My family has been going to Mr Scrib's Pizza since my mom was a little girl, so for at least 45 years. Their crust is thin and crispy, and they cut their pizza into squares, so you don't have to worry about the piece flopping over and all the toppings sliding off. Their flavors are delicious - definitely our favorite pizza around. This location is always clean and the service is efficient while not being overly friendly. The customer service on the phone was not the greatest for one they hung up on me after giving me an attitude all because I asked for extra ranch because where we were ordering it to we did not have any and after asking that they sighed and said sure and hung up without telling me my total and charged me for it and I didn't even get it. The food was not the best it came inside a paper bag inside the box for starters and the cheese stuck to it so I got a mangled pizza out of it. Just Average. New to the lakeshore and wanted to try out one of the local spots for Pizza! Ordered thin crust pizzas: 14 inch Deluxe, 12 inch Cheese with 3 toppings. Made modifications to each pizza and they were followed correctly. Ordered both "crispy" and they arrived with a bit of char on the crust. Delicious. We also ordered Hot Wings. Breaded and fried, they were very good, but did not have any hot sauce on them. They had a bit of heat in the breading, but it was in random bites, not what I would call hot wings. They were served with a packet of blue cheese. It was under the wings, and by the time it arrived at my house, it was hot. I find it weird they wrap the pizza in a bag on a cardboard circle, then a pizza box. Delivery was quick, I was expecting an hour for delivery and it arrived in 30 minutes! Came highly recommended by a local friend. Placed a pickup order for 3 pizzas on their website - total ~$52. Note: They upcharge for every single topping. On arrival, we discovered one pizza was left off of the order. We waited at the drive-up window for it to be prepared. New total ~$77. NO concession offered, NO apology, NOTHING. Told us if we'd called in the order, they'd be able to do something. So our mistake ordering online, I guess. Bigger mistake: Ordering here at all. His review: "This is where people who moved away want to eat when they're back." Sold! I've ordered from here a few times, always doing carryout through their drive thru window. I'm a big fan of the thin crust pizza and their toppings are great and I've always had an outstanding pizza from them, but I think their prices are a bit steep even for a premium not-a-chain pizza place. The large deluxe pizza that we ordered and picked up was such a tremendous disappointment. It had barely any toppings on it. We ordered a small deluxe as well and it was perfect. Super disappointed. We orders Scribs tonight because my car is in the shop having brake work done. We were happy to wait an hour for the order. It arrived cold. It's gross and we won't eat it. I called Scribs and at first the person I spoke to expressed surprise/disbelief that the pizza would be cold. It is. It was. She offered me a $20 credit on my next order. I said, you can have the food back, I would like a refund. She said she can't do that but offered to replace the food. I ordered a large pizza with half light pepperoni and have mushroom, green pepper and pepperoni. The pizza we got (after we drove 15 minutes to pick it up and brought it back home) literally had 3 slices with just pepperoni and the rest with all of the toppings. I called and I had to drive back to get another one AND return the pizza. When I got there they said it was our fault and that the pizza slid. I asked how there were so many toppings all of the pizza and where did the cheese pepperoni go it if just "slid." The woman there was unapologetic and said she made it correctly and it was our fault. I just asked her to look at it and admit it was a mistake and she refused. I guess the price of one pizza is worth losing a customer of almost 20 years. read more

In town visiting family and decided to try this place after reading some reviews. Absolutely disappointed. The man who took my order was not very kind to start. Picked up the pizzas and paid $38 for 2 thin crust pizzas. 