I feel absolutely zero hesitation in giving this place five stars. They're always amazing. Staff is kind and helpful. Lots of little treats, free samples, etc. And it's always clean and organized with an attractive interior. I just enjoy shopping here, and I'm not a person who enjoys shopping as a rule. When our old Cocker Spaniel was sick with an autoimmune disease, we brought here here to find a food she would eat that wouldn't make her sick. The staff was so sympathetic and sweet. They gave us all kinds of recommendations and samples to try with her. When we got a new kitten, we brought her here all the time to try and desensitize her to travel and new things. (It didn't work. She's a total scaredy cat now, but that's just a cat thing.) She tried out toys and we found her all favorites, so now we can buy them for her even though she's scared of her own shadow. Everyone was always welcoming. Well, of course they were. Kittens are adorable. I brought my old rescue parrot here, too, to help socialize him, and everyone was super sweet to him even though he was less cute than a kitten. This is a great place to go with pets. It's a calm environment with just enough activity. My only complaint is that I wish they would go back to carrying Harrison's bird food and maybe some good parrot toys, but I understand why they can't. Supply and demand and all that. Anyway, highly recommend. One year (before Covid), they even did Santa photos for pets, which I thought was an adorable idea, and I hope they do it again if things ever get back to normal. read more

If you need the highest quality organic catnip sewn into sustainably tie-dyed toys or you want to start feeding raw food, Mudbay has you covered. It's a high-end, healthfood store for your pets. Prices are reasonable for the quality, and definitely beat the big box prices for quality pet food, but be prepared for sticker shock if you normally feed Purina. The toys selection is fantastic. Even my fickle cats like the toys I buy them here at least 60% of the time. My dogs love the gifts I bring closer to 90% of the time. If you've wasted many dollars on pet toys they never use (as I have), this might offer you some reassurance. The staff, honestly, is one of the great variables of Mudbay. They run hot and cold. Sometimes they are super friendly, full of info & happy to help with any problem. I love Mud Bay. Years ago, I adopted my pup and brought him to mud bay to pick out food, a bed, and all the necessities one needs to become a new parent. One look and their employees knew I was a new mom. They asked me if I just got him and I still had the papers freshly inked in my pocket. They set me up with a bunch of discounts and free food and samples and recs. a whole package of things for me and the Puds so that we could take our time getting to know each other instead of worrying about something I may have had to get at the store. They treated my Pup with the love of a thousand aunties and uncles and I continued to stop by the store through out my years running between Oly and Seattle. I went into this store and was VERY clear I wanted a pet conditioner spray. The person helping me was very rude and told me it was my pets diet and explained that she had been doing this for ONE whole year. I told her that I didn't need advice on diet and just wanted to know the difference between the $6 conditioner and the $16 one because there were new brands since I last worked in a pet shop. She just said that the $16 was more popular but could not explain WHY! She wouldn't even look though the packaging. She was SO rude to me I had to run out of the store. This store hires their friends or something because no one there seems to know ANYTHING about pet supplies or food. They have one robot answer for everything. I would try and work there if I was not so horrified by their opinion of customer service. read more

oh, wow. Mud Bay. They are amazing. Pricey, but you can take ANYTHING back, which is important with a picky cat like mine. They were able to solve my cat's digestive problems, which FOUR vets couldn't figure out! We switched my cat to raw food, and no more major (and smelly and gross) digestive issues! Yay! And the raw has made it so his litter box does not smell. At all. Seriously. Its amazing. When the manufacturer ran out of the raw rabbit (which was the only raw he would eat), at first we thought, well he'll eat the chicken if he gets hungry enough, but Mud Bay advised us that can be dangerous - if cats go without eating for more than a couple days it can damage their organs. They said cats rely on their noses to figure out what food is and since raw doesn't have much of a smell, suggested that we put a little of a strong smelling canned food in with the raw and mix it up. Worked like a charm! And was much cheaper. We can also vary my cat's flavors more too, with canned seafood, duck, beef, etc, so he doesn't get bored. AND they give free/reduced samples of almost any food they carry, dry, wet or raw! These people know animals super well, have wonderful products, and a great return policy. I LOVE Mud Bay Granary. Their customer service is awesome...the quality and variety of products is fantastic - and I won't go anywhere else if I can get cat or dog products here. Feeding my cat and dog high quality food that contains minimal additivies is uber-important to me for their health. I know that Mud Bay carries more of these products than you can imagine. They also have a super-generous sample policy - tons of small bags of food to take home and test out as well as being able to get a can of soft food to try. I've had canned food that my cat has HATED - and, silly me- I bought 3 or 4 cans of the stuff. They let me exchange the food for something else without any questions or the receipt. They also allow you to bring a bag of food back, opened, if the animal ends up hating it. They support lots of smaller producers of food and toys - and I always love supporting these! Outstanding pet store. Every 3 weeks I bring my pup to the Mud Room for a nail grind and trim. The groomers are incredibly gentle and Wilson is always happy to visit. Afterwards we visit the store for a treat. Twice we've purchased two stuffed toys. Both are well made and have survived the daily chewing and tossing about. The staff are very nice and their Covid-19 protocols are excellent. Highly recommend! read more

Prices here are actually significantly lower than Petco or Petsmart and the quality of their food is far superior. Very healthy. They have a fabulous selection of pet beds, toys, cat litter, supplements, AND food - both dry and wet. If you live in the Olympia area, there is absolutely no reason to shop anywhere else for pet supplies. The Oly location is bigger and offers more goodies, but the employees at the Lacey store tend to be more friendly (and lucid). read more

A great treat "buffet" of bulk treats for dogs, and a great price on high quality pre-packaged treats. A huge selection of toys for cats and dogs, including some eco-friendly brands. They also accept returns if a food or toy doesn't live up to your expectations. Wow! I try to buy local but salesperson Kristy told me today that I have to use my my bank card as a Debit because of the chip technology. She maintained this even after another salesperson told her how to use it as a Visa, saying there are rules and I can't count on using it as a Visa next time. This is a great pet store that revolves around providing pet owners with the highest quality food and toys for their furry children. We stopped in one evening and were greeted by a friendly face. Their selection of toys is nice especially all the eco-friendly stuff, but I feel that they are a little too heavy on the fuzzy toys. Rally will destroy anything fuzzy in a matter of seconds. Their food selection is excellent and they carry all the top notch brands, including Wellness, which we currently feed Rally. They also have a fairly large selection of treats you can buy in bulk at a pretty low price. I liked this store, but I wish there were more durable toys to choose from. read more
