First time I called I was told to call back and ask for the tech, Frank. I called back later and asked for him and they refused to let me speak to him and said they would give him the info and they would call me back. After three days, no return call. I called back and told them of my experience and the lady I spoke to that day (Sharon) said she would have Frank call me back. He called and left a message for me to call back, I called back and again the lady that answered tried to refuse for me to talk to him. Finally, they put me through. Frank and I talked, great guy, very willing to help... he and I agreed I would bring my part in for him to see if he could fix it. I brought the part in and again, the lady (the manager) was being difficult that they had to have my machine etc. I told her the agreement Frank and I made (that he would try to fix that particular part and if he could I would then bring in my machine to be serviced). Then the manager told me I would have to pay a $30 deposit. Now why am I paying a deposit when they have my part... of course, I can't get the part back without paying for it. Needless to say I told her I was done with their company and would never use them again. Nothing but a manager and some staff impossible to deal with (rude etc) and asking for deposit when I clearly cannot walk out without paying once repair of part was made. I stopped in here to buy some fabric for masks. I was looking for quality material that wasn't JoAnn common and seen everywhere. This place did not disappoint! It seemed to be a locally owned business with friendly staff. I highly recommend for fabrics and they had a sewing classes while I was shopping around. The fabric was honestly higher quality than Joann at a better price. Great experience! read more

I can't believe in a town this small, I can actually say to my husband "not that vacuum and sewing shop-the other one on Washington." I can't say I've really ever given this place a second thought but they were the only Dyson authorized repair shop and my new Dyson ball wouldn't stand up after the first once around the living room. This being my third Dyson vacuum gave me a sense of assurance and utter defeat when I couldn't figure out what went wrong. It took a little over 2 weeks to order the part and have it workable but it was much cheaper than tossing it in the trash after going after it "Office Space" style. They were up front about what was needed, gave a fair timeline for parts delivery and had it quickly repaired afterwards. Even with the hair of two furry monsters, they managed to clean it out and make it almost like new. read more

NEVER again! I will drive 5 hours out of my way to a different Bernina store from here on. They charged me for a cleaning/oiling service and didn't even do it. I had to hear that from a different Bernina store as I was still having issues with my machine after their "service". No way to prove their negligence, other than I trust the other store's assessment and visual evidence. They also carried out covered warranty work that this Augusta sewing center would not do without payment of parts and labor. That's fraud. Do not buy machines or have service from this establishment is my best advice. I've owned Bernina's for 30+ years and lived in different states with them, this store is by far the worst of such a reputable brand. read more

I love this shop! Staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. I went for a class on my new machine. Wonderful instruction by the way! I thought I wasn't buying anything, but of course I did. Ambience. A Service. A Price. A Big clean bright store. I like that they have demo areas to try out vacuums and sewing machines. They also teach seeing classes. I just opened a little mean green machine bissell wet vac and it leaked. Called bissell and they listed Branum as Augusta local service center. As soon as I walked in I was immediately greeted by a friendly salesman. We accessed the problem and since I just opened the box 2 days ago I was covered under the 90 day warranty. That made me feel good in his beliefs putting trust in the customer. Quoted would take 3-4 days to look over problem. Can't wait to see the results. I like doing business here. read more

Wishing I could give zero stars. This is one craptacular shop. Rude, dishonest, an inefficient. They were awful ten years ago when I was looking for a vacuum, but I decided to give a second chance a few months ago: Dropped off my machine to be serviced and was told I'd be called in the next two days BEFORE they were to start working on it. When I called a week later (after hearing nothing) they said they were already working on it- when I asked why I wasn't phoned first (as promised), the manager back-peddled into what I can only assume is his natural state: a blubbering, thoughtless meat wad. Caught in his fib, I came in to collect my things. They gave me two pair of scissors that weren't mine and only part of my machine. Again, lies- assuring me that these were my materials (I think I'd know my own tools!) and that they had never been given my entire machine. WTF? It took 15 minutes of asking before the manager went to check. Lo and behold, the pieces that were "never" given to them just happened to be on their work table. No apologies, still charged me for my (poorly) sharpened scissors. Bunch of shenanigans and tomfoolery! read more

