MSI used to have a great reputation. I don't know what has happened. The standard excuse they give is that "violators" always complain, but I haven't had any violations. MSI ignores the fact that many of us in compliance are not happy with their service. When I contact them with a question, the responses are usually snarky and inaccurate. Our website is a mess. I know a new site was launched in March, but that is no excuse for having outdated incorrect information posted. Many tabs are still incomplete 3 months after the launch. I emailed my issues to a supervisor, and received a hasty rude response that had not been researched. This has been my typical experience with MSI. She sent me several quick apology emails only after a board member had pointed out her errors. MSI makes it very difficult to contact the board, to hide their incompetence. It appears that they have been sending out massive violation letters to make it appear that they are busy. In reality, we have covenants that have not been enforced in years and now they are unenforceable for many homes. I complained that we had community beds full of weeds next to beautifully landscaped homes and this was the response, " If all owners were conscientious about their home/lawn, it would make the volunteer Board job an easier one." Honestly, the Board job would be easier if MSI were more conscientious about doing their job in a polite, professional, competent manner. From my point of view, the only thing they are good at, is creating drama in our neighborhood. The only thing I hate more than rude incompetence, is having to pay a lot of money for it. read more

I tried explaining to our community manager Kelli Chavez for the last two weeks that I had a fine erroneously added to my account and explained several times that it was there and how it got there. I asked several times to get it removed so I could pay my HOA dues and not accrue a late fee, but she must not have the comprehension skills to figure out what I meant. I also had to email her three days in a row before she even responded to me. A community manager that is not for the community and needs to get fired. read more

This HOA company is one of the worst I have ever had an experience with. Their is constant legal fights between board members, they suddenly required parking passes and then did nothing to actually enforce them so parking is an absolute nightmare, and then they suddenly wanted personal information about my pet. I would understand breed and/or weight since that is a common practice for condos and apartments, but they wanted name, color, a photo, and actual DNA; for what possible reason? Meanwhile the parking is still a mess, the board members fight so much they have to involve legal council, and they can't get a handle on the townhomes dumping trash in the condos designated dumpsters. The condos themselves are very nice and the area is beautiful, but the HOA is a mess. read more

This is the worst management group and unfortunately we are stuck with them through our HOA. Kelli Chavez is hardly ever in the office, and always has an excuse as to why she didn't answer. I have emailed her several times and gotten snarky replies telling me if I want to know what's going on I should come to an HOA meeting... well these meeting hardly ever run on time, not to mention I have 2 babies with a bedtime and a full time job so I can't really ever make these meetings. Anyone they hire for work does a half ass job or doesn't ever complete it. The community is always a mess even though we pay hundreds for it to be kept up. There is flooding in front of buildings causing structural damage and when it snows and these areas accumulate snow/water and it turns into an ice skating rink. I have contacted Kelli multiple times to see when this would be fixed and what the timeline would be and she never has any answers. I actually got to speak with her on the phone for the first time instead of being sent to voicemail, being told she isn't in or that I need to email... when I spoke with her she was rude and talked over me multiple times hardly letting me get a sentence in. I will suggest this company to no one as they can't seem to hire someone who cares about our community. read more

Beau Smith is fairly new to our community, (so are we!), but he jumped right in and is great at what he does. I know he's busy, but any time I have sent him an email, he actually responds promptly and takes care of the matter. He's really good about keeping us in the loop. Overall I'd recommend Beau. The worst management company I have ever dealt with. Nasty, rude and incompetent. I live in Castle Valley in Castle Pines, CO. This is the only management company that treats owners like we work for the management company. Anytime you call with an issue they give you attitude and act like we will get around to it if we feel like it. The grass is awful. Brown and ugly. I complained and nothing got done. Worst HOA provider I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. This company makes a habit of charging arbitrary fees that homeowners never agree to without ever informing the homeowner. They then follow this up with late fees which the homeowner isn't aware of because they send a check in for their monthly fees. If I can get any other provider to manage our HOA I will absolutely take no time at all in switching from this sleazy con man organization. read more

