My tip for ordering here is to consider sharing the smoothie bowls since they are so large and filling. It had been about a year since I'd been to Denny's Latin Cafe on Overseas Highway in Key Largo, and…read moreI decided it was time to make the trip back to what I've previously called the best Cuban food north of Havana. I walked in and was greeted warmly, and within minutes I was reminded why I remembered this place so well. It's authentic. No gimmicks. No trying too hard. Just good Cuban food. Since breakfast is clearly one of their superpowers, I went with the breakfast burrito loaded with eggs, cheese and potatoes. Wow. "Delicious" doesn't really do it justice. The eggs were perfectly seasoned, the potatoes had that beautiful crispness, and then they brought out their jalapeño hot sauce. I put some on the burrito and immediately asked, "Do you bottle this?" Yeah. It was that good. We also had the steak and eggs, and they nailed that too. Perfectly runny eggs next to a juicy, flavorful flank steak. Exactly what breakfast is supposed to be. A year later, the verdict hasn't changed. Yeah, this is the real deal. I still maintain that Denny's Latin Cafe serves the best Cuban food north of Havana. Five stars. And if somebody knows where I can get a bottle of that jalapeño sauce, we need to talk.

Everything was fresh, delicious, and the perfect way to start the day. The service is always friendly, the atmosphere is welcoming, and it's one of those places we genuinely look forward to visiting every year. If you're looking for a great breakfast stop in the Keys, this place is definitely worth the extra drive.
