    Our view from Cabin 7.

This place deserves 5-stars to the 10th power. If you're looking for rustic elegance in the almost middle of nowhere (you are about 20 minutes from many necessities and several indulgences). The hosts have thought of everything. Each cabin is decked with quality offerings- everything you could imagine an upscale cabin should have. The washer and dryer are a nice touch. Family games. Nice linens and plenty of bathroom and kitchen amenities. I really can't think of anything they haven't thought of, and provided with first-class quality. There is a public game area with newer pool tables and arcade games. There is a small library with books and other information about the area. The cabins are sitting on a breath-taking piece of property. We had time for only one of the many hikes that start mere feet from your door. It was to one of the most interesting waterfall ravines I've ever traversed. A very simple walk through the woods with amazing pay offs throughout. I don't know how this property could be more inviting or the hosts more gracious to deal with. You should come here! (except on the weeks I want my favorite cabin....).

Where do I even start?! My husband and I have been lucky enough to stay here... 5 different times! It's our favorite long weekend getaway. We actually got engaged her 6 years ago! Chuck and Christine (owners) are LOVELY! They make us feel like family when we check in and they make the reservation process super easy. If you are a returning guest then you get a 10 percent off discount! There are about 7 cabins on the property which are all spread out nicely. Cabin 1 is our absolute favorite with the best views (in my opinion)! Each cabin has something unique so you can't go wrong in any cabin. Cabins are all different sizes. Check their website for more info! We just stayed in Cabin 1 which is always sparkling clean! Perfect amount of space for 2 people. Kitchen is full with pots, pans, silverware, cups. Bathroom has all the soaps, shampoos and conditioner you might need. There is a washer and dryer in the cabin for your use. Typically we stay near Christmas and this was our first time in June. Both times of the year are great! I highly enjoyed our June trip because we were able to swim at the river attached to their property (about a 15 minute walk through the woods). Be prepared to walk up some hills on the way back! I would suggest bringing a towel, maybe a tube to float on and some refreshments. It's a cute spot with a lot of privacy! We also saw some wildlife while we were out there. Be on the lookout! The views from Cabin 1 are spectacular (see my picture!). They also have a "moose barn" with plenty of games like pool, shuffleboard, and arcade games. With COVID-19, it's recommended you wear a mask in the moose barn. Overall, I could go on and on but I'll stop here- JUST BOOK NOW! You won't regret it. Close to Stowe and Waterbury. So many delicious restaurants and things to do. Can't wait to go back!! Thank you Chuck and Chris

My Wife, Toddler and I stayed in cabin #7. It's a nice one bedroom unit. Each unit seems to have a small porch and a grill, AC, WiFi, Satellite, a full Kitchen (with cling wrap and foil), Grill tools, Laundry, etc. everything was in top condition and clean as can be. There is a separate play building with some minor arcade stuff (Pac-Man, pinball), Table games (pool, foosball, shuffleboard, checkers/chess) a lending library including hiking books, and your typical spread of brochures and area information. There is a shared fire pit for bonfires with wood/starter available in the main building... overall, we love it and look forward to being able to stay again.

I honestly do not know where to begin. From the moment I spoke to Chuck on the phone prior to our visit I knew we were coming to the right place. They allowed us to check in a bit earlier and that was very helpful given that we were driving for hours from NY. When we arrived at Muddy Moose Christine was there to greet us and she was very friendly and sweet. The pictures serve no justice as to how beautiful the cabins are. I would refer to it as the 3 C's: Cozy, Clean, and Comfortable! I am very very very picky when it comes to cleanliness and when we arrived it was spotless. The front door has a code that you use to enter, which is good so that you don't have to worry about losing your room key. There are hooks to hang your coats and a tray to put your boots after coming in from the snow. There are games in the living room and a nice fire place. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need to cook as if you were at home and everything was in perfect condition. The bathroom has heated floors, extra towels, shampoo, soap, conditioner and a washer and dryer! (AMAZING!) The bedroom has a spacious closet and comfortable bed. The only thing that I wish they had was a down comforter. But that's just a personal preference. Each cabin is walking distance from one another which is perfect if you have friends staying in other cabins like we did ( we booked 4 of their 7 cabins that weekend). This location wasn't far away from Stowe so we were able to go skiing during the day and come back to our cozy cabin at night. I have been here 3 times and can't wait to go again.

The view of our cabin from the field. It was stunning.

The staff was warm and friendly. I only have one criticism. While the A/C was working, we had difficulty regulating it to feel comfortable. It was rather cold and clammy at night, but by morning, we felt fine. It wasn't so much the cold part that bothered me, but the clammy part was what got to me. Everyone kept saying how unseasonably hot and humid it was for Stowe, so who knows... maybe the A/C just had difficulty regulating itself... or we didn't know how to use it properly. It wasn't bad, per se, but it was a little uncomfortable some of the time. The room overall, though, was really great. Also, we loved that they had Netflix and Amazon Prime, so we could settle into the shows we were missing while traveling. That was a nice surprise ! Most hotels don't offer any of that. We had planned to dine out at one of the local restaurants, but we found out they were serving dinner at Grant's, the inn's restaurant. We were tired after traveling around all day, so we stayed at the inn and ate a great meal at Grant's. (See separate review for that.) Also, the common areas in the main building next to the restaurant are very tastefully appointed, spacious, with lots of games, books and sitting areas for people to utilize. We walked around them to see what there was but returned to our room to relax and watch some of our shows. My only regret was that we couldn't stay longer. One night in Stowe just isn't enough, especially at the Stowe Village Inn. Let's hope there will be a next time !