Very positive experiences with MSI and Ray who runs maintenance at the Ridge at Bromley Lane in particular. Raven Whitaker, Community Manager for MSI in Boulder, Colorado deserves 0/5 stars, but that score was not an option. Simply put, Raven cannot be bothered to pick up her phone, respond to text messages, or otherwise assist those requesting her assistance. Her voicemail box is full so leaving a message is not an option. There is a severe bat bug infestation in the condominium where I currently reside (W.B. Condominium Association) which has gone untreated for over a month. To the best of my knowledge, MSI has taken zero action to rectify the problem, which has only gotten worse. If you're searching for a new management company, do yourself and your residents a favor and look elsewhere--This company and its' employees appear to have better things to do than help you. read more

We have dealt with MSI for years and in the past they did a good job managing Manor Homes in Cherry Creek. The last 3 years have been a nightmare. Their response time is horrible, we have to push them to get anything done, projects are taking months and even years to get done. I would not recommend them at all. read more

She is abrasive, rude, and often will include "quips" in her responses that are totally unnecessary and disrespectful. They aren't getting any better. There is no communication about events happening to our buildings related to maintenance. I am currently stuck inside my house due to it being painted without warning. This company has all our contact information, and they refuse to use it. We paid for a community website for both our subassoication and master, neither have any bit of useful information on it. We can't even submit work orders through the website that we paid for. The only communication we can utilize is email, and they take several days to respond to that. It's a joke! read more

MSI, LLC in Westminster is very unprofessional. They hired a painting crew to paint our units and gave them permission to use the residents spigots to high power wash in the prepping process. This is an unethical practice considering the residents pay for their own water. It is unlawful for anyone other than the residence of a unit or home to use others water. I can't go to my neighbors house to plug in my hose and water my grass without being held accountable. Anyway, in the process of stealing my water, they used my faucet to spray mine and any attached units to mine. My spigot wasn't strong enough to hold up a high powered machine and the pipe ended up busting causing a flood in my unit and my neighbors unit. They had a plumber come in and tear apart my walls on top of setting up high powered drying machines on my electricity and on my dime again. MSI won't pay for the damages and want my insurance to pay for the damages they caused. If they do pay for it, they don't want to be responsible for the upgrades and will only pay for the original construction or base amount. Not to mention, their customer service is terrible. They can't or are refusing to answer questions. Yes, I'm frustrated because I'm sitting in a disaster they caused. It's been three weeks now and they don't want to take responsibility. I ask questions and their response is "send me your insurance information" to everything. Highly unethical and unprofessional. read more

