So I only stayed for drinks and got chips and salsa. Which surprised me weren't free like in most Mexican restaurants. These were $7 which he typed in himself so I'm not sure if he just decided to charge me on his own or what. Anyways for $7 I would expect my chips to be hot and fresh not stale. The salsas that came with it left much to be desired the Verde sauce tasted like the jar sauce from Heinz. The menu doesn't give you prices for drinks so make sure to ask to avoid any crazy totals. My margarita was all sour mix and her Jameson and ginger was all soda. Overall drinks were poorly made. The restaurant itself was basically empty and it still took about ten minutes to get those drinks. The place is covered in contrasting elements. It's a very busy look. read more

Down a busy Charlotte alley you'll find Mucha Mucha. With an open entrance you'll find no one to seat you and then think to just seat yourself. The one waitress was handling all tables, so we decided to cut her some slack. She did manage to bring the food out quickly but our drinks did take forever. The Barbi-tini, a specialty cocktail, was crafted well and was quite delicious. The captain and coke my bf got was brought with the coke can and what was less that half a shots worth in another glass, to mix ourselves. There are no price on those drinks in the menu so ask before. Tacos and nachos were delicious, but would recommend the nachos come in a plate not in a bowl for easier picking. I was expecting, well, mucho from Mucha Mucha. It came highly recommended from my colleagues who get tired of eating the same thing. I will say, the night I went, it was late (yay for a late-night food spot in Charlotte!) and they were a little understaffed for folks wanting to eat in the dining room. The place needed a cleaning - sticky table tops, empty napkin holders, etc. but the staff were nice. The food is ok. The queso saved the night, but I'd skip the drinks. My peach margarita tasted like it was made with the concentrated juice from a can of cling peaches. I'm still sad about it. read more

Totally random visit but worth it. We were uptown on a random mission to find somewhere to grab something quick, albeit after 9pm. Pulled up Yelp and it actually said the bar next door served late night food so we went there first but the bartender said all they had was Jell-O shots so he told us to check out Mucha Mucha next door. So one note, this was a Monday night, during NFL football season, and this is located on a bit of an alleyway with a couple of additional bars that all have open store fronts. It feels a bit like New Orleans, but on a much smaller scale - but with some of the same sketchy individuals you would see on Bourbon. Either way, upon entering Mucho Mucho, we were immediately greeted by the owner, and from there, our service only got better. Even though Michelada's weren't on the menu, we asked if they could make some, and they kindly obliged. And boy did they! The bartender that made our drinks, took about 10 minutes to put them together, but it was worth every minute! Perfectly balanced, and he even added Tapatío to boot! In terms of food, pretty standard Mexican fare with a couple of familiar items for most part. However, there were a couple of exotic tacos on the menu, including lobster. We went with something much more standard. I had the Birrieria quesadillas, and the lady had the the Mucho bowl. We also ordered the we also ordered the esquite, but I definitely would pass on that in the future. Tasted more like canned corn with some cream and cojita cheese thrown in to boot. Wasn't bad, just wasn't truly authentic. Outside of that, everything else was great, and I would definitely visit again, especially if we need to find a place to watch the game and chill out at the bar on a weekday night. read more

Ended up here because it was 9pm on a rainy Wednesday night after a work event in Uptown and almost everything else walking distance was closed. As we entered the establishment, there was no one to greet us or take us to our table. There's what seemed to be 3-4 teenagers hanging at a table, one of them with his head down on the table. They were employees! The one who took our order couldn't answer any questions, and on top of that, they said our plates came with rice and beans and then said they had stopped offering the rice and beans because "not enough people asked for it". WHAT? It was listed on the menu, but we were not going to argue over it, so we left it there. A few minutes later they come out and bring us rice and beans. ‍ The quesadilla wasn't great. The service left much to desire. The whole situation was simply odd. Safe to say, I won't be planning a trip here anytime soon. read more

Awful in all senses of the word. We were one of only two tables occupied, and service was absent. The queso was like it was squeezed from a box of white cheddar Velveeta mac and cheese foil envelope. Yeah, the consistency and taste were very off putting. Chips were stale and our shrimp quesadillas were something a very white teenager would make as a snack when adults were away - frozen shrimp, bagged shredded cheese not fully melted, and stale non-oiled tortillas. Our kids ordered the nacho bowl, and that was a pile of ground beef in a bowl with five chips stuck in the top. Yikes. The location is so fun, so this is a bummer that this food was overpriced and borderline inedible. read more

