out quickly but it was also pretty slow when we came. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again but if my partner ordered it again I'd gladly eat off of her plate.

Immaculate atmosphere and the exact sort of thing we were looking for for breakfast. We didn't get her name but saw on the receipt her name might have been Davi, she was such a bundle of light and life, so attentive and kind! She immediately gave us wonderful recommendations which we all adored. The table ordered praline bacon to share (do yourself a favor and get this), one ordered the praline bacon waffle, another ordered the bananas foster waffle, and I got the seasonal vegetable hash. We were all in HEAVEN with what we ordered. From the first bite to the last it we were all absolutely stunned by how delicious and well made everything was. I savored every bite as did my compatriots. One gal ordered a couple things to go for her family (huevos rancheros for the hubby and cinnamon rolls for her kiddos) and our waitress Davi recommended they bring out the cinnamon rolls unfired so that she could pop them in the oven when she got home after a short drive. It was such good attention to detail that felt like such a friendly offer. Absolute superstars, the lot of you. Next time I'm back in Portland I'm absolutely spoiling some friends here with what I can only describe as a transcendent experience.

As i approached the building, I noticed that it was full of people. I fell into the street. I was in and out of consciousness. My heart was racing at the thought that I drove 15 hours and could not get a seat at SCREEN DOOR. As I walked into the building a humble man greeted me. He told me that they would clean off a table for me. WOO HOO. I bursted out crying at the thought that I finally got my seat. As I sat down a soft chair graced my bottom. Beautiful. I looked around and the scenery was beautiful. As I looked at the menu, my eyes sharply turned to the chicken and waffles. Deliciously perfect choice. I ordered my food and got a coffee. My chicken and waffles arrived and I took a bite. I started floating. My soul left my body. I looked down at my body as I floating away, I was enjoying every bite. I reached the heavens. A loud voice said "Its not your time yet. Return and enjoy the rest of your meal." I ascend back to the chair and every chicken and every waffle was gone. The servers were SO kind. I got my check and shead a tear, knowing that was the best meal of my life. Over all from kind servers to and delicious food, SCREEN DOOR was an awesome experience. SCREEN DOOR deserves a 5 star, however I am going to give it a 5 star. I loved every moment. Thank for read my review. Love you.

The onigiri is art. And the service is always polite and professional. Always. I was physically at the restaurant the night these one star people were there. From what I could tell sitting at the bar and observing the ID in question, it looked fliiiimssy even from where I was sitting. I kinda get both sides ya know , sure one person in the group wants a drink w dinner but dude just tough it out and have your dinner. Instead they popped off and all started fussing and being entitled and it was just gross. I was enjoying a fantastic dinner but that table was like trying to take the stage. I think they ended up storming out and one girl like stomped off and said she was keeping her cup !! lol I worked in food a long time ago. And I've worked in cannabis under the watchful eye of the olcc so I'm on the servers side. Don't take chances and don't listen to these kids scramble for a secondary ID. Sketch. Go to obon. Get the Sando. Enjoy.

So of course I had to come back and get the full feast w/ a bit of everything. It is not cheap at $85 but it's a shit ton of food - there were 3 of us & we didn't even finish half, easily made another 5 meals out of it. It comes w/ fried fish & fried chicken, chicken wings, ribs, corn on the cob, green beans, baked beans, potato salad, collard greens & some dessert & 2 drinks. And everything was soo good. Fish was my fav and the ribs were so tender and glazed w/ a sweet type of honey mustard that was very tasty. All of the sides were so good too only wished there was a bit more of each as they were gone much quicker than the meat. The only thing that wasn't exceptional was the wings, & they were still pretty good.

That plus the food making us sick makes this a definite DONT VISIT. As a mac and cheese lover PLEASE don't waste your money! It looks waay better than it is! Presentation is there, the flavor is not:( You could definitely make WAY BETTER mac & cheese for yourself at home. Hell even KFC's mac is better! So serious about that! The mac & cheese was insanely bland and the service was horrible. The employee got irritated with us when we were ordering and he made sure to let us know! I have worked in customer service for over seven years and this is honestly one of the worst ways I've been treated while ordering. It was my first time there and I still knew what I wanted, but he was so rude and pushy we should've just left! Side note: I understand I got "The Basic" but even basic Mac should have good flavor and this was not even cheesy. Somehow you can't even taste the cheese0_0 astonished and disappointed! I literally added crushed up cheezits and BBQ sauce at home and STILL couldn't choke this down! Mac & cheese is literally my favorite food so that's pretty bad mac man
