Beef and meat pho 4/10

My daughter and son in law loves pork belly here so we came by for lunch before they headed home. It's been a while since we've gone here so I wanted to try a few entrees. They're all delicious with good portion but the pho is not it. Broth tasted plain even after I added the condiments. Highly recommend the pork belly, beef laab and cucumber papaya. If I ever come back it'll be strictly for these items only. Reminder: Have cash otherwise they take Venmo, Zelle and PayPal

This restaurant is located in a plaza so there are ample parking. The inside of the restaurant is small so if they do get busy I can see it being very crowded. We ordered the pork belly with purple sticky rice, Thai boat noodle, and papaya salad. I love pork belly, but I didn't like the texture of their pork belly. The skin was super dry (like a staleness texture). It was very hard to chew. I did like the pepper sauce that came with it. It was spicy but also a bit sweet. My friend didn't like the sweetness but it's all a preference. The Thai boat noodle was not flavorful and a bit disappointing. I liked that they added pork belly in the noodle, but the broth was not rich. The broth lacked some seasoning. The papaya salad was probably the best that I had here. It wasn't the best that I've had, but I do like the freshness of it. I think if you're just super craving Southeast Asian food and have no other option then it's a decent restaurant.

Baby caterpillar

I have always go in for Thai Boat...Price is okay. Fast service but no customer service. No greets at all. Inside is clean but no AC or air ventilation where it's stuffy. While I ate Thai boat, and found baby caterpillar in my bowl. I stopped eating. :-(

Wanted to give this place a second try! But it's always the older lady who hates to see my husband coming for some reason . First disappointment was putting our noodle plate sideways . Now no pork belly whatsoever! $20 and something change just to not get our order correctly!! Super mad . We love this place but ever since they took over it has been a nightmare with that lady up at front!!

Decided to give this place a try since I've heard so many good things about their papaya- and it's in their name! I'll let y'all know fr, it's the kind of Asian place where you're not going to get the best service. You can walk up and order for take out or there's a seating area for you to sit and have them take your order. There was a kind younger fella who took our order and was very sweet to ensure we had everything we needed (extra bowls, food and etc). The restaurant itself is small and crowded. Seems to be very popular as people were constantly coming and going. We ordered the pork belly which was CRISPY and dry... wasn't very juicy imo. Seems to have been sitting for quite a while. Tried the purple rice which was ok, could've been softer. The ka Poon came out quick but wasn't hot at all. Temperature was similar to the kind that are prepackaged. AND it's on the sweeter side! NOW FOR THE PAPAYA. I just realized we weren't given any cabbage lol but that's probably why the portion was huge. It was so much papaya! The flavor was there and it hit so good. Get the Lao style y'all!! I did knock down 2 stars because the food didn't taste fresh except for the papaya. The service was typical Asian service in exception for our younger server who took care of us. The service is a bit slow since we basically finished everything and then the papaya came out last. Overall, if you're craving Hmong food then this will def hit the spot. I'd come back but just wouldn't have high expectations on service since it's always busy!

Kopiak is too sweet. It honestly tastes like they just put pho broth in with kopiak noodles and cut up chicken.

Kopiak tastes sweet. Noodles are all different shapes and broken. The broth taste like beef pho instead.

8/22/23 Getting lunch! Two small chicken pho and shrimp spring rolls. The worker said it would be ready in 15 min. I went in to get it! Pretty congested restaurant. The order was ready. The worker wasn't kind. Oh well! Hopefully the food isPaid for the order and left. Lunchtime! Chickens pho was really good! Really like how they make it easy to put it all together and enjoy! Fresh veggies including lots of hot peppers to spice it up and make it better! Tasty noodles! They include a spicy hot mix to add and thst was really good too! Tasty chicken as well! Shrimp spring roll was really fresh and tasty! It had a different kind of sauce than the peanut sauce and it was a nice change! Mother said hers was good and everything tastes fresh! Good amount of food! Lots of leftovers. Good lunch! Wish the service was good.

Needed to have some pho while in Cali and was recommended to come by Mr. Papaya's. We were greeted and seated promptly. Needed a minute to look at the menu since it was our first time in a veryyyy long time. Our waiter was probably an owner or manager because he was super attentive and cared about our service. Though slow, and we had to remind him of some dishes, he didn't hesitate to apologize and run back into the kitchen to make things right. He also stated that, that day for some reason was an off day for the kitchen and they're usually on point. We ordered the house special pho, crispy roasted pork, very fresh rice rolls, and papaya salad. The pho is more Lao style than Vietnamese. The broth isn't as flavorful as I'd like but all the toppings and condiments were a huge plus. They also had a jar of shrimp paste at every table too! If you know, you know shrimp paste has gone up in price so that was amazing for me to see. The rice rolls, or banh coun, were so fresh they actually came out fluffy. The wrap was delicate and had a great bite. Though the filling was a little lacking. To be fair I don't care for much filling in my banh coun but I care when the wrap thick. Roast pork was definitely a favorite. Went great with the pepper sauce that came with. Sticky rice does not come with the pork so you will have to order that separately. We know how sticky rice tastes so we didn't order any. LOL Papaya was a little disappointing imo. It just didn't hit the mark for me. I ordered lao style. Portion was generous and came with a side of cabbage as well. Overall we left full and happy. Had to pack some leftovers to go. Ate the leftovers the next day and they were still very yummy!

