I was expecting, well, mucho from Mucha Mucha. It came highly recommended from my colleagues who get tired of eating the same thing. I will say, the night I went, it was late (yay for a late-night food spot in Charlotte!) and they were a little understaffed for folks wanting to eat in the dining room. The place needed a cleaning - sticky table tops, empty napkin holders, etc. but the staff were nice. The food is ok. The queso saved the night, but I'd skip the drinks. My peach margarita tasted like it was made with the concentrated juice from a can of cling peaches. I'm still sad about it.

Listen, there are some negative reviews on this page -- and I'm here to tell you that those people are shitheads. Go eat at this place. A dog might bark at you when you walk in. The TVs might not play anything worth watching. But the food is fucking awesome. They have tequilas that I've never heard of, and that taste amazing, don't order something you can find at the corner store. The staff are friendly if you're friendly and curious. Sit and do some shots and drink some beers and eat some tacos. Fuck the haters.

Micheladas- not on the official menu but worth it!

Totally random visit but worth it. We were uptown on a random mission to find somewhere to grab something quick, albeit after 9pm. Pulled up Yelp and it actually said the bar next door served late night food so we went there first but the bartender said all they had was Jell-O shots so he told us to check out Mucha Mucha next door. So one note, this was a Monday night, during NFL football season, and this is located on a bit of an alleyway with a couple of additional bars that all have open store fronts. It feels a bit like New Orleans, but on a much smaller scale - but with some of the same sketchy individuals you would see on Bourbon. Either way, upon entering Mucho Mucho, we were immediately greeted by the owner, and from there, our service only got better. Even though Michelada's weren't on the menu, we asked if they could make some, and they kindly obliged. And boy did they! The bartender that made our drinks, took about 10 minutes to put them together, but it was worth every minute! Perfectly balanced, and he even added Tapatío to boot! In terms of food, pretty standard Mexican fare with a couple of familiar items for most part. However, there were a couple of exotic tacos on the menu, including lobster. We went with something much more standard. I had the Birrieria quesadillas, and the lady had the the Mucho bowl. We also ordered the we also ordered the esquite, but I definitely would pass on that in the future. Tasted more like canned corn with some cream and cojita cheese thrown in to boot. Wasn't bad, just wasn't truly authentic. Outside of that, everything else was great, and I would definitely visit again, especially if we need to find a place to watch the game and chill out at the bar on a weekday night.

Ended up here because it was 9pm on a rainy Wednesday night after a work event in Uptown and almost everything else walking distance was closed. As we entered the establishment, there was no one to greet us or take us to our table. There's what seemed to be 3-4 teenagers hanging at a table, one of them with his head down on the table. They were employees! The one who took our order couldn't answer any questions, and on top of that, they said our plates came with rice and beans and then said they had stopped offering the rice and beans because "not enough people asked for it". WHAT? It was listed on the menu, but we were not going to argue over it, so we left it there. A few minutes later they come out and bring us rice and beans. ‍ The quesadilla wasn't great. The service left much to desire. The whole situation was simply odd. Safe to say, I won't be planning a trip here anytime soon.

Like a little kid I have been waiting for this place to open up since it is right around the corner from my apartment. I was so excited to see the open and taco signs lit up in their window. This spot is exactly what I thought Downtown Charlotte needed. A late night Taco spot! They have a small menu which is easy to choose from with tacos, ceviche, tamales and more. I got a tamale, and one shrimp and one steak taco. My friend got the steak quesadilla. Everything was great, the service was the best part. They offered me their special salsa (mucha salsa) and we got esquites to finish up. I think this will be a staple in Charlotte and I really hope it stays. It's right in the middle of the french quarter so it's hard to miss. When they are able to serve drinks (pending their liquor license I believe) I will deff update this to 5 stars.

We found this place on accident one Sunday morning and it was absolutely incredible. The food was absolutely to die for and the kitchen was quick with it! The drinks were strong but delicious and the atmosphere was perfect! I forgot to take more food pic because it was all so good!!

