Predatory salesman, Con artists! My girlfriend bought a new ceiling fan and wanted it installed by an electrician. I took the day off to let the tech do the fan. Ean from Mr. Sparky came to the door. I got the vibe he wasn't happy that he was greeted by a 6 foot tall man. I showed him the fan to be replaced. Ean took a picture of the existing fan. He told me he would check the wires and went outside. After several minutes, I went outside to check on him. HE HAD DISASSEMBLED THE BREAKER BOX. (WTF) More bad vibes. I asked him to put it back together and give me a quote for the FAN. He came into the house and showed me pictures of the breaker box, claiming that there was corrosion and offered me packages 1-3. He said I needed a breaker box refresh for $2000. (WTF) I again asked him to switch the fan. I was quoted $320 for the fan install, but he would have to get another technician to come out. He was the salesman, not a repairman? He left without doing anything. I replaced the fan myself. Took 1 hour and a screw driver. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. These guys will prey on your insecurity and make you feel like your house is going to catch on fire. read more

I had a young man by the name of Ashton Fleming come out to my house to fix an electrical problem . Turned out to be a puzzle , and this guy, with nerves of steal , didn't let nothing phase him, like no panic . He took control of the situation did his checks and in about an hour and a half fix two issues . I had an electrician over on the same job that charged me 134.00 and didn't fix anything cause he said it was a wiring issue turns out it was a breaker on the stove and a wire that wasn't connected outside leaving my back wall out of power . Between 2 hours , Ashton had both items fixed up and running . It cost me 384. 00 but I would pay it 10 times over because I was not only impressed at the speed and knowledge he showed , but the courtesy and down to earth personality and attitude he showed . I will be requesting Ashton Fleming for all my electrical needs , and calling the company MR. Sparky because they get the job done by hiring the right people to do the job . If they are not , they should be number 1 in the business , and Mr. Ashton Fleming is a 1ST CLASS ELECTRICIAN . I just hate I didn think to tip him cause he deserved it . Similar to another reviewer's experience, we only needed a couple ceiling fans we had purchased to be installed to replace existing ones, two bathroom fans hooked to existing switches and one outlet installed. After a whole house inspection by a high pressure salesman, we were told we needed to have all outlets in kitchen, bathrooms and laundry replaced with GFCI outlets and we needed a whole house surge protector among a list of other things that needed to be done to keep our children (college students who would living in the house) safe. Total $9000, and were given options 1, 2, and 3 to choose from, but told we really needed most expensive option to protect their appliances and electronics. We fell for it since we live over 2 hours away and wanted to make sure they were taken care of. Forward 6 months to their follow up inspection. Now they say none of the outlets or switches are grounded and will need ground wires and some metal things in our outside box are not shiny anymore and need replacing. Again we get options 1, 2 and 3 for the work they say needs to be done. After some research, on our own, we find out the whole house surge protector they insisted we needed at first visit, an had installed, does not work if outlets aren't grounded. They just talked in circles when they were called out on it. They are worse than car salesmen. They prey on people who are scared of electrical work and are trusting them to do jobs they are not confident enough to do on their own. They take this opportunity to scare them into purchasing other work that isn't necessary, is overpriced, and done sloppily needing caulking to fill gaps left around installation areas. They will never step foot in our homes again. They should be ashamed of themselves. read more

I did get a call from Mr Sparky Jose manage after review. His explanation is they sent out their top electrician who then needed help from a higher electrician. Crazy uh 4 guys at one point in my kitchen to tell what the first electrician told me the night before. So the first one who is top notch couldn't figure out how to fix so need 3 guys to help him. No i know electrons aren't cheap. (my brothers in Michigan are union electricians.) But when they noticed the electrical wasn't even with the wall and knew the contractor had taken advantage of me, you would think they would ask and tell me that this isn't right. So when they figure out the problem. They said we can fix but it will be more money, but never went over what it would be. It was another 450 to fix. Now I'm not a genius but what the heck did I pay for at first. Then they inspect your house and say well this and this at the tune 20,000 to fix everything. Well they came back out to tell me the problem I was concerned about was there when they came and fixed. No didn't say it was sticking out of the wall and wasn't level with wall. It wasn't warranty work and would be another 500 to fix it. Really. I told them to get out of my house. PLEASE PLEASE READ ALL THE REVIEWS HERE. THEY ARE SCAM ARTIST. 1st, the techs are personable and well-meaning, but their pricing is nothing short of bending over and grabbing the ankles cause they will f**k you if you aren't careful. Whatever the market rate for standard work, add a grand or two, and you will land on Mr. Sparky's pricing. What's terrible is I paid damn near $3K for a 75' cable run+ 50Amp circuit breaker install that took 2 of them (one an apprentice) ~5 hours to complete. My estimate is as follows: Material $900 (retail - high end) Labor ~$2100 2100/5 = $420 $420/2 = $210 per hour (for an apprentice - WTF!) The nominal rate for an electrician in Phoenix is $140/hr; the job they did should be 3-4 hours max. So, I paid ~$1,200 above the market rate. You see the math checks. They almost got me for more, but I started breaking down their quoted work while they were working and had enough. Even funnier was when I challenged the pricing for additional proposed work, the customer account manager stated, 'They only make 7% profit on their jobs.' I was stupid for a while. When they didn't show up, I called the office and was informed that someone from their office left me a voice message that they rescheduled an appointment to another day. This was totally untrue. There was no voice mail message. In fact, I received a text message late yesterday confirming my appointment for today. Also, you don't reschedule an appointment without checking to see if the date works for the customer! I will call someone else who is dependable. read more

