We had the worst service, our waitress came to our table 2x. She seemed really put out to even have to deliver our food. Never came to refill our drinks. Had to ask twice for our check-which they passed along their card fees to the customer. So, they'd rather have cash from some COVID infected customers. Makes sense. The food was mediocre at best. I honestly didn't realize I needed to ask for my hash browns to be cooked. Or that I needed to request that my sourdough toast have butter put on it. It's dirty, old and has not been maintained. We are not newbies, we've been eating here after backpacking trips, on our way to Mammoth summer and winter. We are done. I would much rather have a waitress that gives a crap, rather than this waitress and hostess who was more concerned with her long, ridiculous nails. It was a hot day in July, I had spent a few hours hiking through snow to Robinson Lake and drove through Lone Pine on my way to the Alabama Hills. Feeling a little hungry and not looking forward to backpacking food, I walked a bit along Hwy 395 and saw the "Best Burgers In Town" sign posted in the window here. Not one to pass up a good challenge, I went inside. Some ice water and a cold beer made for a great start and I ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger. This thing is a good looking burger, with ample strips of crispy bacon plus onion, pickles, tomato and lettuce all piled alongside. It's hiker bliss to just sit down, relax and have a good meal I definitely recommend this place for a good meal. I didn't have the ice cream to finish off my feast but they always have a good selection so make sure to plan for dessert. read more

after a grueling 17 hours of hiking, this place tasted like the best thing i ever ate in my life. it wasn't really thhhaaaaat good, but it's a fantastic place to get brekkie at after hiking mt whitney. i got a classic breakfast plate with bacon eggs toast home fries and it was solid. unlimited refills on coffee. the coffee provided me with the mental energy i needed to recover from altitude sickness the day before. shout out to margaret from yelp LA for giving me a bunch of nuun packets, they probably saved my life after hiking. getchooo electrolytes lol read more

This restaurant advertises "The best burgers in town. " However, I think it's just the opposite: burgers are mediocre and the service is terrible. Normally, I wait a few days or even more before posting a review. But, this place warrants a review after just finishing lunch right now. First, the outdoor seating area is filthy. Tables aren't wiped down and the concrete is littered with leaves and trash debris. To their credit, the place just finished with the lunch rush. For whatever reason, two different food servers were helping me. One took my drink order and the other took my food order. The food orderer rushed to the restaurant to begin work, as she appeared to be late. She wasn't friendly and forgot to ask me how I wanted my burger cooked. I had to send the bus boy back in to tell her what I wanted so I wouldn't get an undercooked burger. The burger was mediocre. Nothing special. Just a 1/3 lb patty with cheese and ortega chilies. French fries were barely warm. Really no excuse for that at all. When I ordered she asked me what I didn't want. Told her and the plate still arrived w/everything that I didn't want, in terms of condiments. About 15 minutes elapsed between the time I finished my meal and the point where I was getting antsy and wanted to leave. Yet, nobody showed up with the bill, so I came in and asked someone if they wanted me to pay for the meal. My food server forgot to tell me that the restaurant adds almost 4% surcharge for credit card purchases. The only reason this place is still around is because they're on the main drag and therefore get a lot of vehicular and pedestrian traffic. We were very hesitant to eat here because of the terrible reviews. But then I remembered that this town is filled with LA douchebags most of the year and they would despise the Americana present on display inside. So we took a chance. And it was fantastic. In fact, it was so good that we came back again the day after. We tried the Teriyaki burger (substituted chicken)--phenomenal. Actually, their teriyaki sauce was excellent. Not sure if it was a special brand or they make it but we loved it. Like crackiyaki. Chicken was very tended and cooked perfectly. Also tried the bacon cheeseburger and steak. Meat was a tad overcooked but I mean a tad. Nothing to complain about or send back. And certainly nothing like what I read about. In any case, steak was very juicy and well seasoned. Service was good. Decor is awesome. Still trying to understand why people are hitting this place so hard so I can only think that the iconography--especially John Wayne and anti-PC stuff everywhere drives these SJWs nuts. read more

He was super nice and gave us excellent service, chatting with us about the area and recent occurrences etc. They had Sculpin IPA on tap which is one of our favorites so that was more points for them. I had a pretty bad experience here. It seems like a small, family restaurant and it has a cozy feel to it. However, our waitress was so rude. She acted like she was doing us a favor by serving us and answering the one question we had about a menu item. She made us feel really unwelcome. We ended up paying $30 for two burgers plus an extra 3.9% fee for paying with a credit card - which we were not warned about beforehand. In addition, our waitress did not show us the receipt until she charged our card, so we were not able to see the items on the receipt until after we had already paid. Also, the bread on my patty melt was burned and the French fries were not fresh. Overall, I recommend picking another restaurant when you're visiting Lone Pine. read more

Visitors here in this little town we thought this was the only place opened but to find out after no actually there is a lot of restaurants within a few blocks from one another.. this restaurant and town was used for filming back in the day so all over the walls they have all kinds of old pictures of actors and actresses all the history and nostalgia in this restaurant you can spend hours here looking around. We came on Halloween so it was cute to see people dressed up kids and adults. Everyone had on masks for the covid every other table was open. They say this is known for their hamburgers well sorry I didn't have one.. we had sandwich's I had a beefeater which was really good the bread was fresh and toasted just perfect. Husband had a patty melt he said was really good and toasted perfectly our waiter was a young man interesting fact about him he grew up in this little town and loves it here has no plans on leaving... for us that just pass by take some time and come in and visit check out all the pictures here I am sure this small town has a lot to offer I know for us we always just drive through I'm glad we stopped this time and next time we will spend a little more time catching some sites here.. u til the next time read more