As a Director and Treasurer of a new HOA in Erie, CO, working with MSI was a nightmare. We inherited them from the developer and, in just 6 months, were assigned 3 different community managers. MSI is just too big to deliver personalized service and, frankly, they do not care. They have a culture of concealing their actions from the Board of Directors, are skilled at evasion and lack any notion of teamplay. They blatantly denied requests for documents predating Board turnover to the owners. They are a grossly overpriced service. We fired them just 6 months after the owners took control of the No a rd. I had to post a star :(. I will always have time to discuss this company with anyone that is considering them! I am also willing to verify my address. First of all Our Community manager forwarded all the communication I have had with her to my primary client and that person does NOT reside in my community or any community managed by MSI. I guess because I copied her boss (thinking it would help ), just guessing but she forwarded all communication with me to who she thought might be my boss? Either that or she was seeking to jeopardize my livelihood. Either way it's illegal. Would you want your community manager to seek to upset your clients or drag you boss into property management issues? It is absolutely frowned on at MSI to contact a supervisor when you have questions that are not being answered. So no support to new property managers really leaves a community at risk. Our MSI manager wrote me an email stating she was having a hard time remaining neutral managing a community at WAR. I had no idea it was at war and moreover, if she can't be a professional it may be the wrong career for her. I have asked if I could help her create 2019 forms to be approved by her for sending out to the rest of the community and she said " I cannot have community members making their own forms!!! It was only an offer to help. For now, I will need to request documents like a nomination form (asked for this 14 days ago) from board members to try to get from her because she will not send them directly to me. Our property manager states that legal council reviews her actions? This statement confuses me the most. If anyone is considering MSI, I would be happy to accept calls, email and even meet with more information. I am not a Property Manager and I do NOT promote one. I just do not want anyone else in my shoes. I'll provide an updated review as well as respond to you directly. John states "Please confirm the name of your community so we can confirm you are actually a client of MSI."John, I am not sure why someone who wasn't a client would produce a lengthy, detailed review like the one I submitted in February 2019, so I DO confirm my residence and experience with MSI is real and valid! I am providing my review in an effort to help YOU improve your organization as opposed to you attempting deny, defend, and slant my experience/review toward invalid. Next, John explains that "any an all decisions regarding repairs, both routine or major, are made directly by your board of directors in the case of this community who are hesitant to do any work." Our property manager, lacked skills to complete simple requests in a timely manner. I have attended our monthly board meetings for over a decade and I have witnessed the Board directing the manager over-and-over to complete repairs and updates. Our manager lacked skills and organization to complete the multitude of tasks a community of our size and condition required. I have witnessed on many occasions the Board directing our manager to take action and then witnessed the Board following up the next month and the property manager would have NOTHING to report, because he appeared to take no action. This would go on for many months. He did not seem capable of juggling many accounts, contractors, and issues while also enforcing the covenants and bylaws with finesse and respect. You are correct that the Board does make all the decisions regarding repairs, but the property manager is the one who is charged with the responsibility of the actual follow through--to complete the tasks. It was almost like being marooned on a desert island with only our manager--we were totally dependent on his skill-set and when it was clear the skills and ability just weren't there, we were stuck with more years of our delayed maintenance backlog getting longer every month that slowly ticked by. John, the Board isn't hesitant to do any work, the Board is in a fiduciary role and therefore needs to spend the community funds wisely. Do not mistake calculated and thoughtful spending with a hesitance. Finally, speaking of Board direction, it is interesting to note that our community manager took it upon himself, without Board direction, to open an insurance claim on our community insurance which will have ramifications for our insurance coverage and economic standing now and into the future. I am surprised by your comment that "I am the person who meets with boards to discuss our services, and indeed we can provide baseline photos for a community, but we do have a fee for that extra service. If it did not occur at your association, your board opted not to go forward with that service". When the Board inquired about the photo benchmarking at a monthly meeting (several meetings actually), it sure seemed like they had thought they had purchased this service and that this service was apart of the MSI contract. At no time in any of the meetings was it discussed that this would cost extra and would we want to purchase and your manager didn't offer the service either. Nor did the Board or manager ever indicate knowledge of the fact that this is extra. The Board demonstrated that they felt this service was a part of the initial contract with MSI throughout all of their verbal communications at meetings. Seems like a good 'ole "bait-and-switch" to me. Finally, it is also suspiciously noticeable that all the positive reviews for MSI occur on or around the same days and mention 1 or 2 property managers repeatedly. It smells of something to me--what are the chances that these individuals who have posted these high 5 star reviews would all post on the same day and about, generally speaking, the same managers? Now that our community has moved on to a new company it is a whole new world. Our new manager takes initiative, balances all of the tasks, knows our covenants and by-laws by heart and is well-versed in state HOA law as well. Regular, weekly walk throughs (actually walking around, not in the car) have begun in order to clean up the maintenance and violation heap MSI left us with. Our manager is personable with homeowners, responds to emails well, and balances the competing demands of the Board, homeowners and the covenants and by-laws. Follow up with contractors is standard practice as well as being on site regularly to ensure reasonable work by those contractors. We are getting much more attention than when we worked with MSI and thankfully we are moving forward with our community improving every week. I again offer a recommendation against working with MSI despite their several recent positive reviews that are suspicious. read more

Update; MSI had an approved vendor for heating and plumbing work in my building, PipeWorx". Myself, and other owners gave the "approved" vendor deposits to perform heat pump replacement in our units. PipeWorx never performed the work and took our money, over $20k in total. MSI claims NO RESPONSIBILITY in the matter. When pressed for Walter/PipeWorx's COI for insurance to perform work in the building, MSI can't seem to find it. This seems sloppy since they SHOULD have all the paperwork on file and in their records. read more

They gave us the wrong pool key, from a long stretch. I had to drive all the way out there for them to now be closed all of Memorial Day weekend. I'm beyond irritated. This company is horrible. They have raised our fees 3 times in less than a year, stating it was for our rec center when we don't have one. They also state that it is for our luxury neighbor hood, which it is far from that and for all the landscaping services etc. When the grass doesn't look very good, the sprinklers shoot half way across the streets on the main roads, the snow removal, if it even gets done isn't complete, and the entrance is re-done several times for no reason, and for months has looked like a construction project. What a mistake to ever be involved on a board to begin with, but MSI made it even more aggravating. Managers who don't even get out of the car on their weekly "walk thru", key word, walk. In 2016, our 59 home HOA decided to find a new property manager. I lead the due diligence effort and interviewed multiple property managers. After meeting with Trina Hann, I was convinced that MSI was the property manager for us. Cristina Madrigal was eventually assigned to be our property manager. Cristina has done an outstanding job managing our HOA and I highly recommend her for this role. A few of her attributes include her being personable, professional, tenacious and very solution-oriented. You won't be disappointed in her performance. read more

