I used to use national chains like H&R Block and Jackson Hewitt to have my income taxes prepared…read more Because I got sick of paying the exorbitant amount of money these companies charge me for simple tax returns, I reached out to several local companies. Everything went very smoothly from start to end with Nissen and Associate. McKenzie, the office assistant, responded to my inquiry promptly. It was easy to set up an intake appointment with one of their tax preparers, Michelle. I dropped off my tax documents with Michelle. She emailed me with a couple of questions before finishing up my return. I swung by the office and signed a couple of documents to authorize them to file taxes on my behalf, and that's it! Painless! Because Michelle was able to give me a great discount, I paid significantly less than I paid H&R least year. I only interacted with McKenzie and Michelle, but they are both friendly yet professional. I loved that I never felt rushed or they never tried to upsell anything (like other companies I mentioned above). I highly recommend Nissen and Associates! If you end up using their service because of my review, don't forget to mention Masanori sent you!

I've worked with Metcalf and Hodge for 2 years. Both years they sent me outrageous invoices. This…read morelast year the invoice was for more than 8000 dollars. I asked them for some sort of a back up or break down, they said they would work on that and to this day I haven't received anything. I feel they have been dishonest with me. Also, I received a letter from the IRS that stated I owed interest and penalties because my return wasn't sent in on time from Metcalf and Hodge. I took the letter to Metcalf and Hodge and they said to not pay it that there were a lot of people with the same letter and they would fix it. Well they didn't fix it and the IRS sent it to collections. Lastly, the communication is horrible! They don't communicate with each other or with me. When you do finally get a hold of someone they have plenty of excuses but never get anything done. I've since switched to an accounting firm that cares and communicate.

They did not ever arrange meetings, nor did they ask questions during the year or offer any tax strategy. Once I informed them that I was switching to a new accountant they became extremely cold.
