First time at this location...and will never go back. The experience was horrible. One of the sandwiches was a French dip but I wanted the works on it. Which the woks was not wanting to do! He kept saying " no" I said yes I want the works! Three sandwiches, took about 30mins to make. Two on Dutch one French bread and all three stale! Barely any meat, my sandwich had one pickle... The poor reviews surprise me. My co-workers and I have been here several times and have had no issues. We order on-line, there are no mistakes, our orders are ready when we get there. They have limited vegetarian options, but more than most sandwich places. Surprisingly really bad. My husband's beef and cheddar sandwich on sliced sourdough that was really stale. How can you have stale bread in the middle of the day? Wouldn't the preparer notice that the bread was stale? I ordered a turkey and Jack with the works on Rye and something was really off. Not sure if it was the turkey or the works but I ended up spitting it out. $15 sandwiches should be awesome! This mr pickles location out ranks all the others. Orders are always perfect, well made and on time. Have never had an issue with anything at this location. Sandwiches are super fresh and are never skimp with ingredients. My absolute favorite is the Italian on sweet roll with extra veggies. The garlic sauce and Italian dressing are a perfect flavor combination. The free cookie is always a bonus too. I prefer my cookies on the softer chewy side but while these are rarely soft, they do have a perfect ratio of chocolate chips. Can't complain with free! But, when I opened it up, the bread looked pale and didn't have the brown crunch on it, I took a bite and it was not good..the dough was doughy and chewy and maybe it was undercooked bread. The high counter which prevents the customer from seeing the sandwich while it's being made always lends itself to a "Hail Mary" experience when getting a sandwich here. For my family and I, one of the most important aspects of a sandwich shop is their bread; and this place has great sourdough rolls (our favorite). Soft on the inside, crunchy on the outside, slightly chewy, and sour! After trying this place out, and introducing it to my parents, this has become their go to spot when they want sandwiches. It used to be Togos across the way, but they have fallen off. They started carrying sourdough and toasting them, but other than the Pastrami (#9) its just not worth it. Ingredients are good, and ordering online is simple. Customize your sandwiches like you want, add/remove condiments, whatever you need. They happened to get my order wrong this time around, made me a half instead of a whole, but charged for a whole. I made a call back within minutes, and the lady who packed my food, tall blonde, remembered, apologized, and said they would make it right the next time. Paired with the fact that she adjusted my phone number to account for points (I put my # instead of my mom's, and she switched it on the online order so my mom could claim the points), what more can you ask for in terms of customer service? People make mistakes, we are all human. All in all, a great place to grab a bite. Try their signature, or build your own.... it's hard to say what's good or not, because like pizza, everyone's sandwich preferences are different. One day I had limited time and had to be at a school event so we decided to grab a sandwich for dinner. I will say that the kids meals are decently priced. So angry right now!!!! My fiancé brought me all the way from Berkeley to satisfy my craving for a sandwich. We called in our sandwiches and I had to give the girl the order 3 times before she repeated it back to me correctly. My fiancé picks the sandwiches up and we drive back home. When we get to the house and open up the sandwiches BOTH of them are so incorrect it was upsetting! Messing up a pregnant woman's food is just not a good thing lol. His sandwich literally had nothing on it except bread meat and cheese! Granted some people eat their sandwiches like that how could whoever made the sandwich not ask and make sure that is correct. At the least we would have gotten the garlic spread they are famous for. Just so frustrated I was expecting an amazing sandwich but absolutely didn't get that.