We used to enjoy this restaurant and we were truly saddened by our experience this time. We were basically sat in the corner and forgotten. There was one waitress for our side of the restaurant and as that side was full guess who got passed over...I got my iced tea and no offer of a refill....we were finished with our salads and the plates sat on the edge of the table until I stacked them with my supper plate that I had scraped my extra supper off of into the to go box...the box that I had to get up and search out the waitress for, cause once she gave us our food she certainly never came back by our table...oh wait cause she had no time...the quality of the food is the only reason they didn't get 1 star...I have to say they have maintained their delicious food but it doesn't say much when they don't have the service to go with it. read more

Slammed our drinks on table along with the flatware which we had to ask for three times. The sodas were flat. The hamburger I ordered was undercooked. Raw in the middle. Another family member sitting at the table ordered chicken tenders which were over cooked which made it difficult to eat. Very rubbery and solid that might break your teeth. If I could give zero stars I would! We got to the restaurant a little after 8 am with 2 servers and 1 other costumer in the building. They were pretty fast with giving us menus but then we were forgot about for 15 20 mins After we order our drinks and food together (We ordered black coffee and tea. ) (corn beef hash and over med eggs with chicken fried steak and eggs) We waited another 15 mins before we said something. Brilliant old-fashioned diner crossed with a saloon. Loved the wild-west vibe and my burger (with green chili and pepper jack) was delicious. Fries were great, too. The service was a little disorganized, but my visit was still in the throes of changing COVID protocols and re-opening, and the staff did their best to keep on top of everything. There's a piano on one side of the dining area that I would love to hear someone play! It definitely seems used, not just a decoration. Half the decor highlights Mt. Whitney and rustic local life, while the rest focus on all the film stars that have stayed in the area for the huge range of movies filmed here. It's all really fun. The fries were good but seriously the burgers were so overcooked they were dry and the bun was much larger then the burger andthe meat was cooked to oblivion. One in our party ordered the light plate which was a grilled chicken breast, cottage cheese and sliced tomatoes. There aren't many diners to choose from when you're coming off the slopes of Mt. Whitney into the small town of Lone Pine, that sits at the base of the famous mountain. No, on this March morning I wasn't backpacking Mt. Whitney, but I was camping in nearby Panamint Valley, and I was looking for a great breakfast, so I made to drive to Lone Pine, to enjoy the fine cuisine of the Mt. Whitney Restaurant. My visit to this fine restaurant was actually in March of last year, and I'm now just getting around to publishing it on Yelp. Over the years, many movies, mostly western, have been filmed in and around Lone Pine, particularly in the nearby Alabama Hills, just west of town. The restaurant is decorated with movie photos - many of them signed - from countless Hollywood westerns that have been filmed near town. In keeping with the area, the decor is quite western, including a set of horns from a Texas longhorn bull. Mt. Whitney Restaurant's breakfast menu offers many choices, but I homed in on chorizo and eggs, and that sounded spectacular. Side choices include toast, biscuit and gravy or corn tortillas, so I broke out of the mold and ordered corn tortillas, and received for perfectly toasted corn tortillas. My friendly server, Mitzie asked if I wanted salsa - duh - and she brought out a little cup of delicious in-house made salsa. The breakfast comes with a MOUNTAIN hash browns! They're delicious, as they're fried to a golden brown on the outside, but the inside is chewy and yummy. Naturally the eggs and chorizo were mixed together. The tortillas arrived on a separate plate, but I put 'em on the hash browns, as that just seemed like the natural thing to do. The salsa was heavenly. This was a delicious breakfast! Mt. Whitney Restaurant is a great diner, and is a favorite of locals, truckers, cowboys, and the many people who drive on U.S. 395. The food is delicious, the decor is quaint, and the staff is friendly. When you're visiting Lone Pine, I'd recommend a stop at Mt. Whitney Restaurant for a delicious meal. This is your basic eastern Sierra diner, which serves delicious, solid, diner cuisine, in a very basic restaurant. I love it! The food is basic and delicious, the staff is very friendly, and the price is right. I love everything about this fine restaurant, and rate it a solid 4 stars. Enjoy! read more

Cute little diner for tourists and locals alike. Friendly service, and they advertise the best burger in town. I don't think there are a lot of burgers in town, and theirs are a bit higher on price, but the patties are juicy and thick so you do get what you pay for. The Horseshoe Meadow is a double, and I love the grill lines. They also make pretty good fries, and there are plenty of other sides as well if you're not feeling potatoes. If you ask nicely they'll even let you get a piece of deep-fried corn on the cob, and what doesn't taste good when it's deep-fried? It's a long road trip up to Reno, but we're discovering all sorts of new stops along the way. Time to check Lone Pine's best burger off the 395 bucket list! read more

Been coming here for years and it just seems like the service is just getting worse. Waited at the counter for 15 minutes before I had to say something to get them acknowledge me. Absolute terrible customer service. Will not be coming here again. It is my opinion that they strongly deserve a one star at this time.
