Great place. Amazing biscuits and gravy (even during lunch, custom request). Lots of historical photos on the walls. Got a ham club, was perfect. They did forget to bring me my soup but biscuits and gravy made up for it. read more

This place will continue to exist no matter how great or terrible the reviews are, so I figure it's better just to be honest and not spare anyone's feelings. The service here is painfully slow and the servers I've encountered so far don't have a good idea about the ingredients on their menu. It goes without saying that this isn't an ideal place for folks with food restrictions or allergies. Not a lot of options here... Vegetarians and vegans, they don't have a simple red sauce + pasta. Everything has meat, cheese or butter. I ordered a salad with no cheese, added oil & vinegar as dressing. Croutons also have cheese. This place isn't my first pick. I wasn't even able to cobble together the side of avocado + bread option as I do at most diners. If you have no food restrictions, this place is still only "ok". Per the meat eaters, there wasn't anything to write home about regarding the burger or any of their salad which all include meat. One thing that has been consistent year after year is the service is pretty lousy. Come prepared to wait. read more

Horrible , horrible service. Over 10 minutes and still waiting for someone to take our order! If I'm gonna pay 17 bucks for a burger, I expect decent service to go with it. read more

Loved the old world atmosphere, the friendly service and our burgers were so good, tasty patties freshly grilled, thank you we will be back

There's ample parking off highway 395. When we were seated, our waitress was super nice. I felt very welcome at this place. This place was western nostalgic with rustic wood ceiling beams. The American diner food was really good. We had their country fried steak. I felt kinda bad that we just split this one dish, but the staff was super accommodating with our request. If I ever drive back to Lone Pine again, I would definitely consider this restaurant. read more

4.14.2024 Plenty of parking and clean restrooms, nice decor inside and reasonably good food . Good bar seating and beer on tap . _HOWEVER_ terrible service from the lazy greeter who simply walked off and left a group taking the menus with him and doing the same to many others who came in after me . The plastic coated menus were sticky to the touch plus had food debris stuck to them, it only takes a FEW SECONDS to wipe them off . The waitress I had was clearly over worked, several of the severs (3 men, 2 women) were clearly not even trying to work hard .(looking at their cell pones instead of helping Customers, clearing tables etc., etc.) My waitress wore black plastic glasses and never came by one in over an HOUR of me sitting there waving at her every time to zipped past me turning her head to pretend she couldn't see my empty glass (No refills) nor that I'd finished my food and was trying hard to order some pie, I saw her deliver pie to other diners, when she finally stopped to hand me the check I asked if I might get some pie and she said 'nah, too busy here's your check' so NO TIP . I'd say try this place but don't expect much . -Nate read more

There aren't a lot of choices in Lone Pine. We love the Alabama Cafe but they close at 3pm & all day Wednesdays. Mt Whitney Restaurant was the best alternative we found during our 6 days in the area. The service was quick & friendly. The food was hot & tasty. There's a lot of film history with the photos blanketing the wall. I ordered the bbq chicken and it was flavorful & juicy. The deep fried corn on the cob was chewy & dry though. My wife ordered the spaghetti plate with garlic bread. The meat sauce-heavy dish was pretty good & filling. The cheesy garlic toast was a great side. One note: I noticed a sign on the wall stating debit/charge cards have a 3.99% surcharge. Not much but we paid cash. read more

The food is mostly American flare. It is an easy stop as you are traveling up to Mammoth. The service is slow so don't go if you want a quick bite. We were a large group and this was the only spot where we could get a table for 10. We were in the bar area on bar stools. They didn't serve us right away so as I mentioned it was slow to get our order, eat and leave. No fanfare here. read more

Very good food and excellent soup make sure to get the root beer float and the staff where very nice

Our server Tina was amazing. I would highly recommend stopping here for breakfast, lunch, or dinner anytime on you way to Mammoth.

