Williams Funeral Home is premiere for their excellent services and handling of funeral arrangements. They are very professional and keeps everything classy and dignified. My grandmother had recently died and her remains were turned over and handled by Williams Funeral Home. Everything was excellent. The wake was beautiful and she was the only one they showed that night. My family was so caught up in talking and seeing everyone that we ran over our time to be finished with the wake but the staff did not rush us out. That was so greatly appreciated. You expect for them to be calm, collected, patient and empathic. Platt's was none of these things. I went in to get information about how I needed to proceed. I made it clear that I was not under a time restraint and I had time to make the right decision. The lady that I spoke with, not only tried to convince me to get things I didn't want, she also tried to convince me to sign a contract before I left. Telling me that if anyone else needs to sign, that they can come in later. I understand that they are in the business to make money, but to take advantage of someone doing this time is unacceptable. Ultimately, I went with Augusta Cremation & Funeral Care. Mr. Williams and his team took care of my loved one with care.

But,…read morebeing a place I know well, I'll provide my thoughts on various aspects of it that others may find helpful: LOCATION Near the Augusta National, Westover is accessible via Berkmans Road SIZE Very large - if attending a funeral here, the roadways will be marked with "Funeral Route" signage. Note that most of the roadways in the cemetery are just barely wide enough for two vehicles to pass each other. If encountering one coming toward you, slow down and hug the shoulder of the road. THE GROUNDS The grounds are well maintained, and include a duck pond and meditation garden. Do be aware that, while you're welcome to place flowers and other memorials at a tombstone, the maintenance crew will remove them and throw them out once they're out of season. Westover is a peaceful place - allowing you to think and remember.

I doubt many grieving parents will 'shop around' when considering a funeral home for their lost child, but I would highly recommend Poteet, no matter what the circumstance or the services desired.

However, I spoke to a young-ish sounding woman on the phone this morning, an employee who I'd talked with before. She probably didn't intend to sound so annoyed an impatient when she called me back, but she most certainly did. Her tone was kind of cold and irritable, which only made me cry harder than I'd already been crying. I felt like I was being given a sharp scolding from some cranky manager at the DMV. I was calling for an update on my mother's cremation, as I was hoping to be present when it happens because, though she's gone, I don't want my mother to go through this all alone. This is an incredibly painful time for me, and I'm navigating it as best as I can. I'm flying back home tomorrow, so it's important to me to figure out the arrangements soon. If it isn't possible for me to be there, I understand. I know there is a certain order and protocol that needs to be followed, but this funeral home employee kept repeating things like, "As I told you yesterday" and "As I already mentioned in our prior conversation," sounding more like a passive aggressive email than a compassionate funeral home employee. All I'm saying is she could've been nicer and more empathetic under the circumstances. Maybe she was just having a bad day, but she works at a funeral home, for goodness sakes. I apologize if I annoyed her, but my mother is gone and I'm feeling sad and lost. She should be used to handling calls from confused, grieving people. Please be kind and shown a little more compassion and patience to your grieving clients. Also, I left a message requesting information about writing an obituary for my mother and nobody ever got back to me about that. That's all. Thank you.
