This is hands down the best music store that's ever been in Augusta. I have known many of the musicians who work and frequent the store for years and Deveron the owner. Not only are these some of the best musicians in the East Coast, their music selection is vast. My 9-year-old son started taking guitar lessons from Dave and his confidence level has improved so much. If I could leave no stars, I would. This was the absolute most atrocious visit to a music store that I've ever experienced in my life. I walked into 440 instruments with my son of eleven to look for his first guitar for christmas. The owner was parading around in a bath robe and was using foul language I did not approve of (RED FLAG) but I looked past that. He then walked up to us and asked if he could help us out. I told him that we were looking for a beginner guitar for my son for christmas. He began to show us a couple guitars over a hundred dollars that my son and I simply were just not interested in because they were over priced and cheap no name guitars. The last guitar he showed us was a cheap guitar that I could have just bought at target. I then asked him if he possibly knew of another place that I could find a cheaper package deal for a reasonable price. He then told me that my question was rude and offensive and told me to take my buisness else where. So as we were walking out, he overheard me telling my son that was not the correct way to conduct buisness. The owner then basically ran up to us before we could even walk out of the store, and got in my face like a drill sergeant who wanted to fight and began shouting obscenities and telling me that I was a pos father who couldnt afford a 150 dollar guitar for my son right infront of everyone. Feeling regretful, embarrassed and almost ashamed, we walked out. He then proceeded to follow us out of the store shouting and cussing at us. This tremendously upset my son to the point of where he was almost in tears. He was terrified that the owner was going to come attack his dad. What was supposed to be a special christmas memory for my son and I was transfomed into a complete and utter nightmare for my son. Ive never experienced such behavior and unprofessionalism from a local buisness owner. Needless to say, we will never return to that store again and I pray that whomever reads this review will avoid this owner, this store and this type of conduct. read more

First time in this store. Came in to browse and look at guitars and amps. As soon as we entered the store, we were subjected to strong second-hand smoke which made it uncomfortable to remain inside the store. We exited after only a few minutes to get fresh air. I wanted to like the store, looks like it has a good selection. Ironically, as we exited, we noted there is a "No Smoking" decal by order of Augusta Richmond County Government on the front door. read more