I've had the maverick and onion rings. The hamburger was delicious, the vegetables on the burger tasted fresh, the onion rings could had been a bit more crispy but still good no complaints. I'd stop by there again! read more

The pawrents have eaten from this restaurant twice. The first time it was ok. They're pet friendly so we all sat inside. The food was okay. The second time the pawrents ordered to go. Their prices online are not accurate/ updated . Upon picking up, they charged twice the amount, gave attitude, person handling food didn't seem to practice great hygiene. We will no longer eat here nor recommend this restaurant. Booo. No bones read more

I can't tell you the amount of times we've driven by and walked past this place but never made a stop in. Well, first off, your kind in the middle of nowhere. It's a pit stop for a break, food or gas in the town. Not your typical place for a holiday. It caters to more of people out for a fishing weekend, hiking, camping, mountain biking and so on. Still outside of mammoth mountain but a nice pit stop. There's a few eating place around there. We happened to just walk in as we were across the street. We were greeted and seated. Anywhere we wanted. Started off with a beer which was much needed after the drive from LA and being in the car for quite some time. Menu was quite good. Family style diner but with a good selections dishes. Food didn't take that long to arrive and was quite tasty. Everyone working was all so friendly and attentive. Chatted with us asking if we were in the area for hiking, camping, etc. Pretty cool spot for a quick meal and drinks. Food was great and staff was friendly. Overall experience, enjoyed it. read more

Came in for lunch/dinner. Sat at the bar. Very friendly staff. The sign said "best burgers in town" so even though I don't eat beef I was intrigued by the ostrich on the menu. Ordered ostrich burger, fries and strawberry shake. The ostrich was med rare but still i thought it lacked flavor. Basic burger setup- cheese, lettuce and tomato. No bread condiments but theres ketchup. The fries were perfectly seasoned to my surprise and the shake was made from actual strawberry ice cream. If I come back it wont be for the ostrich. read more

Came here during our camping trip at Diaz Lake. Our first impression was it's not crowded. Honestly was going to another popular restaurant in town which I won't mention by name because it's overly crowded there. MT. Whitney restaurant was perfect. Not loud or crowded. The food is great! I ordered the steak picado and added over medium eggs. Service is good, was seated right away. They allow pets! So my Selena (Matipoo) was able to enjoy a beef patty no salt. She seemed to enjoy that! I would recommend coming here to try it out for yourself if you're ever in town. I've never been here for lunch or dinner however, the waitress did say that they have a bar that serves beer no hard liquor and there is a stage where they karaoke up until 9 PM.. I feel it's worth mentioning and I will be returning to check that out. I love the ambiance, low non offensive music, nice decor. read more

So this is my 2nd review of this unapologetically mediocre dining establishment. I used to cringe at the incredibly rapid turnover rate of their clearly unhappy and somewhat miserable employees, of which the current ones have been here for at least a year or two. Shocking. What makes a customer like myself keep coming back you might ask...well, I like to give the underdog a chance. I really do. There burgers are unseasoned, if bland, the hashbrowns are undercooked, grilled cheese sandwiches contain unmelted cheese, and it's often freezing inside. However they do make a pretty decent salad. Getting back to the insufferable staff. I'm not sure where to start. They seem distant, as if Lone Pine is the last place they'd like to be. When I came in, my waitress was cordial, yet brief, distant and I had to keep asking for things, to which she would become gruff, scuttle off and return without another word. I, to my surprise, was very warm and friendly to her in the hope that she would chipper up. No such luck. But when another local came in, her whole personality changed, have mercy. She became a new person. Why can't they behave that way with the rest of us? It's quite a disturbing thing to witness. Hopefully, someday soon, their food quality will rise up to match the level of their complete disdain and unabashed nonchalant attitude for inviting repeat business. It's almost as if they just plain old don't care. Til next year...or two. read more

Had the Classic Combo Burger w/ onion rings. Nice and tasty burger after 14 days on JMT. Onion rings a bit stodgy but none left over. Loved the local, on-tap brews. I had the Mojave Red and was hoping to find in store (no luck). Homey atmosphere and worth a stop. read more

We sometimes stop at Lone Pine for a stretch break en route to or from Mammoth and never tried this place. Glad we finally did! It was one of few options open past 8pm on a Friday so choices were limited. Food was really good! Maybe diner food / comfort food tastes better in cold weather?! We enjoyed everything we ordered and the service was very friendly and attentive. Decor's cool too - lots of old movie memorabilia/ frames line the walls. Would definitely come again! read more