1 just cheese and the other with pepperoni. Pricey I thought but if it's good pizza, you get what you pay for. Mind you, we are visiting from Chicago so we knew that it wouldn't top pizza from back home but still have to give it a try. Oh em gee. We opened the pizzas and they are SOGGY! Absolutely soft and doesn't even taste ALL the way cooked. The outside of the pizza barely barely barely had a crunch to it and the middle pieces were just disgustingly soggy. Part of the pizza was stuck to the cardboard. Not worth the money I paid. If you try it, ask for the pizza well done and see if that will make a difference. We won't ever go here again. I've gone to Mr Scribbs a few times over the years, never cared for the sandwiches, but the pizza I thought was one of the better ones in town. I actually would have gone more often, but the prices are extremely high comparatively speaking. Today, I thought I'd splurge. Large pizza (16") sausage and fresh mushroom. About $22 with tax! Wow, a bit more than I expected for a pizza! But here's the kicker....it wasn't that good! Perhaps they changed the recipe? The top of the pizza was watery....not greasy, maybe it was the mushrooms? The cheese on the ends was burnt, maybe that affected the taste? In any event, I will try another pizza place next time.....perhaps Palermo's down the street or Mama Mia's in Spring Lake. I am convinced that the people of West Michigan have permanently lost their tastebuds. Some of the reviews rated this pizza the best in Michigan. Clearly, they are operating with a different definition of pizza. The pizza almost completely lacked sauce. What was there was a coat of tinted water that might taste like tomato given enough to drink. What it lacked in sauce, it more than made up for in grease on top. Nearly 20 napkins were used to sop up the grease. At least the green peppers were fresh. My son ordered the shrimp fries. Normally, a young child will gravitate to anything deep fried that you can dip in sauce. But when the child says it was all bread and no shrimp, you've missed the mark. When in Grand Haven again, we will not be returning here. But this place will go on. 50 years of bad pizza have stunted the taste buds of this town. (For another example, see Fricano's.). Pizza is so good and addictive. Must order it well done for complete perfection. Crust is the thin kind where you feel you could eat an entire pie, but you really shouldn't! They have a drive through where you can pick up your pizza. Crowds and long wait time, and phone line that is busy proves it to be a local fave. Never again. If I could give this place O stars, I would. When we came in, there was NOBODY in the restaurant, no customers, no employees. I walked to the counter, puzzled, jingled my keys, to find a young lady with an attitude. She immediatley told me she would be "right with me" and fussed with the pizza ovens, Finally, a delivery driver took my order, ( $35.00 ) worth of food, and told me it would be 20 minutes. I waited..and waited and waited for 25 minutes. Watched the delivery drivers come into the back door, walk in, prepare food, no hand washing, picking and eating out of tht toppings. I should have just asked for a refund then, FINALLY...I got my food, took it home It was not edible. The tartar sauce was spoiled, the fish was "off" at best. The roll was pre-packaged a la school cafeteria, the pickle was squashed, and the fries were undercooked and limp. Like I said, NEVER again. I took Mary B's comment in her review about "long wait time" to mean you had a long wait to sit down. When we pulled up, plenty of open parking spots, so we figured we were good to go. Ahh, but long wait time means how long it takes to get your food. 40 minutes for a pizza (which they tell you up front). People next to us were playing cards - they knew. Okay, let's clarify this place. You order at the counter. If you're smart, you've called in your order ahead of time so you don't have to sit in the heat for 40 minutes. They yell your name when your pizza is done. They have ~10 tables. On to the pizza. You can get thin crust or deep pan. Mistakenly, we opted for the deep pan. When I think deep pan, I think halfway between a thin crust pizza and a Chicago stuffed pizza i.e. a deep pan pizza should probably be about an inch to 1&1/2" inches thick. Their deep pan is what most other places would probably call regular. I would say it was at most 1/2" thick. Crust had an odd taste - couldn't put my finger on it. Maybe like pastry dough? Cheese was fantastic - salty, flavorful, etc. Sauce was basically non-existent. Toppings - we went with the veggie i.e. green pepper, onion, mushroom, garlic. They tasted good although I don't remember the garlic. People behind us offered us some bread sticks (we must have looked really hungry), but prefaced the offer with "they're not very good." Not sure if they have air conditioning - I was sweating - could just be the heat from the pizza ovens. Counter lady - not friendly. read more

Only giving a star because I have to. Ordered and picked up 2 pizzas and a pizza sub. Sub felt like it just came out of the frig (no big deal cuz my husband will eat it). Opened both pizzas... cheese pizza doesn't even look cooked and the other only half way. I called to let them know. They were sorry and I could drive back with the food and they could remake it. Why can't you freaking make it correct the first time??? Glad I wasted $43 on dinner tonight . Warming up the oven at home to hopefully save dinner.
