I love subs, this place does it right…read more I am fine with all levels of subs but when I want a quality sub I come here. Solid menu variety, but the meat is the crown jewel here and the oil/red wine vinegar sauce they use makes the meat shine instead of overpowering it like other sub chain sauces. The sub feels fresh, from the bread to the cheese, and they don't skimp on the sauce. Great Heartland location close to lots of retail and other food shops. Ample parking and easy to spot. There's a good handful of tables inside for individual or pair seating, and service is pretty quick. I pre-ordered on a busy day and only needed to wait 10 to 15 minutes on a weekend evening. They do minor promos through their own loyalty program , but I find they offer better discounts on Uber/skip/etc.

I felt like they didn't hold back on veggies unlike Subway. The bread was definitely higher quality than a typical Subway too. The employees were pleasant and accommodating to my first visit and were happy to answer a few questions. Definitely 8.5/10 for higher quality food and service however the Giant sub was around $23 after tax so it isn't cheap. Glad I gave it a chance and will definitely come back soon.

I know a lot of people have reservations paying top dollar for just a sandwich, but I'd say the quality of ingredients and flavourful sauces is totally worth it. I always get the holy cow sandwich with vamp sauce, but will occasionally get the chicken sandwich with lunar sauce. I did try the lemonade they had once, but to be honest, it doesn't quite fit my palate. The lemonade has some sort of seasoning in it. If you've had lemonade from East Asian restaurants, you would kind of know what to expect. They also give you a discount card that you can show for an extra 15% off when you visit. If you're in the area looking for a quick bite, I'd give this place a shot.

So I began searching under breakfast category and this restaurant showed up. So I decided to give it a go.... MY BEST & MY WORST DECISION EVER. Best because.... that CHEESE pastizzi ($2 each + tax) gave me a taste of HEAVEN ON EARTH. IT WAS FLAKY on the outside and very soft and flavourful on the inside. I inhaled it in just under 3 minutes. Worst because...... I only bought 3pcs to go. We sat down at one of eight tables before I went up to the counter to place our order. The cashier began entering the order into the cash register beginning with the drinks, followed by the desert selections.... Big mistake! I should have asked my parents to look over the pastry displays and select what they wanted first, before ordering. Embarrassingly, after about 3 long minutes of them walking back & forth viewing each of the pastry displays, the cashier received our picks and then she was able to finalized the payment. Fresh desserts for a reasonable price. (btw, there is no special discount if you order large quantities of an item). The coffee brew was strong the way I like it, but way too strong for my parents. I had to ask our server to dilute it by adding 50% more hot water to their cups. Friendly service. No Wi-Fi. I will definitely come back to pick up other desserts and try their hot sandwiches.

I was a little surprised at its popularity as its location is in a plaza with plenty of other eateries and chains. I ordered their wrap that came with a choice of soup, salad or chips ($10.15). They also offered many pressed sandwiches and salads at similar prices. The grilled chicken wrap looked delicious with quite a variety of fillings: corn, tortilla chips, black beans, lettuce and monterrey jack cheese with chipotle dressing. The portion was huge and each fresh bite had a nice crunch. Chunks of chicken breast filled the cold wrap but would've tasted better warm. It was still good. The spicy Thai chicken soup was similar to Tim Horton's. I felt they should've used a soup bowl instead of the styrofoam cup for dine-in at the eatery. Both items tasted mildly sweet (wrap from the chipotle sauce) and weren't spicy at all.

