Lucky for me…read moreLove Park had the Foolish Waffles Truck because I had one of the best meals I've had in a while. There were five others waiting for their orders, and I gazed at the menu. I've always heard of chicken and waffles, but have never tried it. This was my choice. I chose wisely. The boneless fried chicken breast was light and delicate and not greasy. The slaw was not too dry or runny with sauce. The candied jalapeño peppers should have been more plentiful on top, but I liked the slices I got. The waffle, although not crunchy or crispy, and actually a little mushed, had outstanding flavor and surprisingly complemented the chicken and slaw. I was blown away how good it was and a decent sized portion. They have others like an Italian, and a Vietnamese version of waffles with stuff. Additionally, that have the sweet waffles with fruit toppings. This was a definite 5-star lunch today! $12 for the fried chicken and waffles. I posted a picture of it and the menu with the prices of the day.

They put plenty of chicken on the waffle and the waffle and chili honey were very tasty. I do wish I added syrup, because the honey had evaporated into the waffle by the time I walked back to eat. I did deduct a star because we waited over twenty minutes for our food to cook. This is problematic when on a lunch break from work. I wish there was a way to call in the order beforehand and pick it up. They do take credit cards, with a $0.50 fee. I would def try it again, but would be prepared for the long wait.

Upon arrival, I learned that the Patchwork Restaurant & Bar is where the happy hour specials, dinner options, and in the morning, breakfast takes place. I enjoyed the food and service during my visit for breakfast before heading back to the airport the next day. The Patchwork Philly has a restaurant, a bar, and a market. The restaurant includes breakfast, brunch, dinner, bar-cocktail, happy hour, and dessert. The happy hour menu is only valid at the bar. Reservations can be made on OpenTable. Breakfast is served until 10:30 AM. They serve omelettes (Denver, Egg White, and Patchwork omelets), sweets (yoghurt parfait, ricotta pancakes, and steelcut oatmeal), savory dishes (Italian-inspired breakfast plate, eggs benedio, croissant sandwich), drinks, sides, and the breakfast buffet with chef's daily selections including coffee and tea. The buffet was great! It included fruits (dried and fresh), breads, meats, eggs, and so much more. And even better, for those with Hyatt Globalist status, you get a free breakfast at Patchwork Philly! You can learn more about Patchwork Philly at https://patchworkphilly.com including menus, reservations, events & private dining, information about the chef, a photo gallery, and social media links. They are open for breakfast on weekdays from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Brunch is on the weekends from 7 AM to 12 Noon. Dinner is Sunday through Thursday from 5 PM to 9 PM and Friday and Saturday from 5 PM to 10 PM. The bar is open on Sunday through Thursday from 4 PM to 9 PM and Friday and Saturday from 4 PM to 11 PM. Happy hour is weekdays from 4 PM to 6 PM and includes discounted dishes from parmesan fries, arancini, shrimp cocktail, and a burger and beer vibe combo. Bar snacks include olives, spiced nuts, popcorn duo, and onion dip. I'd assume there are happy hour drink specials, too. The quick service and tasty food made Patchwork Philly a great food option at the Hyatt Centric, and if I stay there again, I'll jump at eating again at Patchwork Philly!

Much better and safer places in walking distance with friendlier service and better food! - when asked about vegan options, the restaurant said they didn't know and asked me to look at the options and they'd verify. It's weird to not have any dietary-friendly options ready, and to not be willing to look into it - asked for a side of PB and only after calling them, they said they had none left (?) and did not offer a replacement - coffee tasted bitter and the beans were over roasted. I also ordered a decaf since I can't have caffeine, and needed to take allergy medication because I realized halfway through that it had caffeine. Oats were cooked (which was great), but was missing the promised toppings from the menu. An iced latte + oats = $33. I also chatted with the manager after this and she said raisins are seasonal (not true lol) so they could remove toppings without telling us, and that it is standard to not receive assistance about what items fit dietary restrictions and to just look at a menu (not true).

They also fill your classes with water before you sit which was a very nice touch on a hot day. Serving sizes are deceptively large - the omelets/fritata were absolutely stuffed. They smoke their salmon in house which was nice little fact to learn. They are also BYOB so you can bring in a wine/champagne if you want a little breakfast cocktail. They have a mocktail of the day (mine was a hibiscus spritz) if you just wanna spice it up. Only downside was that the ac was broken the day but there wasn't much the restaurant could do about that (obviously) so it's not affecting my rating. Just note it can get stuffy on a hot day if it's down.

I had the crab frittata, and it was spot-on, while the blueberry pancakes were soft, full of flavor, and came out piping hot. The sugary bacon on the side might've been the highlight though--sweet, salty, and impossible to stop eating. Service was friendly and fast without feeling rushed. Would absolutely recommend for a relaxed breakfast or brunch. And no, I didn't take pictures--sorry, I'm one of those people who actually eats their food while it's still warm

Our server Rachel was lovely and gave us a rundown of their specials and the menu's top hits. Our drink selections ranged from as boring as a Diet Coke to as fun as a seasonal lemonade. We were all content with our choices, though we puttered around making suggestions from their large drink menu. I typically go for a savory breakfast, but the stuffed brioche French toast was speaking to me. I can never turn down banana! The rest of our table ordered avocado toast (x2) and fried eggs with bacon. Everyone was really happy with their choices and an added bonus was that our food came out quickly. I insisted everyone at our table try a bite of my massive stuffed brioche French toast and the consensus was that it was ridiculously good. Though this spot is tiny, it is not to be missed.

Luckily, we found street parking right next to the restaurant, which was a nice surprise. When we arrived, the wait for a table of three was about 45 minutes. That's somewhat expected for a popular brunch spot on a weekend. Once seated, the service was prompt. Our waiter stopped by quickly with waters and took good care of us throughout the meal. I ordered the House Angus Burger with sweet potato fries. It was solid, flavorful, and definitely filling. My friend got the Bella Vista Omelet with home fries, and we both agreed that while the food was good, it felt like standard brunch fare rather than anything particularly memorable. Based on the long wait and the hype surrounding Sabrina's, I think we were expecting the food to really stand out. In my opinion, the dishes we tried were comparable to what you'd find at a quality chain brunch spot like First Watch. That's not necessarily a bad thing, the food was satisfying, but it didn't quite justify the lengthy wait. That said, the menu has plenty of more unique and creative options that we didn't try. I'd be open to coming back and ordering one of those specialty dishes next time. Overall, I left satisfied with the meal and service.