Tacos El Nevado came highly recommended, so I headed over for lunch with high hopes. The restaurant was packed when I arrived around 1:30 p.m., which is usually a good sign. It appears to be a converted fast-food building with its own parking lot, outdoor patio, and a casual, family-friendly atmosphere. Despite the Charlotte heat pushing triple digits, the dining room was comfortable and bustling. Service was friendly from the start, and I was quickly seated with ice water, lemon, fresh chips, and three house-made salsas. The chips were excellent--fresh, crisp, and clearly made in-house. The standout salsa for me was the red salsa, which packed plenty of heat and flavor. There was also a tomatillo salsa and a creamy green avocado-style salsa. Both were good, although the tomatillo leaned a little too tart for my taste. The menu is extensive, with everything from seafood dishes and quesadillas to tacos and larger combination plates. As someone who loves sampling a little of everything, I was hoping for more traditional combo options, but this menu takes a different approach. I ordered the crispy taco plate with rice and beans. The presentation was attractive, with the tacos served upright in a metal rack alongside refried beans and Mexican rice. The rice and beans were both delicious and easily the highlight of the plate. Where things got mixed for me was the taco filling. I was expecting a straightforward seasoned ground beef taco, but the beef filling tasted more like a guisado-style preparation with a softer texture and a slightly tangy flavor profile. It may simply be a regional style or a misunderstanding when ordering, but it wasn't what I had anticipated. The chicken taco, however, was excellent. Tender, flavorful, and clearly made with higher-quality chicken than you typically find in a crispy taco. After trying it, I immediately wished I had ordered all chicken. While this visit didn't completely win me over, I don't think it's fair to judge a restaurant by one dish. The packed dining room, friendly service, fresh chips, excellent salsas, and strong chicken taco all suggest there's more to explore here. Next time, I'd skip the crispy beef tacos and dive into the street tacos or some of the house specialties that seem to be what many regulars were ordering. Tacos El Nevado didn't become my favorite Mexican restaurant in Charlotte on this visit, but it earned a second chance. Life is too short not to eat well, Charlotte. Keep exploring. Sometimes the next great meal is just one menu item away.

We got two Burrito Fresas (one grilled chicken and one chicken tinga). The burritos had the COOLEST crunchy cheese coating on the tortilla that the hugs all of the ingredients inside the burrito. Both the grilled chicken and the chicken tinga were phenomenal. We truly could not decide who the "winner" was because they were both so flavorful. Now, to talk about the other fun part!!! SORBET MARGARITAS! I'm obsessed. I had initially seen Que Fresca on social media, specifically for the soft serve margs. And let me tell you - they did nit disappoint. They have two flavors - strawberry and lemon (and then you can do a swirl). They were SO refreshing and delightful!! It was such a fun way to ~eat~ a margarita! All of the staff were friendly and very quick. The restaurant is well laid out and I love that it had TVs to watch all the games. The idea is that place your order, pick a seat and your order is delivered to you. We picked our seats at the bar first because it was pretty packed for Friday night. We took our time to browse the menu but we knew we'd be getting the IG viral Sorbet flights we'd seen. Now on first attempt we got our food, it was completely cold. We informed one of the waiters and asked for our meals to be remade. So upon getting my food second time: 1 Birria Taco, 1 Chips and Queso and 1 Chicken Tinga, it was warm. The Birria taco was my favorite as the chicken didn't hold too much flavor for me. Now we ordered 2 Sorbet flights. We didn't get them as advertised.. no rim coating and the flavor offerings were duplicated. As we compared what we got from other patrons we saw what was missing and the flavor differences. Overall our meal and drinks were underwhelming and we let the staff and manager on hand know. She apologized for not making our Sorbets with rim coating and the food mishap. As guest of NC for the weekend, our host told us we'd gone to the wrong location.
