Very good, and obviously incredibly popular (stayed in this hotel more times than I care to remember and this is the first time I've been able to secure a table here...perhaps the proximity of Christmas worked this time?) Anyway, excellent Indian cooking....presented to a high standard. Dishes from all over the Indian continent, from the North to Kerala - so I guess, if you want to explore the tastes of a continent it's a great venue. The tandoor paneer (for me) was the highlight of the meal, juicy, tasty and absolutely perfect. Well-executed, higher-end Indian cuisine at the Hilton Airport Terminal 5 of LHR (thanks to Joshua J. for tipping me off to the place!). The menu is extensive - and can be somewhat overwhelming to peruse and choose. However, the restaurant wisely offers a couple of different tasting menus of chef's selections, and my colleagues and I opted for this choice (hey, it was a long day of driving to get to LHR ... in a pelting rain to boot, what the Brits would call "bracing" weather). We started off with an amuse-bouche of an Indian tomato soup, followed by a variety of different pappadums and chutneys. To accommodate all tastes, we agreed on "medium hot" for the dishes - which at first, I thought was rather mild, but this was deceptive for the heat built up satisfactorily with each bite. For appetizers, we each received a flight of 7 different appetizers, comprising of fish, vegetables, chicken, beef, and shrimp (the waitress explained each one, but I'll admit to being at a loss to recall what they were). Some were terrific; some were merely okay. This was followed by about 5 different curries, no doubt representing different regions and styles -- comprised of lamb, chicken, prawns, and vegetable sides, accompanied by two types of basmati rice and a couple of kinds of naan. The best to me was the lamb, which had a great flavor and tenderness, but each of the curries had a nice distinct flavor profile. Finally, after stuffing ourselves insensibly, we were each rewarded with a flight of 3 desserts: a vanilla ice cream, a mini-creme brulee flavored with cardamom, and a green Indian dessert of which I can't remember the name, but it was outstanding! Coffee afterwards and I also have to say that it was a great brew (I'm guessing Malabar). The restaurant itself is quiet with a restrained decor to showcase the food, excepting the eye-catching wooden sculpture residing in the middle (literally, an elephant in the room - and no-one really talked about it ... ). There's also a Chef's table looking right into the kitchen and prep area; however, general dining room seating also has a good view of the chefs in action. Wait-service was excellent, cordial, and considerate, and very knowledgeable and helpful regarding the menu offerings. Well worth a visit if residing at any of the nearby airport hotels. read more

It was my first time trying Indian food. I did have some Caribbean curry before, but nothing from the East Indian variety. The over experience was very pleasant. I had some garlic and herbs nan and as a New Yorker, garlic and herb and a pizza like dough sounds good to me. I had a broccoli soup with had a strong presence of curry but not off putting. I had a lamb dish and I'm not sure it was curry tasted more like a stew. I had a side of potato and spinach. It did had have a strong curry flavor. Either way nothing was too spicy. I did end off with a cappuccino and Indian pistachio ice cream. It wasn't sweet and had great flavor. Will be back on one of my London trips.... read more

We had the very lucky experience of sitting right up at the Chef's Table on a weeknight here before catching our plane back to the States the next morning. We chose to do the 5 course tasting menu - alerting the kitchen that I don't eat pork or beef - and they were happy to work with me. The wonderful herbal array of dishes and chutneys was delicious. Like a true journey to India! And we've been to india! So I'd say this was absolutely a fine dining, high end version of the foods you will find in India. The service was great - they didn't serve hard liquor and initially had to tell me no when I orders a martini. But the manager quickly stepped in the remedy the problem by going to the bar upstairs to get the drink for me. Very very classy service. read more

The kitchen menu is a ton of food. The appetizer plate alone could feed you for the night though I thought it was better than the main of chicken tikka, lamb, and two other dishes. The food was well prepared but I didnt think either of the courses had a huge amount of flavor. The service was good and it was certainly solid but bot spectacular read more

