I could not get into the gate today. I had to call 3 times. The first time I was put on hold, when…read morethe lady got back to the phone, she put it on mute where I couldn't hear her. I called back and was told I would get a call in a few minutes as the "temporary code " also didn't work. Never got a call back. I call again and the woman was rude and wrong trying to say I had a balance and I do not. A truck pulled up behind me, I let him in front of me and his code didn't work either. I got out and told him I believe it's the gate. Two other people pulled up and I told them the same. The lady on the phone says she can't reach the manager and would call me back. On of the ladies behind me says it's been down all day. I back up to turn around and leave, one of the guys behind me turns put to be the owner and lives on the property. He let's himself and the truck I let ahead of me right in. Instead of saying, no worries I can get you in when I approached him to tell him the gate was acting up. He simply said, ok thanks. So of course as I turn back around to try to get in with my code and the temporary code, no luck and owner was not in site at the gate to help.

It's difficult to "review" a cemetery - you just don't think of it as a reviewable place. But,…read morebeing a place I know well, I'll provide my thoughts on various aspects of it that others may find helpful: LOCATION Near the Augusta National, Westover is accessible via Berkmans Road SIZE Very large - if attending a funeral here, the roadways will be marked with "Funeral Route" signage. Note that most of the roadways in the cemetery are just barely wide enough for two vehicles to pass each other. If encountering one coming toward you, slow down and hug the shoulder of the road. THE GROUNDS The grounds are well maintained, and include a duck pond and meditation garden. Do be aware that, while you're welcome to place flowers and other memorials at a tombstone, the maintenance crew will remove them and throw them out once they're out of season. Westover is a peaceful place - allowing you to think and remember.

Our family cannot say enough wonderful things about Posey Funeral Directors. During one of the most…read moredifficult times in our lives, they cared for us like family. Every member of their staff was professional, compassionate, patient, and incredibly responsive from beginning to end. They truly listened to our wishes and honored every detail as we laid my precious daddy to rest. Their kindness and genuine care brought comfort to our entire family. They were also very accommodating and flexible, even allowing us to include a special personal request that meant so much to us. We are deeply grateful for the love, respect, and dignity they showed our family throughout the entire process.

My friend prepaid for his own funeral arrangements. It was agreed to at that time, with witnesses,…read morethat his friends and family from the North Augusta area would be able to view his body at the Posey's North Augusta SC location on Georgia Ave after his passing. So he passed and I witnessed Posey's telling his surviving wife that friends and family would NOT be allowed to view his body, the wife only could view. The actual viewing would be in another State because the immediate family had called after the death and made changes. This broke my friend's wife's heart and she cried as she ran out. This upset me because this man paid for a final wish that he wasn't going to get. It was explained to me (not him) that the law says immediate family is brother and sisters and not the surviving wife. Brothers and sisters can change funeral plans regardless of who pays for the services or what the original agreement was. I protested this and 2 men representing Posey's finally relented and told me that friends and family now COULD view the body. This satisfied me because I believed them. In the end only the wife and 1 person was allowed into the building. You readers know it would cost more money to allow other people in, you also understand my friend asked for and paid for this service. My advice to people considering trusting these people to handle a funeral is simple... You have been warned. Buyer beware!!!

Most of my family who dies usually use their burial services. The funeral director is a good friend of my family on both sides. My grandfather and father has done construction work for them, residentially and commercially. So it's pretty much a no-brainer when it comes to burial needs. Her wake and her remains were handled with care. There was tons of family I haven't seen in years there. She had 33 grandchildren so there was tons of kids running around. As I was leaving the wake, one of the funeral home employees was talking very rudely to the kids that was there at the wake. I thought that was out of line but hey I wasn't their parent so I wasn't going to step in for them. Other than that, everything couldn't have been better for my cousin!!!!

A needle in a haystack. This "cemetery" gets a 3.7 stars because:…read more 1. The mystery of it all. The last recorded burial was in 1910. So somewhere, under all that dirt, there are human remains. There are no identification markers, except for one that was erected as a monument by Augusta in 1981. Surrounding the site are homes and a highway. 2. It's peaceful and there's a bench. The community surrounding the cemetery looks sketchy, but it's probably because it's so old. I didn't have any problems there, though I don't recommend visiting after midnight without a taser or a proton pack. Augusta has a wonderful opportunity to develop this cemetery into a walkable, possibly botanical attraction, but still maintain its historical identity. It will cost a bit of money, but it will benefit and beautify a community that desperately needs it. I'm sure that roaming spirits would not mind a nice beautification project.
