Mr. Sun is my favourite bubble tea place around Finch, a neighbourhood where there are waaay too many bubble tea shops. Handmade tapioca pearls are a chewy delight that bounces with flavour, making every sip enjoyable. And on weekends, they have a special tapioca flavour - check their instagram! My usual go-to is pineapple green tea with basil seeds. Service is a bit slow, but each drink is made with care. The staff give good recommendations. And with plenty of tables/seats, it's the ideal spot for a laid-back chat.

Mango slush

I ordered the mango slush (without dairy because I'm lactose sensitive). This is actually one of the top bbt spots I've tried in the city. They have different flavours of tapioca which is what they specialize in I really enjoyed the mango and brown sugar flavours. 4 star instead of 5 because my friend got the same drink and hers did not taste as good so this speaks to the lack of quality consistency. Also, service was okay, it's really a hit or miss here.

Rainbow tapioca roasted milk tea

I've found my new fav bbt place! I was so excited to try Mr. Sun after some friends hyped this place up. Mr. Sun has its origins in Taiwan since 1999. I ordered the rainbow tapioca roasted milk tea. The price was on par with other popular bbt places. Both the tea and tapioca were of superb quality, but the tapioca was especially delicious. All of the tapiocas at Mr. Sun are handmade and made fresh on site. According to their website, the tapioca formula they use has less chemical additives and 30% less fat compared to a traditional formula. The rainbow tapioca milk tea consists of three flavours, ranked from most flavorful to least: strawberry, brown sugar and mango. At first bite, I had a brown sugar taste explosion in my mouth, I think it melted in to the tea a bit, but afterwards I had the fresh flavour of strawberry. The mango tapioca is a lot more subtle with the tea, but you can still taste it if you chew them individually. The strawberry was by far the most flavourful - I think I even tasted a strawberry seed or two in some! The flavoured tapiocas uniquely complemented the tea, and did not overpower the tea flavour at all. I would say that 25% sugar was just sweet enough because the tapioca is slightly sweet. I usually don't like tapioca in my tea (I'm a pudding gal), but in this case I throughly enjoyed sipping my tea and chewing my flavoured tapioca that had the just the right amount of chewiness. Next time I would just get the strawberry tapioca because it was my fav! Definitely would return again! :)

Great bubble tea: good quality & some interesting options. Longan red date milk tea is served hot in an opaque cup. It's very hot. It has no caffeine so you can have it at any time of the day. It's pretty tasty - the milk adds a new dimension of taste to what would be a usual longan red date drink. Peach green tea with mango tapioca: tea had a good peach taste with real peach bits. Tapioca was fantastic - palpable mango taste & silky smooth (chewy, with the perfect texture, neither over nor under done). Royal Earl Milk Tea with lactose free milk & 25% sugar was quite sweet (the pearls added sweetness). Mango pearls were good as above & the Earl Grey flavour was good too.

a cup of milkshake and a drink on a table

Having their location along Yonge Street makes it really challenging as there's many bubble tea shops along the street. My friend and I was venturing down the street after dinner and was overwhelmed by the amount of options. We finally decided to try something we've never tried before and spotted Mr. Sun tucked away in the base of a building that's not as obvious as the other tea shops along the street. When I suggested this teashop, I can hear some uncertainty in the tone of my friend's voice as she never heard of this place and it seems hidden. When we got to the shop, there's a few other people waiting for their order. We noticed they offer monthly specials, this month, it's the Oolong milk tea for a large size priced at $4.50. We also saw a tapioca making machine behind a glass next to their order counter. At the counter, they had 6 or 7 tapioca options available which they make in house. Their pricing seems to be less expensive than their competition who also offers unique tapioca flavours that's also made in house. The design of their shop is very nice also! They have a wall with a light up sign of their logo with a wall of lightbulb display as well as a nice pillar that's insta-worthy! Their seating area is also very nice, comfortable and spaced out. On top of each table, there's a moustache logo too. I ended up ordering their special while my friend ordered a peach tea with their rainbow tapioca. My friend is pretty particular about her bubble teas and she really enjoyed the tea as well as the tapioca! My oolong milk tea was very delicious also, but for next time, I may ask for less milk and more tea as I prefer a stronger tea taste. While we were enjoying our tea, there's constantly people walking in for bubble tea as well as people picking up deliveries too! This is a nice spot and we will definitely be back! We saw an image of a heineken bubble tea which appears to be a Taiwan exclusive. We'd be very interested if they start serving this drink locally in Toronto!

Blackberry milk tea with tapioca and peach green tea with coconut jelly

I came here with my friend since she wanted something to drink. I suggested this place because I heard it's really good. We both tried it out after our well-spent day in Toronto before going back home to Mississauga. It was not that busy when we came in. The interior is beautiful especially the light up sign with light bulb hanging around it! They have complimentary wifi and washroom which that was a bonus to coming here! I order peach green tea with coconut jelly while my friend got blackberry milk tea with tapioca. We loved our drinks. We were so happy when we left. It was really delicious and refreshing. I would definitely come back with friends to hang out longer and drink boba after a long day!