Excellent. Some of the best, high end Indian I have ever had, Superb service even while dining by myself. I had a scallop and vegetable starter that was great followed by some ostrich curry which was super tender like good steak. Finished with a bowl of homemade tangerine ice cream. Fantastic meal. I've visited several times while staying at the Hilton. Tonight's meal was ~ Beef Tikka Laal Aur Kaala Mirich Masala ~ and it was fantastic. I was worried it would be too hot given is was marked fiery hot - but it was very flavorful and with the addition of raita - very tasty. If you like beef and a bit of spice - definitely try this dish. Also - the lemon pickle with Papads is a great start to a wonderful meal experience. As long as I am traveling through Heathrow - I will be staying at the Hilton and dining with Mr Todiwala. To Mr. T: I would like to try the spice paste from this dish on my smoked brisket or even beef ribs - I think the combination of a light smoke with the depth of spice would be excellent. If you ever decide to sell this spice paste - I am first in line! read more

I was deliberating between the two restaurants at the Hilton Heathrow & decided that Indian food in the UK is far superior than what we have in the US. I was very pleased with this place but it is very pretentious so if that's not your thing, be aware. The servers are soft-spoken & kind. They'll place your napkin on your lap for you! We started off with a red chilli cocktail which was super tasty. The sampler platter for appetizer was really a taste explosion of india - it was 7-8 tiny bites of street foods you'd find in indian from different types of vada, uttapam, samosa, dhokla to paneer tikka and vegetable pakora. Of course, I ordered my standard butter chicken- this was served as a single chicken breast in a sea of the richest, creamiest sauce. The chicken breast is stuffed with some spices and it's really good - not sure what it is but amazing! Two people could've easily shared this. My colleague had a parsi style chicken curry that looked equally delectable - I had a cold so refrained from trying any. This place was pretty pricey but considering that it was inside of an airport Hilton, I don't think it's a shocker. I would definitely come back here on future trips. read more

Firstly its worth noting that it's recommended you have a booking... Even if you are staying at the hotel, and it's mid week, I don't believe they appreciate "walk-ins". After a 30 minute wait in the bar next door, we were shown to our table in a half empty restaurant. Fresh, light colored decor helps with the modern feel and ambiance of the place. The food was AMAZING !!! Wide selection of naan breads and the tikka tasting platter was divine. Relatively expensive which is to be expected in a hotel. Has a 5 star potential, but will award for 4 based on price and first impression from staff. read more

Absolutely loved the Tikka plate here. Wonderful favors and a diverse selection. Garlic naan was on the Chewy side...I have had much better. Nice atmosphere and good waitstaff that was not intrusive. The most pretentious Indian'ish food I've ever had. Started good with a soup that was served in a tea cup, which was flavourful. The starters were mediocre at best, salmon in particular, which was dry and tasteless. The main courses were extremely underwhelming and bland, all tasted as if they had been cooked in the same pot. Indian naan and rice were clumpy as if they had been microwaved. The service is hurried and rushed. The food takes unreasonably long to arrive, and there's nothing special about the interiors. Did not expect this at all given good reviews and an undeservedly high rate. I would not recommend this restaurant! read more

Oh my! Such a wonderfully surprising treat after an extraordinarily hectic day. My family and I arrived Heathrow T5 Hilton at 22h15 with very tired and hungry children. Kitchen scheduled to close at 22h30. Lovely hostess arranged for a table even though we didn't have a booking. Her delightful demeanor was matched by our server, Mark, who helped us choose just the right meal - chicken tikka, tikka masala, jasmine rice, and naan. At his suggestion, we ordered crime brûlée for dessert. Divine! Saffron crime brûlée. Who knew such heavenly taste existed! In addition to that delightful treat, he remembered that we were celebrating the birthdays of my daughter and husband and delivered a wonderful slice of chocolate cake complete with candle and song. After traveling for 3 weeks, this meal was wonderful. I hope we have the pleasure of dining here again in the near future! read more

I've now been back to Mr. Todi's three times since my first visit. The dish I enjoyed the first time was Lamb Xacutti, and I've tried several of the appetizers and sides. I've not yet found anything I didn't really enjoy. The tandoori scallops were fantastic. They also offer a rose of Tempranillo grapes (I know, pink wine), but it works so well with the spices of the food. I'm looking forward to my next visit... Next week! read more

Wow wow wow wow wow. That's for each of the five stars. We ate Indian food a few times while in the UK, and this is hands down the best we've tried. They're extremely proud of their authentic dishes and their pride is well deserved. Had a chicken tikka special as well as a lamb dish that started with a "D" and had a looooong description. They were both incredible and delicious. I rarely finish my meal but I ate every morsel. I am not sure you can pick a bad dish here. Great service as well, very attentive. Will be back when I come through London again. read more