I have fond memories of eating veal sandwiches. My dad use to get these long veal sandwiches from a…read morefood truck that would stop by his workplace years ago. He brought one home and I devoured it. The bun was soft, the veal was breaded and tender, the marinara sauce was fresh, and it had onions, peppers, and mushrooms that made it the best sandwich. He bought them for me late in my high school and all through my undergraduate years. I moved away. He retired. Veal sandwiches died. Coming back to the GTA, the best veal sandwich I have had is from California Sandwiches. This location is the closest one to my workplace. On Saturday, I had to go into the office and stopped by this location to grab a bite before getting down to work. This location is on Dixie, just north of the 401. You expect tired, hungry truckers around this area on a Saturday. Then, you have folks like me. I wanted a veal sandwich and was hungry. Parking in front of the eatery is limited. I got a spot out of the possible five available. There is also a back entrance where there is more parking. I walked in. There was a woman ahead of me ordering three sandwiches. I already knew what I wanted. This California Sandwiches looks dated from the outside, but is pretty decent inside. I finally got to place my order for a veal sandwich with mushrooms. Technology-wise, the woman took my order down on small pieces of paper. The only modern thing seemed to be the debit machine. Judging by the sign where it said it accepted cash, scribbled in pen underneath was debit. I was armed with both and paid with cash. Everyone there seemed to be Italian. I liked the homey vibe. She asked if I wanted anything else. I got a bottled diet Dr. Pepper. I found out later on that there was San Pellegrino. Oh, well. I'll get that next time. This California Sandwiches is a bit different. You can buy bottles of marinara sauce to take home. Fish and chips are on the menu. If you can fit poutine in your tummy with your sandwich, it's available. Finally, if you feel like pasta, you can get some here. I loved all the choices. It took a bit of time to get my order. There were three orders ahead of mine. Finally, my sandwich was ready. The woman who prepared asked whether I was dining in. I was. No tray. Just the sandwich wrapped in paper was handed to me. I loved all of it! The woman called me sweetie when she handed me my sandwich. It was endearing. I happily sat down and looked forward to chowing down. Why do I love California Sandwiches? The veal is larger than the bun. I opened my sandwich up and felt so happy looking at such beauty. It came with lots of napkins. You need all of them! I took my first bite. I was in heaven. The veal was tender. The breading was perfect. It was light and yummy. I loved the marinara sauce with little chunks of onion. Finally, all those sliced mushrooms got my seal of approval. The yummy bun held everything together. Some have complained that it's expensive to get a sandwich here. With taxes, my sandwich with mushrooms and a bottled drink came up to $14.50. Considering that my sandwich was huge, packed with goodness, and I didn't eat anything until dinner, it's all worth it to me. It does get messy eating this sandwich. After I was done, I washed my hands in the women's washroom. It has two stalls. It was clean. It's dated, but everything works. I'd come back here again for another yummy veal sandwich. It's good reliving good memories while creating new ones. (169)

I must say, kids don't lie when it comes to food. It's either you like or you hate. There is no in between. Love their welcoming and inviting demeanours. I think the man working there was the owner because he went above and beyond to accommodate us. I have many food allergies and he let me sub out ingredients to create the perfect meal for myself and he was extremely patient as he answered all of my questions after hours. The Food: We ordered the number 2 and 5 and the employee threw in a sample of the Thai soup for us to try. Thai Soup: The Thai soup was fantastic! It was thick, had a kick of lemon that I love and tasted delicious. We loved it so much we wish we had bought two bowls to go with our meals. #2 Bowl; My boyfriend ordered this dish as is and added tofu as his protein. It came with a peanut dressing, which he said was fantastic. The portion he received was really big and it filled him up. #5 Bowl: This bowl was a Mexican inspired bowl. I subbed out the cheese, and pita chips for more guacamole and edamame. The portion of my bowl was a little smaller than my boyfriends dish but the food was really good. It was really filling and I loved how they could accommodate my diet. Next time I might try a tangier dressing than the ranch this dish came with because I love a kick of lemon or lime juice with my meals. Would We Go Back? Absolutely !

I ordered through the app and pickup was fast/easy The wrap was fresh and well seasoned, but there was barely any protein. It felt more like eating a salad with pita wrapped around it rather than an actual wrap. Perhaps it was related to choosing steak as the protein, but the balance really impacted the taste, and it felt far more like a snack than a meal of any sort. At this price point, around $16 for a half size wrap, I'm highly hesitant to come back. Maybe their salads would be a better bet, but with so many options so close by, I'm likely going to just try another place.