I would avoid this company. I had a light and fan that both stopped working in my bathroom. The technician (a supervisor) claimed I would need at least $2500 and probably over $8000 worth of work to fix my home's electrical issues. He used a lot of technical jargon and didn't explain the issue or its fix clearly. Because of the cost of the quote, I called another company (with better reviews). Their technician provided a clear explanation of what was wrong, and then fixed the issue (and two others) for $450. I am awarding Mr. Sparky a second star because everyone I spoke with was friendly and the technician came out quickly. read more

We broke a circuit breaker late afternoon and called emergency services for $300. Alex showed up an hour later took one look then needed give us a safety speech telling us our whole house could burn down unless we rewired the entire house for $33,000. This is an old house like many in the area built in the 60's. I assured him we would be ok please change the breaker. He went to his car for 30 minutes and listed 6 options for repair. We asked him to replace the breaker only. Cost another $350 for ten minutes of work. High pressure sales was not appreciated. Total cost $650 very expensive I can not recommend sparky. read more

They came out promptly, very courteous, but EXTREMELY overpriced. These guys are ripping people off. I read the many other reviews mentioning overpriced services, so I expected them to be high. To install 2 ceiling fans and replace 2 related switches, they wanted $1046!!! I immediately told them NO and found a reputable master electrician who did all the same work for $275. $275 is reasonable for this area. $1046 is just a plain ripoff. Despite the fact that they were very professional, responsive and well spoken, their employee purposefully misquoted my job and referenced work that was completely unnecessary. I saw this company on 2 Fix It and thought i'd give them a try. I was charged $320.00 to replace a day/night photo sensor for our front lights. Here's the breakdown... $49.00 service call $89.00 diagnostic fee $199.00 no fuss price to replace the sensor (#3 on their Straightforward Pricing) They replaced the small recessed photo sensor with one that extrudes from the side of the house. Clearly it is not the same part. WTH?! I phoned Mr Sparky to log my complaint - they were very nice. As of now, the owner of the franchise will be calling me to discuss my options. I'll post an update on the results. I just believe that if you are paying over $300.00 for a little photo light sensor, you should get a similar part in return. Unbelievable. I needed to put in 400Amp service to my house, and tried these guys. Not only did they fail to contact APS, and told me they had, but then after two weeks, presented me a hastily scribed hand written note for 4x the price, and twice as long, of all the other electrical folks I presented the job to. They would not even let me keep the estimate they wanted to present to me-- I had to make a copy myself. Horrible presentation and worse, integrity is greatly lacking. I would stay very far away from these guys. On the other hand, I found GREAT SERVICE with All Amps Electric. Literally 1/4 the cost, and job done in less than 5 hours. read more

I would never use this service again, As the job was to replace the 100 amp service to a 200 amp service simple....I had to break out the concrete before he could start no big deal ,7ooo.oo dollars later, now when use my micro wave it pops the breaker ask if he could put a 20 amp breaker to replace the 15 amp. said no. then went into saying they could run a dedicated line and$$$ I said no. as I explained it was a 20 before did not matter $$ speech needless to say.. watch your tools and they snagged a 5 gal bucket full of copper and brass scraps I had saved over the year with my kid teaching him to recycle..He said dad I bet they the have a giant pile.....oh phoenix stay clear... read more

I had a stand by appointment for a certain day which gets you a cheaper trip charge. They did not show up that day and asked me to reschedule so I did. Now I understand why they charge a trip charge, it's because they are so overpriced that i'm sure that a lot of people send them away once they hear what they want to charge. It was about double what another company quoted me without charging me a trip charge. I had to pay $49 for the service guy to come to my house and show me their outrageous prices because they wouldnt give me a quote over the phone. Their price list is a no fuss one price only so I really don't understand why they couldn't give me a quote over the phone. The trucks are really nice looking though! Mr. Sparky is the first electric company that will pop up on google when looking for an electrician in the area. Keep, scrolling because this is the biggest rip off in the valley. They charge you 60 bucks just to come tell you what's wrong and then the labor on top of that. If you don't agree with the price, they still charge you the $60. It was over $200 just for them to fix my breaker, no re-wiring at all. Stupid. And the guy working spoke broken English, so there was no negotiating price. read more
