We were nearby as my boyfriend wanted to stop by the new Daiso location to get some towels for our fur babies. We decided to go in Mud Bay as the kids have been in the car for a bit so we wanted to get them a treat or toy. When we entered, we were greeted kindly by the staff. Each staff member were super helpful with all our questions, assisting us on weighing our fur babies, and providing genuine customer service. They gave our fur babies many treats and pets, which is always nice for our social dogs. After our purchase finished, they gave us a cute card thanking us for shopping and a $5 coupon to use next time. Definitely coming back to support such a sweet business! read more

Such a clean shop, lots of goodies for your fur babies! Large variety of food, dry, canned and fresh or frozen. Toys, treats, shampoos and whatever your pet needs they have. Always clean, tidy and extremely helpful and friendly staff. You can order online and then go to store call and they will place in your trunk. I have never ever had any kind of issue or bad service. I would only recommend this shop for the products, but never the customer service. Granted, their shelves have also been pretty lackluster lately. The female employees seem to be friendly and sincerely helpful for the most part, but the male birth gender employees need a serious attitude overhaul. For whatever reason during check out, the blonde/funky hair colored one that likes to walk around like the shop manager, always seems to be in a massive rush to get customers out of a practically empty store; even going so far as to drop purchased products at hand-over, while casually brushing it off with a cavalier "oops" instead of offering an apology. The other brunette with glasses refuses to bag items on a customer's behalf when they're obviously placed on the counter for them to do so. The recent BYOB bag mandate doesn't mean cashiers' roles have been cut in half. The complacency from both workers is appalling and presents a really poor image for a local company that sells products at a premium. My fur baby loves their food and treats that I go through the hassle of coming into this brick and mortar store, but I'm reluctant to recommend them to anyone and if I end up having to deal with either workers, I consistently leave feeling like I'm doing the wrong thing by supporting a company that continues to staff and maintain unprofessional employees. I get it - y'all work for minimum wage, but at the very least, do your job sufficiently from start to finish. read more

Hands down the most friendliest staff. If I were the manager all the way up to the owner I would be very proud of the staff at this location. My hat's off to Christian, Percy, and Jess. Today I walked out with a better mood than I walk in with. Mud Bay has even saved my dog's life. A previous manager gave me alergy information, received during his training. I came in because my cats love a food that they carry. So I got a case. I was told first that the case was one price, then it was a second price. No big deal I was going to put the $30 difference on my card. They said that it was store policy that they can no longer accept split payment over $20. Whatever. I went to pay with cash, I was going to give exact cents so they didn't have to split a $1 but before I could even reach for my wallet the cashier said that I looked like I needed to be more prepared. Today was our first time in this store, it's relatively new to the area but I think it's a great addition. I was expecting high prices and was shocked to notice that the dog food was $5 less per bag than local chain stores. We buy expensive dog food for our girls and every little bit helps. Staff here are always friendly. They mentioned to me and my girlfriend that they keep their prices matched and try to lower them a little with competing pet stores. Which is true! Only place to get my dogs food which is Taste of the Wild. Couldn't find this brand at pet smart or petco. Normally I love Mudbay and the weekend crew is great! However, I stopped in today at around 1045am (I don't normally on weekdays) and there was a female working (tall with boy short black hair) who was incredibly rude. I asked about a policy she was enforcing that she told me was in effect since 2020. She said this in the most condescending matter of fact way that I met her with the same tone. She clearly was not a fan because she stared at me and said okaaaay. It was such a simple thing (I forgot my refillable bin and she wouldn't apply the discount) but she turned it into a lecture rather than hearing me say I was unaware as I've never had an issue. Overall, I don't care about the discount, but I spend a significant amount of money here and this shouldn't be an acceptable level of customer service. Super disappointing and a turn off to shopping at this location all together. read more

Don't pass up the selection of raw food! Ask sales staff about it and become acquainted, you'll be glad you did. I get better products here, would never shop at Petsmart or Petco. 99% of their food is not healthy, along with grocery store food. I feed raw and do a combo of buying and making my own treats. If you want to try and eliminate vet visits, feed your dog better (and stop vaccinating). read more

