We selected FairHaven Funeral and Cremation as the one to handle the prearrangement for our dear friend, Lore. Prior to the final day of Lore's life, my wife and I had a meeting with Steve to make those arrangements as required. Steve was most knowledgeable and showed great compassion in these times of need. As it happens, the service was actually needed the very next day! A call to FairHaven was made and from that one call, the process was transparent and went flawless. The necessary actions were done in accordance with the wishes of the family and all relevant coordinating actions needed between the Hospital, funeral home, and the cemetery involved was done in a timely manner. The actual date of burial was arranged, the transportation of the deceased was determined and arranged for the time of the simple burial ceremony. The whole process was performed in a most professional manner. The complete procedure to include getting the copies of Death Certificates, all speak volumes of the sincere desire to do what is necessary with the least amount of inconvenience to the grieving family. Most of my family who dies usually use their burial services. The funeral director is a good friend of my family on both sides. My grandfather and father has done construction work for them, residentially and commercially. So it's pretty much a no-brainer when it comes to burial needs. Her wake and her remains were handled with care. There was tons of family I haven't seen in years there. She had 33 grandchildren so there was tons of kids running around. As I was leaving the wake, one of the funeral home employees was talking very rudely to the kids that was there at the wake. I thought that was out of line but hey I wasn't their parent so I wasn't going to step in for them. Other than that, everything couldn't have been better for my cousin!!!!

My husband can't stop raving about them, and the general manager was able to connect with him on a personal level even in the midst of his deepest grief. Wonderful people, and a wonderful business. On a more logical note, their cremation urns for infants are very reasonably priced, at around 150 each. I doubt many grieving parents will 'shop around' when considering a funeral home for their lost child, but I would highly recommend Poteet, no matter what the circumstance or the services desired.

But,…read morebeing a place I know well, I'll provide my thoughts on various aspects of it that others may find helpful: LOCATION Near the Augusta National, Westover is accessible via Berkmans Road SIZE Very large - if attending a funeral here, the roadways will be marked with "Funeral Route" signage. Note that most of the roadways in the cemetery are just barely wide enough for two vehicles to pass each other. If encountering one coming toward you, slow down and hug the shoulder of the road. THE GROUNDS The grounds are well maintained, and include a duck pond and meditation garden. Do be aware that, while you're welcome to place flowers and other memorials at a tombstone, the maintenance crew will remove them and throw them out once they're out of season. Westover is a peaceful place - allowing you to think and remember.

They've used them in the past- praising their work and professionalism. So my family and I went with them. They took my mom from the Piedmont Hospital and from there took very good care of her. We had a meeting the same day she passed and they were very sympathetic and patient with all our questions. We ended up purchasing a beautiful white casket. The following week we had the visitation there at the funeral home, service at the church, and the burial at Fort Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia, South Carolina. The most memorable moment for me is the slideshow at the visitation. Amy the receptionist did an amazing job with the pictures we picked out. The music and the way it was assembled brought tears to many included myself. It displayed living her life to the fullest. I was impressed with the website. It showed the obituary, the dates and times of the funeral, leaving comments, and if you would like to purchase flowers. When your loved one passes away, it's stressful and the most difficult part of your life, but Thomas Poteet made this transition so easy. The communication was on point and the staff was very sincere and understanding. My family would like to thank you for your service and watching over my mother.