I was a resident in the Stapleton Neighborhood of Denver from 2005 to 2011, living in Stapleton Filing 9. At first, as a first-time home-buyer, I was warned that this is an HOA property. I didn't know why this was such a big deal to some, but I found out quickly. Management Specialists energize the negative stereotypes so rampant in society about HOAs. I closed on my newly constructed house in July of 2005. I did not receive any contact from MSI until April 2006. That initial contact, nearly one year after I moved in, was a "past due" notice and threat to take action if I didn't pay my bill. In each of the six years I was at that house, there was always a problem with their accounting (the person's name in accounting was Stacey W.). Every time they accused me of not having paid, I sent them proof in the form of a scanned check from my bank they cashed. The only positive is how they seemed to acknowledge their mistakes. Note the plurality there. Fed up with the accounting Gong Show, I contacted Todd Fackler, CEO of MSI. I received a letter from him saying that they will put a system in place to ensure the accounting would be fixed. By now, you can probably gather they didn't fix things. The accounting headaches wee not limited to individual dues. Our HOA dues included water, sewer and trash, which included the water that irrigated our community courtyard. About the third or fourth year, they discovered an error in their accounting with Denver Water. In short, somebody put a decimal point in the wrong place, and of course we had to pay for three years of accounting errors. Why MSI thought Denver Water would charge so much for one neighborhood and so little for ours and not catch this is unknown. What was known was that us residents were out hundreds of dollars. During my six-year sentence with MSI, there were three, maybe four, contacts in our filing. A significant turnover, which tells me things probably aren't rosy on their end. The best news my wife and I got from MSI was the letter confirming our account was closed in 2011 when we moved out. read more

This HOA is a joke!! Either they are racists, or there is some serious favoritism going on here! I have had 102 violations against my neighbor, a renter! For nine months absolutely nothing was done! Blocking my garage month after month! Blocking my fire lane month after month! For NINE months! Nothing has been done! Finally the tenant moved, with no help from the slime balls that run this organization! The only recourse I have is to take legal action. I have filed a claim against the board and the Hoa. I will take legal action against the owner of that property. This is my home and no one has the right to violate my space at anytime! I have to make sure this never happens to me again! MSI has been utterly useless over the past several years in the subdivision where I happened to live. They do not respond to any requests from homeowners, phone calls, emails, voice mails, yet threaten to place a lien on your house if you are "behind on payment" even though they failed to process your payment. They threaten you if a small patch of you grass is wilting in July-August in Colorado during epic heat and drought. Basically, you, as a customer, is always guilty until you prove that you are not. And proving it is not easy because this company never wants to communicate to their customers! Their account receivable system is a joke, they have no clue what's going on, but are quick to send out the warning letter instead of looking at their own crappy book keeping practices. Their people have no clue about customer service, very rude on the phone. Try calling Jena King for example. I have to go through "pleasure" of talking to MSI at least once a year because they lose my payments. Stay away from MSI HOA. read more

These crooks were our new property management company when our board was first created. The developer had chosen them. It was quite apparent where their loyalties were when we asked them to notify the community via the newsletter (that they were contractually bound to create for us) that our developer sign-off date was looming in a couple weeks. As the new HOA president I wanted to be sure that all problems had been addressed before the developer signed off the project and freed himself of all responsibility. MSI wouldn't put it in our newsletter. I ended up going door to door to tell my neighbors. Then I found out that they had been paying a modem fee to Qwest for 6 months and we didn't even have a modem installed in our business center. When I asked to see the bills they refused to show them to me much less pay us back for their blatant failure. After several more examples of this sort of unethical behavior we fired them. They refused to give us any of our documents. I field a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they didn't reply till after the 30 days they were given to reply. All they wrote in their reply was that they had acted in Good Faith in all their dealings. The BBB closed the case! I lost 100% faith in the BBB by that action because I had been diligent in trying to get the information MSI was withholding and they were given many, many chances to produce the documentation before we fired them. If you need a property management company, look further because MSI will make your life miserable. read more
