This place was confusing to say the least. It used to be a different restaurant, and when we showed up expecting the old place, we were greeted with whatever this is. The thing with restaurant remodels, is they either go all out, or just paint everything, and not even the right way. Think lipstick on a pig. They are going for a live music place I believe. They missed badly on it. Maybe at night no one cares nor notices...on to the food. It doesn't get much better. We had the chilaquiles Mexicanos, the quesadilla plated, the parillada La perrona, and one chicharron taco. This time let's get the pluses out of the way. The charro beans that came with the parillada were some of the best I've had in a while. They were spicy, flavorful, and full of all the best things you expect. The corn tortillas were great! The coffee came in these beautiful barro cups, and the coffee was fresh! Unfortunately that was about it. The service was just ok. I'm giving her a pass, she actually said it was her first day. The parillada...well..first the portion compared to other local places, even down the street was small. It lacked seasoning, and the shrimp was waaay over cooked. They also gave us the smallest piece of sausage they could find apparently. Not worth the price. The beef fajita, what little they gave us, was not bad. The quesadillas were just ok. I mean it's hard to not mess them up, yet they are so simple that you can tell when they put as little effort into making them. The chilaquiles again were waaaay too sweet. It's like and epidemic in San Antonio. One day I believe we will find the right ones! One day. The rest of the plate was pretty much the same, just meh. Where the corn tortilla on the chicharron taco was spectacular, the filling lacked again flavor. At least the table sauces were good. I can't recommend this place. read more