Great quick lunch spot. Stopped in for a $10 burrito lunch deal. For the price it was great. It came with a really solid and flavorful burrito and a decent little dash of accouterment (lettuce, onion, avocado, lime). Also came with a can of soda. Tough to beat for 10 bucks really. Like a little kid I have been waiting for this place to open up since it is right around the corner from my apartment. I was so excited to see the open and taco signs lit up in their window. This spot is exactly what I thought Downtown Charlotte needed. A late night Taco spot! They have a small menu which is easy to choose from with tacos, ceviche, tamales and more. I got a tamale, and one shrimp and one steak taco. My friend got the steak quesadilla. Everything was great, the service was the best part. They offered me their special salsa (mucha salsa) and we got esquites to finish up. I think this will be a staple in Charlotte and I really hope it stays. It's right in the middle of the french quarter so it's hard to miss. When they are able to serve drinks (pending their liquor license I believe) I will deff update this to 5 stars. read more

If I could give this place - stars I would. I am highly allergic to flour and informed the waitress 3 times prior. Yet after consuming my meal and feeling violently ill, I received my receipt and on it it said all flour. I informed the waitress who said her manager would come speak to me and he never did. While I was in the bathroom my friend informed the manager who said he'd give free drinks to make up for it and then said actually only 50% off and then kicked out out of the establishment, none of these offers fixed the issue at hand and a refund was never offered. I was extremely ill and upset and so were all of our friends. Will not be returning. DO NOT GO. SERVICE AND FOOD IS HORRENDOUS. read more

I ordered 2 veggie tacos and a chips and queso and it was so bland and disappointing the food was terrible and dry as all hell and the "queso" isn't that it's cheap yellow nacho cheese that you would get at concession stands and a baseball game or something the chips were gross. Over all I am super disappointed l. It's located in the French Quarter in Charlotte. Honestly I have been so disappointed with with quality of food in Charlotte recently and especially with how expensive it all it, for 2 they tacos and a 2 oz portion of nacho cheese was 20$ like wtf?! Was going out after work with some friends and came across a great tucked away street in Charlotte called Brevard Court. It is filled with restaurants and pubs. We decided to sit down at Mucha Mucha for some food and drinks. Hey, it was Taco Tuesday! Our server, Katie, was awesome and guided us to the best things on the menu. If she waits on your table, take her advice. She knows what she is talking about. On Taco Tuesday, they do have a chicken and steak tacos for a discount, but I would pass on that and go for their specialty tacos. Katie told us to try the Cheesy Birria Taco and that we would would not be sorry. She was right. They were fantastic. The beef melted in your mouth and the sauce they served with it enhanced the flavors in all the right ways. You want to get at least a couple of those. I also tried the El Pastor Taco. It was good, but the Birria Taco is the winner! Margaritas were also discounted for Taco Tuesday. I usually do not go for the "happy hour" type margarita since they are usually nothing but mix. Katie again guided me to give it a try...she was making it! I did. I am not sure it was my favorite margarita ever, but it did live up to the advertisement. It packed a bit of a punch. Next time I come back to Charlotte, it will be back to Mucha Mucha. read more

Today we went to mucha mucha, it's a Mexican place and now time to rate it. First off I got 1 singular beef soft shell taco and man was it hard to order. I said "1 single beef taco plain only cheese" simple right? No it was not simple. I was asked what cheese? So I'm like just normal taco cheese like I just want a beef taco with nothing but cheese. "So do you want the tortilla?" Lol. Why would I not want the tortilla shell? I'm ordering a taco. You want the melted cheese? I just want cheese. *proceeds to grab picture of normal cheese* yes that is the cheese I would like. But somehow we still weren't in the same page so I got a beef soft shell taco with queso cheese which ended up being fine but like did it need to be that hard? No. So my taco came and the meat just tasted like hamburger. So my taco tasted like a cheeseburger which was fine because I like cheeseburgers so if you want a taco that tastes like a cheeseburger you now know how to order it and where to get it next up we got the enchiladas, they seemed to be pretty good and I was even able to get a quote from the enchilada man himself "they were good, they were like normal enchiladas" a poet, am I right? My one complaint though is the drink selection they only had cans of coke or sprite, and for $3 for a CAN seems kinda unflattering so that was bogus. But overall if you want some just normal quality Mexican, this place would fill your desire. read more

DESSERTS DESSERTS. the tres leches cake has me in a chokehold. there's another soft pastry dessert mil hojas that is saved for special occasions for me because i don't always deserve it it taste like someone's auntie is in the back making it fresh. mole sauce is i order the chicken mole wrapped in a tortilla. tacos are solid, put the coconut siracha on anything and it'll boost your plate by 100. enchiladas are great, creamy and perfect about of cheese. rice and beans are better in house than to go but rice could be a tiny bit more seasoned, but that's just me. i add the coconut siracha the beans are more whole and black beans, so don't come looking for the smashed brown refried. the street corn is phenomenal, not on the cob, loose in a bowl but it doesn't matter to me, it's fantastic. jeffrey is behind the bar and is so funny, such a vibe. he really makes the place glow. they have seating outside in the alley and the large doors at the bar are open on nice days. location is 10/10 unless it's game day and you're looking for a relaxing evening read more