This bed and breakfast hotel is amazing, not only it is located within a few miles of many places…read morein Vermont it is also located in a paradise within the amazing mountains of Vermont. First time staying here and I enjoyed my stay, the rooms are cozy and good size to give you space and comfort. The one thing I did not like and ONLY thing I didn't like was there is no air conditioning in the rooms so during summer months or cold winter months witch they get a lot up there it can get warm in the rooms specially if you leave your door closed and locked. I really like this place, the dinning area is amazing with a piano and a nice long table and a view of there back yard witch is also very nice. They have a movie theater yes you can watch movies here or enjoy popcorn/candy and watch whatever movies they offer. The pool is heated so you won get cold and freeze and also they size of the pool is pretty big for a bed and breakfast place, they have a jacuzzi and a bar with beer and a tv. Pretty much everything you want and need is here in a beautiful area of Vermont in the mountains not to far from the capital of Vermont (Montpellier) or Vermont's biggest city (Burlington) only a 45 minute drive thru the mountains. Great place to stay while in Vermont specially if you are coming here during the winter months for skiing. Big kitchen is also here but for use for private party's and weddings witch they also do a lot here. Rooms have mini fridge with silver wear and plates also a sink and some have a couch and table and a balcony with a view of the center garden area. It can get noisy if you choose the rooms closer to the entrance, early in the morning you can hear dump trucks and construction people, if you have money to spend stay in the other side with plenty of rooms up stairs and even your own private kitchen witch is mainly rented out to big family's or party's. This place looks small from the outside but when you walk in you will be amazed, the no ac in the rooms did not bother me much because they do have portable heaters/fans that can cool Off your room or warm it up so I still give this business five + stars. I absolutely love this place.

My girlfriend and I arrived at about 7pm at night and were greeted at the front door by Rick, one of the owners. He assisted us in carrying our bags to our room and then gave us a nice tour of the place. This house was HUGEEEEE and has something to do for every person in the family. Rick first took us to their indoor swimming pool/hot tub. The pool and hot tub had covers on it to avoid the temperature of the water from dropping too far and from also getting too dirty. There was also a treadmill in there which we could use if we wanted. He then took us up their beautiful staircase to their movie theater. The theater was very nice and personal and he had a good selection of movies to choose from. They also had their own popcorn machine and candy to munch on while enjoying a movie. Then he showed us their dining hall where we were to have breakfast every morning and asked us what time we were planning on having breakfast. Then he wished us a good night and let us on our merry way. We went back to the room to wash up and get ourselves situated and my girlfriend could not stop talking about how nice our room was. We stayed in the Red Maple Suite and my gosh the room was amazing. We had a queen size bed, our own TV, our own bathroom, sink, mini fridge, microwave, balcony, table, couch, coffee pot and iron. That is one of the GREAT THINGS about the Maple House INN. Each room has its own bathroom with shower or tub along with a good sized bed and mini fridge/small kitchen. Each room also has its own personal temperature control. We were able to control the temperature of our room without affecting any of the other rooms. They even had HEATED FLOORS!!! The mini fridge had some small waters in it which we found to be very thoughtful and considerate of them to put them there for their guests. When we woke up the next morning, we went down to the dining hall and met with Rick and Lynn. They asked us what we wanted for breakfast, and us not being very picky eaters, told them to surprise us. Rick made some delicious french toast, served with orange juice, tea, a bowl of fruit, and of course, maple syrup. That was by far some of the best french toast I have ever had. Their two pets, Charlie (dog) and Opie (cat), were there also to greet us. They were some of the cutest and most behaved pets I had ever seen. Over the course of our 3 day stay, we were served eggs benedict (which was damn good), french toast, and a cream cheese filled french toast for breakfast. All came with a bowl of different fruit and choice of drink (juice, water, tea, coffee). We also watched a movie in the movie theater and Rick was kind enough to pop up some fresh popcorn. Rick told us that if we wanted to watch another movie at another time, then to just let him know and he would play it for us. We also used the hot tub and swimming pool every day. The cover was not much work to take off, simply crank and roll the pool cover off. The hot tub cover was easy to take off and replace. Rick and Lynn were some of the nicest people we had ever met and really felt welcome staying at their place. My girlfriend and I had an amazing time and are looking forward to coming back and staying at their place again! HIGHLY RECOMMEND STAYING HERE!!!

However, the experience declined quickly. Breakfast was mediocre at best. The omelet was bland, and the oatmeal felt like an afterthought -- disappointing given that breakfast is part of what you're paying for at an inn like this. The second night was where things truly went wrong. There was no hot water. We specifically booked this inn for the jacuzzi tub after a long hike, which was the main reason for choosing this property. Instead, we had to check hourly to see if hot water returned, never did, and ultimately went to bed dirty from hiking with no ability to shower. The following morning, the situation escalated unnecessarily. The innkeeper confronted me and aggressively asked me to step into the kitchen, accusing us of breaking a toilet and shattering porcelain on the ground. I was shocked and told him I had no idea what he was referring to because we did not damage anything. I asked for a moment to understand what he was talking about and was told, angrily, that I had "one minute." I declined breakfast that morning -- which was unfortunate since that's one of the supposed highlights of staying here -- and asked if he would like to inspect the room before we left. He refused. I even offered for him to look at the bathroom to see how it would have been impossible for us to damage the toilet, and again he declined. Importantly, we had tipped the innkeeper who cleaned the room, who reportedly found the alleged damage and cleaned it up -- yet noted nothing to us and showed no concern at the time. The belligerent and accusatory behavior of the innkeeper completely overshadowed any positives from the stay. This is not how paying guests -- especially those booking for a romantic getaway, honeymoon, or special occasion -- should ever be treated. We will never return, and I strongly caution anyone considering this inn, particularly if you are looking for a peaceful, romantic experience.
