My grandfather owned and ran SweetWater Pool Service in Anehiem, CA. I grew up servicing pools as one of the workers and learned how to manage the office payroll and billing. When my grandfather died I was disabled from a bad accident so, I tried a pool service, but they did not do the D.E. flushes or change the filter skins when they got old and torn. Since my step mom uses Mr. Poolman, they were called. Ruben came out and informed us our pool filter and system was old and it would cost to repair, my elderly father (in his early 80's) paid $1,989.00. Ruenben was told we wanted the system replaced with the solar gain and everything piped as it was existing, just new. The two men who came out and worked six hours did what seemed fine however upon review of our footage what we have found since is that after lunch that day, our cameras recorded beer cans in the back of their truck in the driveway. The pool pump worked until the second month when the worker tried to back flush the D.E. And did not plug the drain. We were notified that there were problems, Ruben told me a disabled woman who has been raised around pools, pumps, and solar since child hood that I had let the water level drop too low and there were three things that were need.
Ruben said a basket and housing had melted and the brand new system needed to be fully repiped. I left my step moms and upon arriving 9 minutes later, I took phone videos, I did not authorised at that time to replace anything...we were not billed for anything new...I found that the basket and housing were not melted at all, the pool was simply not sucking but blowing D.E. back into the pool. Upon discussing this with my father, I turned off the pool pump, and changed the locks on our gates. My father asked for Mr. Poolman to show us the melted basket and parts they said needed replaced. Marlin came out and could not produce, or show me melted parts, all the parts he showed me were working. He gave me a bogus explination that I did not fill the pool with enough water. My Father and I called four different pool services, one being my uncles which he changed my grandfathers name of the company when he took it over. All three pool companies and my brother and uncle stated the same findings with different quotes and various prices. Each quote states that the pipes were leaking(several were not plumbed so the water could not flow properly) pipes rubbing against valves and other pipes that were not extended properly, some were angled wrong so pressure built up wrong, three were not even glued together so they blew apart and leaked, they even left old pipes that were 18 years old...isnt new suppost to be new??? It was explained after the fact that Mr. Pool Man does not replace solar pipes. Several of the pipes had not even been glued where connected pipes had no screw joints... Rueben's demand after two months was for originaly $500, he came down to $450 then a week later he wanted $750 to repipe it all and change the three broken parts two being the housing and basket that were melted...never showed us melted parts or pictures of anything melted. At this point its been three weeks and we had not authorized anyone to make any repairs as of yet. Ruben's explination as to why the system failed after two months was to blame me for the problem. Ask yourself an important question, do you want a company that blames you for their poor workmanship touching your exspensive investment? I have camera's that record video in the pool and pump areas which prove that Ruben was lying. Rueben and Mr. Poolman obviously dont know how solar works on a pool. Just because Im a disabled woman does not mean I cant figure out when someones explination does not match with what my eyes as an engineer see.
Johnny's pools service came out and had a very reasonable bid of $100.
My brother and uncle who both worked for my grandfathers pool service decided they would do the repairs which cost $25 to fix the only thing wrong with the entire pool, a vaulve that broke from old age, gee nice replacement job Mr. Pool Man Service. Oh and the cost of the hot blue glue in the can to repair several leaking pipes that Mr. Poolman's Plumber failed to do the day they rebuilt the system two months prior
I would not suggest this company to my worst enemy! It took two hours and $25 to fix what Mr. Pool Man Service wanted $750 for. You do the math, this company takes advantage of disabled women and the elderly.
Mr. Poolman has known for three weeks now that we were getting estimates so they have been doing nothing, Marlin was told in person I would be having the fence replaced and the locks would be changed to call me the day of service so I could unlock the gate and to knock so I could relock the gate. Yesterday I was home all day, no call, no knock, just a notice on the new gate that it was locked. today they dropped us. What wonderful service! I would not recomend them to the devil! read more