Fast forward from my review in Nov 2014 and you find the Mrs with a brand new Bernina 880! For my own pleasure a I recently purchased a Dyson V6 "stick broom" that I really enjoy. With the amount of wood floors in the house the V6 picks up everything. Have you tried to vacuum your wood or tile floors only to find that when the lights hits it just right, you can see the layer of dust still left on the floor? Well, not any more!! The V6 gets the particulate matter AND dusts the floor, as well. RJ, Robert, Kim, and Jennifer McClanahan will take great care of you downstairs, while Frank and David upstairs will keep your machines running in tip top shape. Here is little story about the boys upstairs. We took the Bernina 880 in because the Mrs. was having trouble with the auto threader and thread cutter. Long story short, Frank says that she needs to use Aurifil thread in her machine....turns out it is the same thread Bernina uses to calibrate their machines. Now, I know there are a lot of threads in the market place, however when she changed over to the Aurifil thread, problem solved. This is the type of customer service that exists at Branum's. Ever since Nick took over the ownership of the store, I have heard customers say that it is so much nicer and more pleasant to visit. If you had an experience that made you stop going there, give them a second chance and do yourself a favor and visit. They have loads of classes...I know because I have taken a lot of them. read more

There is no place like Branum's!! If you think all sewing/vacuum/quilting, etc... stores are the same, all you have to do is walk through the doors at Branum's! I have never seen such impeccable customer service by such a happy, eager-to-serve staff. The selection is amazing and they are THE go-to place for everything sewing, quilting, monograming, and beyond!! No one else in Augusta even comes close to the quality, value and service of Branum's. This is my favorite store in town. I bought my first sewing machine from them years ago. They taught me how to use it, and I have since made my own clothes and my kid's clothes. I upgraded machines and they gave me the full value of my first machine as a trade in! We bought our vacuum, steam cleaner, embroidery machine, and tons of classes from them. The people who work there are super helpful. I have come in before with a pattern that I didn't understand and someone sat with me for 30 minutes to decipher it. While I could go to another place to purchase the same things, I feel that the owner, Nick, stands by his products and delivers awesome customer support and products. read more

There are not enough words for me to describe my experience and the level of service that I received while at Branum's taoday that would come close to what they deserve. After my laptop died, I purchased a new one. I quickly learned that I would need the most recent software because of having Windows 8.1. I called my local Bernina dealer only to be given the run around about when I could expect them to have the software in stock to purchase. When I tried to explain that I needed it much sooner and would need to call another dealer first to see if they had it available before I requested one to be held for me, I was hung up on. I then called Branum's and without a doubt received the best customer service. They had the software, held it for me, and after school I drove from Lexington, SC to Augusta. I brought my new computer with me just to confirm that the software would work with what I purchased. Upon walking in everyone was EXTREMELY nice and welcoming. They installed the software for me before leaving and made sure it worked properly. I left feeling like it my Christmas! The new name is Augusta Sewing Center. Customer service is spotty based on what I heard from the local quilt guild. That matches my experience. Evidently the older lady who works/manages the store is a bit moody. I was not greeted AT ALL when I entered the store and said a chipper "Hello". I was never even asked if I need help. So after browsing the meager fabric selection with expensive prices for a while, I exited the store and vowed to never return. Don't waste your time here. So glad I discovered Branum's when I recently moved to the Augusta area. I believe someone told me they are under new management. All I can say, is their staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. I like to shop "local" whenever I can...rather than being just a number, or another face in the crowd. They serviced my Bernina, several months ago. If you are thinking of buying an embroidery machine here, think again! I chose Branum's because I was trying to keep business local and wanted the convenience of service when needed. The staff seemed knowledgeable and were very friendly until purchase was made. After your investment is made the game changes! You are promised 2 days of instruction at your place of business then when your machine is delivered that changes to 2 days at their place of business. That was exceptable until you realize you have pretty much wasted your time because they are too busy to give instructions on the machine you purchased and you are gently pushed off on another employee. I am very thankful to a good friend who had time to teach me about my machine. Unfortunately after 5 months my machine needs servicing! After 2 calls and an email I have had no response from Branum's! Fortunately my business has been very successful and I have many orders to complete. You would think they could at least have someone make a call or email you to at least acknowledge they have received your request! I sure hope I have better luck getting a response from Melco! read more