I went into this Mud Bay expecting it to look like the others I've been to. It's essentially the same layout but the shop is a little smaller than some of the others. That's due to it's location but that didn't stop them from packing as much merchandise as possible in there. It doesn't look cluttered but you do get an immediate feeling of being overwhelmed when you first walk in. Thank goodness for all the employees being in the center of the store at the register area. As soon as you walk in you are greeted by one of the shop employees that offer to help you find whatever it is you're looking for. But if you're just browsing like me and taking pictures of the shop it's kinda annoying because the employees stalk you. It's a small enough shop that they can pretty much see you from the counter but at least one will be on the sales floor with you asking you every two minutes if you need any help. And since I was taking pictures I could hear one employee complain to another about me. And after only a few minutes a male employee approached me asking why I was taking pictures. When I'm shopping, I want to be left alone and if I have a question, I'll ask. I don't like being followed everywhere. Also there's no harm in taking pictures for Yelp because it can help bring in more customers... All in all the shop is clean and well organized. And aside from being a little aggressive, the employees are friendly and try really hard to be helpful. It's a bit on the pricey side because of the all natural things but if you demand organic or just want something different this is the place to go for your pampered pet! read more

So I have three dogs that rarely agree on anything: they don't agree on what time to go to bed, whether to take a walk, when to play, and trying to find food all three of them will eat is, well, difficult. So imagine my surprise when my mom brought over some treats from Mud Bay's doggie treat bar and they proceeded to snork them up whole. I have no idea what they put in those things, but whatever it is it WORKED. This is a smaller store than the Puyallup location, but there's still plenty here: it's split into dogs on one side and cats on the other, rows and rows of food (canned and dry), toys, general health items and of course, the doggie treat bar. I really like it here, the employees always seem friendly and willing to help, and it's clear they have pets of their own and love them as well. read more

Mudbay has a great selection of QUALITY dog food (food you can't find at PetCo or PetSmart), toys, treats (frozen treats, organic, and grain-free as well!), and more. They even have freezer with a selection of raw foods. When I first brought my puppy, Maxwell, to Mudbay, one of the employees gave me a free puppy starter goodie bag! It came with info about caring for a new puppy, waste bags, a tennis ball, and so much more. It was so nice of them because it gave me useful information and lots of resources. I first went to Mud Bay in Seattle at the UVillage, and when I moved down south I was glad to find one here. It is pretty much the same as the previous one I was familiar with. Friendly staff and the supply they keep on treats, etc I love because they showcase local products! You can also get tags engraved here. There are 2 options. One that they do right in the store and another that seems a more sturdier/quality tag that they engrave and it comes back in 1 week. They have different tag sizes for each style. I wish they rotated the dog toy selection a bit more, because I feel like I have bought a lot of the toys already! lol Although it is not super friendly to my wallet my dog (lab mix) loves the toys, food, and treats from this place. I would always do your own research before buying a particular brand from a chain store, but when I have compared to this place to others I don't think you will find somewhere that sells the same quality for much cheaper. Last i checked Petco and/or Pet Smart don't carry Taste of The Wild in their store. The parking is also great b/c I always find a spot close to the front of the store, and the location is right near my fav Trader Joe's, so i get my food shopping and my dogs checked off in one visit! read more

I love going in here. It's like walking into a Whole Foods but pet version lol! That's the best way I can describe it. Sure, it can seem overpriced but they really do carry some of the best, quality products. Their staff is also super knowledgeable anytime I have questions. My favorite Mud Bay! I do all of my shopping for my Alaskan Malamute at Mud Bay because they do such a great job of building a team of truly caring animal lovers. You feel like you're talking to a highly educated pro whenever you ask for recommendations for food, treats or special supplements. They'll tell you the pros and cons as well as what is most popular and what they feed their own fur kids and how they like it. The staff is always friendly and will even help you to your car if you need a hand. I only wish they offered a customer rewards program because I spend between $500-700 month. Have been to many other Mud Bays and although Federal Way is my favorite I really do love them all. read more

I'm a huge fan of this shop. For my dog's food and snacks, I always had gone to Petsmart. Now Petsmart is still a wonderful place- but this Mud Bay is a new, great addition. I'm a frequent shopper when it comes to their bulk snacks. There are plenty of different flavors and types of crunchy, dry snacks. My dog loves them and i'm happy knowing that they are healthy and not full of artificial flavors. The people who work here are very nice and can be ready to assist at any time. This place is my favorite dog shop where I purchase all the food essentials for my four legged babies~ the return policy is amazing. If your dog doesn't like the food, you can simply exchanged it for something else. As long as you have that receipt! They take the returned product and donate it~ how nice is that? As far as the staffing goes~ they're all super friendly and kind. And you can surely tell they're all dog lovers too! Whenever I've brought my baby Daisy in, they greet her with smiles and puppy voices along with rewarding her with yummy treats and samples. In addition, when my dog is under the weather, this store is the only store that carries organic canned pumpkin. I recently discovered my pup has Localized Mange on face. I called Mud Bay to see if they had an ointment i heard about online to help treat. Now they did not have it, but the woman who was helping me was truely compassionate about her job. She asked if it was okay to do some more research on her end to find something that would work pricewise for me and not be hard on my puppy's face and that she would call me back shortly.