Firstly, the service was very friendly and has excellent taste. The server suggested the Friday special which was prime rib. We ordered that medium rare which came out perfectly juicy. We also ordered the Fried Beer Batter Cod. She suggested fried corn on the cob for the side which was my first time trying it. Her recommendation was spot on! Will definitely return again soon. read more

Some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced. From the hostess to the server, nobody in the restaurant seems to want to be there. The staff doesn't want to be inconvenienced with you sitting outside as it's extra work for them. They don't want to have to visit your table more than once about every 15 minutes. And if you need to take a second to check the menu out as a first-time visitor, good luck getting seated anytime soon. It is completely mind-boggling how a staff that is is dependent on tips has no interest in showing any friendliness or accommodation to their guests. Their slogan about being the best burgers in town is a borderline criminal claim, they are nowhere close. There's a place just right next door (hint, the word "Alabama" is in it) with superior customer service, atmosphere (and burgers). read more

Came here 2x during a Whitney climb weekend. Great service , great food if you're looking for burgers and wings. Don't overthink it.

This place has everything on their menu. Not sure if that's a plus or not. We had regular breakfast with eggs, bacon, hash brown and biscuit n gravy. Tri-tips with eggs noodles. Nothing to rant about. Breakfast dish was good. The bacon was crispy. The egg noodles was pretty sad. The Tri-Tip had no flavor whatsoever. read more

I came to Lone Pine to camp and visit the Eastern Sierra Nevadas this past week & I must say it was unbelievably beautiful! I loved everything about Lone Pine, the atmosphere, the stores, the parks, and the scenery. My bf & I stopped by in the morning before heading back to LA to try out their breakfast. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, you are spaced out far from other people dining inside. The set-up is very Western & I loved it, so many photos of actors on the wall. They are known for their burgers but they only serve breakfast till 11:00am. We both ordered the High Sierra breakfast plate which came with 2 fluffy pancakes that were moist & delicious, scrambled eggs, & bacon or sausage. I honestly didn't think I would finish everything....but I did! The service was fast, good, & the prices are really reasonable!! They do comply with COVID-19 rules and regulations & they do have restrooms for their customers! Next time I come back or go through route 395 I will make an effort to try out their burgers! :) read more

The place to eat in Lone Pine. Servers are very nice. Tons of movie memorabilia on the walls. Big sandwiches. The homemade clam chowder was amazing. It's a traditional American diner with tasty food. The service is a little lacking and I'm guessing it's due to staffing issues, who isn't experiencing that these days? Be patient with the staff, they mean well and their busting their butts to serve you. I ordered the chicken fish and chips and thought it was great! Crispy fish with a side of delicious golden French fries. My buddy ordered a traditional burger and said it was pretty good. It's. "G - spoon" type place so I wouldn't expect anything fancy. This is an American diner, you know what to expect. I really dig the vibe inside this place. Take the time to walk the property and check out all the photos, it's interesting to see what line line is all about. read more

I had to jump on here for a review because we always have a great experience here and, in my opinion, they deserve a higher rating than they have. We are burger connoisseurs and order them quite frequently. This place consistently delivers a perfect burger. It's cooked just right with the perfect ratio of meat, toppings and bun. I always get a side of buffalo wing sauce for my fries which is delicious here. Our servers have always been friendly, prompt and polite. We order a basic burger with fries and a pastrami with onion rings. Both over-priced for what we were served and both orders looked greasy in appearance. Portions on the small side, flavor out of the freezer and service was ok and mechanical. Our original intent was the Chinese place across the highway, but it was closed on a Friday afternoon. read more

If you find yourself passing through this ghost town and are considering stopping for a bite, do yourself a favor and keep driving--or at the very least, try another restaurant. The service is underwhelming, the food is mediocre at best, the bathrooms are grimy, the soda is flat, and your "side" will likely be a small bag of Lays chips. To top it off, when we asked for the check, the waitress claimed she "accidentally" added an 18% gratuity. After we paid, she couldn't even provide us with a receipt.