Large - it's really really a loooooot of bubble tea

I had just learned about Mr. Sun from fellow Yelpers a few days ago, I was sold and ready to make a trip over to Pmall area to try out this alcohol free Heineken Green Tea creation. This new location is quite nice, the place is beautifully setup, great spot to sit and chat. Love the interior decor and setup. Fairly spacious when compared to other bubble tea shops in the area. Now about the tea, I tried the milk tea with tapioca. Since the tapioca is handmade, I wanted to compare this to my fav from OneZo. The tapioca is quite chewy, a bit too chewy for me but you might prefer it that way. You can definitely taste the flavors in the tapioca thou. Will go back to try that Heineken green tea next time.

Osmanthus oolong tea latte with rainbow tapioca

Another place with homemade tapioca?! This location was a bit hidden but very spacious on the inside with quite a few tables and some card games available. Their menu has a lot of interesting teas that not every other bubble tea shop carry. They have a fresh or powdered milk option for their drinks! I ordered the osmanthus oolong tea latte and added their rainbow tapioca (mango, strawberry, black sugar). The special tapioca of the day was red bean. The tea itself was very very light. I could barely taste the osmanthus or oolong flavours. It just had a slight subtle oolong aftertaste. For the tapioca, the mango one stood out among the other two mostly. But I do like the consistency and texture and chewiness of this tapioca (chewier than the mushy ones from OneZo). If I am in the area and I crave their tapioca, I would come back and try their other teas. Hopefully this weak oolong tea was a one-off thing.

Tried this new bubble tea place near the Yonge and Finch area and had a decent experience. Tried their #1 drink which was the Rainbow tapioca oolong tea which was alright but nothing special. The place looked clean and they even had little board games for you and your friends to play if you are into that kinda thing. Luckily for us we came on their last day promotion of buying a drink and getting the second one for free. Maybe we'll swing back one of these days to try other drinks.

Uji matcha green tea latte with brown sugar tapioca!

LOVE the homemade tapioca here! I'm not usually the biggest tapioca fan, but I will make an exception and order it here because it is that good. I've come here twice and so far tried the roasted milk tea, and the matcha milk tea - both with brown sugar tapioca. Amazing stuff. The tapioca has the perfect consistency and I love that it's homemade. They have other flavours of tapioca (strawberry, rainbow, sesame, mango) that I'm excited to try the next time I come back. They also serve BEER BUBBLE TEA - I haven't tried it yet, but I believe the drink is them adding a splash of beer to any of their "fizzy" drinks. The owners here are super nice - they made one of my friend's drinks wrong by accident and didn't get annoyed when we politely asked them to remake it. The place is super nice and clean, and they also have card games and some board games available. I'm definitely a fan!

The Hulk
B L.

I think this might be my new favourite boba spot in Toronto! They have a pretty extensive drink menu, so you'll likely find something you like and they make their tapioca in-house! The location is a bit hidden in an older plaza, so might be easily missed. They have quite a bit of seating so it's a good place to go with friends. The decor inside is modern and they have a nice light bulb accent wall that's pretty instagram-worthy. I tried the "Hulk", a Uji matcha latte with a layer of cheese milk foam, with strawberry tapioca. The latte was super smooth and creamy and the cheese milk foam was dense and had a milky flavour (kind of like japanese milk candy). The highlight was def the tapioca -- it was really chewy like fresh mochi and made with real strawberries ! I think overall the matcha and strawberry flavours could have been stronger but still the best boba I've had in a long time! Can't wait to go back ⁣⁣

This location has really nice decors inside the whole store, which brings a nice atmosphere. Mr. Sun is one of my favourite bbt places in TO mainly because of their handmade tapiocas, with the texture that I like, soft. Their usual tapioca flavours are Mango, Strawberry, and Brown Sugar, my favourite. My go-to drink if I want something milky is Brown Sugar Tapioca Milk Tea, or if I want something refreshing is Rose Green Tea with Rainbow Tapioca (mix of Mango and Strawberry). The service is great also. My order was taken and served by a nice and friendly gentleman who I usually see at the Pacific Mall's location.

Small bubbletea shop that also serves pastries and Filipino meals…read more Their standout offering, of course, is the bubbletea. The tea is loose-leaf, so is elevated from the typical bubbletea. But it's the tapioca that really makes the drink shine with how fresh and bouncy they are. For a tea shop, this place also has really good food. Tried the scones and they were super buttery, very flavourful, and were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside like all great scones. We also got some Filipino meals - the lechon kawali and lumpia super crispy, the bangsilog had a good portion size for the price, and the halo-halo was refreshing. Place is mainly a takeout spot, but there are a couple of small tables to sit 4. Service is friendly. Tea offerings are extensive. Worth a drop-by.

Cookies: The matcha white chocolate cookie was freshly made. Quite soft and delicious. Reasonably sized cookie. Yema cake: It was my first time having the Yema cake so I was looking forward to try it. I got the ube flavour and a soft chiffon cake texture. It wasn't too sweet and was perfect for a nice small dessert. The staff were friendly and the service was good. It's too bad there's limited seating as it would be great to dine-in. I definitely want to come back to try out their drinks!
