What an amazing store! The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and can help you with any of your needs (from food to supplements to toys). They genuinely love animals, and know pets by name and give out liberal amounts of treats (always checking to make sure your pet is not allergic) and lots of love. Everything is a bit pricey, in general things cost $1-3 more than Petco. But Mud Bay carries a great selection of foods not available else where and has a kick ass return policy. The store is always clean and bright and you have to worry about stepping in a 'present' left by another customer. read more

This has been our go-to store for high quality dog food, treats, toys, and supplements. I like that they have a dog grooming service inside, and the staff are always very helpful and knowledgable. They carry several of the nicer dog food brands that we use, which do not have corn or soy fillers. Our fox terrier is very particular about his food and he loves the EVO and Taste of the Wild brands best. There is always plenty of parking and their prices are competitive to other stores. I would just prefer to support a local business rather than a large pet food store if possible. I would definitely recommend shopping there, especially if your animal has special dietary needs. read more

I love this place. I go to the Westside store usually because I love Tristen. She is so informative and when there was a recall on California Natural she went above and beyond to find me alternatives that would work for my very finicky dogs. She knew the answers to all my questions and I was amazed at her level of customer service. All the staff is very helpful but I recommend seeing Tristen! read more

Kind, helpful staff. My dog got his nails trimmed next door and unbeknownst to me was bleeding. When we came into the pet store he slipped because it was raining and his paw was bloody. Staff immediately came to assist with a doggy first aid kit. They sat with us on the floor and waited until his nail stopped bleeding. Thank you! read more

I'd like to preface this by saying that I'll be talking about the company, not exactly the stores... I shop at the Greenwood location because the people there are amazing. That's what I really care about. But there're things that need to be said. Two weeks ago the company rolled out a new register system. They clearly pushed it out way too soon. I was there a couple days into it, and the employees seemed to have it down pretty well. BUT, (and here's where I say it's too soon) the program kept locking up the computers. I waited in line forever, and when I did get my turn, it seems they didn't enter all the products into the system! The poor clerk had to run around the store and manually enter it. Fast forward two weeks. I come in to buy the same stuff... Luckily there weren't any crashing to be had, but it seems they STILL haven't entered the products! Not a smart move Mud Bay! Something so critical to your business such as your register system should be fully working before it implement it! At least get it fixed! Anyways, so that alone called for a low rating, but the thing that convinced me to rate the lowest possible was that I emailed the company with my opinion... It's been two weeks, and they still haven't bothered to write back to a loyal customer. Only thing keeping me shopping at Mud Bay is the staff at Greenwood. read more

This is a great store. The employees are all super helpful and they have really cool and unique cat toys that my kitties love. I went in recently looking for cat food that did not contain several common ingredients that one of my cats is allergic to, with a plan to look around myself so as not to bother the employees with my weird specifications. Tristen saw me looking around, confused, and ended up spending a good chunk of time listening to what I needed and helping me find exactly what I needed. With her recommendation my cat's mystery skin condition cleared up within a week and he is doing so much better now, even after several visits to the vet previously. There was another female employee helping me at the same time who was also very nice, but unfortunately I don't recall her name. The prices here are great and the employees are wonderful and truly care about animals. While you can find almost every brand of gourmet dog food under the sun here, there are definitely some brands that they will probably never carry, and they will try to downplay their quality and steer you toward a brand that might have gourmet ingredients that won't be found if the company suddenly decides to discontinue the recipe, then what will you do? I suggest finding a quality food that has ingredients that can be found everywhere, in case you are away from home with your dog and need to get your usual brand to avoid explosive diarrhea, which can be disastrous on road trips. I was actually at a store (not this one) where they recommended a dog food whose main protein source was opossum! Another time I was at Mud Bay the clerk said I was "dehydrating my dog" by not feeding her wet dog food. I feed kibble at the vet's recommendation, and also because wet food draws flies especially when you have large dogs who are not that fastidious about their eating habits. Certainly flies, and their bites and disease spreading ability are more dangerous to a dog than feeding her kibbled dog food. The freeze dried brand was $75 for a 8 pound bag. I do enjoy going here after bathing my dogs for a well deserved treat. This place is however on the trendy side when it comes to pet food and pricey. I bought a raincoat here (needed in Olympia) for my dog that was useless because the Velcro would not stay fastened because the straps were too narrow. $50 down the drain! read more

The absolute best pet store. I was pretty much sold after they gave me free canned food for my cat to try multiple times. They have great staff, all extremely helpful and willing to spend as much time with you as needed. Their prices are really good and basically everything they sell is healthy for your animals. It seems like they are open all the damn time so its very convenient. I will never go back to Petsmart and Petco. read more
