I rarely leave reviews, but I had to recognize Mohammad. We stopped by around 11 PM, and despite it being late at night, his energy, attitude, and hospitality were absolutely outstanding. He treated us like valued guests, not like customers walking in near closing time. What impressed me most was that he genuinely seemed to care about our experience. He was friendly, attentive, made great recommendations, and even surprised us with a small piece of chocolate on the house. It's the little things like that that people remember. Restaurants are only as good as the people who represent them, and Mohammad is the kind of employee every business wishes they had. I was really disappointed with my experience at Mr. Shawarma. The first thing I noticed was that many of the chairs were dirty and stained, which didn't leave a good impression. On top of that, the front doors were left wide open, allowing flies to come in and buzz around the restaurant while people were eating. Parking was also frustrating. Every parking space appeared to be limited to 30 minutes, which adds unnecessary pressure if you're trying to enjoy your meal. The food was another letdown. The prices are what you'd expect for a full adult meal, but the portions were so small they felt more appropriate for an infant than for a paying adult. It definitely wasn't worth the price. What bothered me the most was the service. One of the employees was snacking while taking my order, which came across as unprofessional. In the middle of everything, she suddenly left, and I later saw her moving her vehicle after it had been parked in a handicapped-accessible space. From what I observed, she did not appear to have a visible need for using that space. That, combined with the other issues, left a very poor impression. Overall, the cleanliness, tiny portion sizes, and lack of professionalism made this a disappointing experience. I won't be returning. read more

This place is hella awesome & authentic! Hent works behind the counter & she can cook and she is really nice! We had the Chipotle Chicken Shawarma & Lemon Cilantro Beef Shawarma. Both were so good. The dishes were generously portioned and flavorful. The baklava was also delicious! Don't leave without trying some of these treats. The dining room is not fancy, but it is clean and functional. Wow! This place is a hidden gem! The food was so good and full of flavor. The portions are huge and affordable. The service was friendly and quick. I asked for hot sauce and they gave me samples of both of their hot sauces and they were both good. I ordered the chipotle chicken shawarma and a side of eggplant salad. Both items were great. The counter was set up to take orders too so it would have been nice if he just took the order since it would have taken the same amount of time as sending me to the tablet. I ordered a shawarma wrap and my mom in law for the half chicken. Th wrap was decent, not great, but ok. My MIL said the chicken was dry which she says means it was overcooked. Mr. Shawarma is in a convenient location just off the main road and freeway, which makes it an easy late-night stop. We ended up waiting about 23 minutes for our food, and unfortunately the fries came out cold and didn't taste fresh; not crispy like the menu states. The rest of the items were a bit inconsistent, some were overly seasoned, while others felt under-flavored. The taziki sauce was not creamy and had no flavor. They have tons of sides, between all of our orders, we tried at least five different sides, but not one stood out. We probably should have ordered burgers. I went with the "Double Trouble" wrap which had chicken and beef in it. $17 or so after a small tip. How was it? Double Trouble Wrap- Eh...it was just ok. Like a burrito, but I liked it a lot less. They were also playing rap music prominently featuring the n-word when none of the staff are Black which I find to be kind of awkward. They had the doors wide open letting cold air into the restaurant on a super cold evening, which I feel is inconsiderate for those dining in. Overall, they missed the mark on this visit. The presentation was beautiful too, which made it even better. The shrimp taco had a little kick and just the right amount of crunch. There is only one person working, so if you have even a little bit of common sense, you'll understand it might take some time. But trust me, it's worth it. Let's begin with the menu. Looks like a nice mix of available food. I got the double trouble which turned out to be pretty good. My wife got beef skewers (not kabob) actual chunks of beef which had great flavor but was tough and chewy. Double trouble had great flavor too but I think next time I'll try the chipotle or cilantro sauce version. Fries could use a little more "seasoning" since they are touted as seasoned fries. I tried to order but was directed to a kiosk to place my order, I did so to help them out. As we sat waiting for my order 3 customers approached and ordered at the counter and not at the kiosk so I felt that was bs. Keep it standard for everybody if you're going to tell me to use the kiosk tell everyone that walks in the door. Also, machines were out of receipt paper and I had to get a digital receipt sent to my phone. I would prefer a real receipt. I get a bunch of spam texts and hate giving my number out anymore. Loud middle eastern bangers are playing in the hot restaurant with an industrial fan spreading the El Cajon heat amongst the place while blowing our utensils and napkins everywhere. A small mini-split unit AC on the wall is broken or owner is being cheap and not turning it on. We could not find a clean table, nothing had been wiped down, drippings from other peoples meals, small chunks of meat on the tables and floor. I had to wipe a table down myself. I did not see an employee come out to wipe tables down between customers the entire time there. Then the restroom, had to wash my hands after my meal. I don't know the last time the unisex restroom was cleaned during the day but it sure needed it. At least there was soap and paper for drying your hands so that's a plus. Overall not giving this place anywhere near five stars. Was not greeted with a smile or anything friendly, the lady working was much nicer than the young cook. Cleanliness is big for me, someone coming out and wiping down a table with a clean cloth speaks volumes to me. Food was good but not spectacular. read more

The food truck has a strong following so I'm assuming some of the scores are carryover. I thought it was pretty basic. There was plenty of room for seating but most of the area inside was empty. Service was fast and friendly. I had the Mr Shawarma plate with beef over rice. It was just under $20. It was filling but nothing special. Mr. Shawarma and his crew 6 some tasty food. I stopped in for an early dinner before the rush. I had a Middle Eastern Pita stuffed with beef shawarma, pickles, tomatoes, onions, parsley, sumac, and tahini sauce with side, and I choose seasoned waffle fries. The beef shawarma was tender and tasty, and the pita came stuffed with a good amount. I like the tahini sauce it was flavorful and not overly done. The onions and pickles worked very well in this pita sandwich. I would have liked it better if they would warm up the pits bread. It was cold and gave a dry texture as a result. They should warm it up in the hot griddle they use. The waffle fries were great. They were crispy and well seasoned. They were great eating with they Jajeek sauce with yogurt, cucumber, and mint.