Not sure why anyone would bring out a dirty serving spoon, but this is disgusting.

Came for lunch with a big party five of us total they gave us the big table which was kind big enough to seat 9. It was empty inside. The utensil container was dirty. All the spoons were dirty. you can see the grime/residue on the soup spoons. Our food came out a long while after the two pho bowls ordered.. almost expected so I'm not mad about that. What gave me the cringe was everything was dirty from the serving spoon in our soup to finding hair in our fried food platter food. Containers were dirty, Completely ruined our appetite. They cooked a new order of egg rolls since the first one had hair on the serving platter. The feedback I got from the pho was that it tasted fine. What we ordered was a curry and what traditionally comes with curry is potatoes so again I was very disappointed.. red curry came out like yellow curry. There was flavor but just not the traditional type we wanted. Once it was time to pay, I walked up to the cashier and then had to walk to the side swinging doors where the servers come in and out of to say I'm ready to pay. It was just totally ridiculous for it being an empty restaurant. & cash only I won't recommend, very disappointed!

Thai boat
Darian G.

I've been here a couple times and the food is really good. I loved both of my orders, the Thai boat as well as the ginger chicken. The customer service is ok, the lady can be rude especially since there is a language barrier. The food is always out fast and good quality ingredients.

A bowl of rice is $12 dollars, ripoff smile. Deep fried spoil fish. My first and last time.

They accept cash, PayPal & venmo. Picture taken 06/24/2022.

But since we were dinning in I decided to try their Steak and Eggs with the bread. It was sooooooo good. The warm bread was crunchy on the outside and nice and soft in the inside. The eggs and meat came out on a sizzling try. There were two sunny side up eggs, thick cut of sweet/salty/tender marinated beef, small mushrooms, and pate on top. Paired with the bread this was a very comforting and delicious dish. The Nam Nuong rolls were good. Good portion of fillings and great crunchiness of the eggrolls wrappers and thick cut of the nam Nuong pork. I was only disappointed in the sauce. It was good but lacking depth of flavors. I think my expectation was it go be like the ones at Brodard's. And it wasn't. Located in the back corner, it can be a little hard to find parking if it gets busy but there is also the side parking lot. There was a wait list but we waited in line at the to go counter to ask to be seated. We were given our water and ordered. Once the food was dropped off we weren't checked up on again but this didn't bother us and you pay at the counter afterwards. The place had a lot of seatings with some seatings outside. There were tv playing Vietnamese food channels that was cool. I didn't get anything from their huge options of drinks and Che this time though. Looking forward to doing so next time. If you haven't tried this place, I would highly recommend their Vietnamese sandwiches with extra pate and butter.

Wanted to give this place a shot because it's close to my new work place and really enjoy it!…read more It's attached to the Tea Shop, which you have to walk through first to get to the restaurant. You'll then have to wait to be seated at the register. I think this set-up is kind of awkward but hey, at least they have cute sidewalk seating. There are plenty of tables and long benches to sit at and the restaurant itself feels clean and well-lit! The staff are super helpful also. Tried the House Special Beef Pho and it was pretty tasty! You do have the option to order your dish with regular thin noodles, flat noodles, or egg noodles. The broth is basil-y and the flavor has great depth. They have a self-serve station for condiments where you can grab some chili oil, jalapeños, bean sprouts, and lime. My favorite thing about this restaurant is that I don't feel too bloated after eating here (compared to other pho restaurants). Been enjoying this restaurant and eating here at least once a week!

My memory is shot. I don't want to be handing out 5 stars so easily but I think they deserve it. The restaurant is very clean, and I love the little Asian lanterns they have, all different, above each table. Plenty of seating. When we got there (a little after 5), there was only one other table occupied... by the time we left (6:30), every table was nearly taken. Our waitress, as well as the other on the floor, were both very welcoming and friendly. They handled the service remarkably as a team. The fact that they were a packed house and still were very attentive with us, checking how we're doing, checking on our water refills... these are the little things I appreciate most (and, of course, good food). I got the Pho with the Fatty Brisket, my friend got just the Steak Pho. They have a bar against the wall with all garnishes you may need to grab what you'd like. This is pretty smart... It saves them from waste. Instead of giving people items they may not use-- they would just grab what they'd like themselves. My friend grabbed her goodies, I prefer mine as is. To me, if your broth is good and doesn't require me to flavor it... I'll eat it just like that (unless I feel like adding spice). I've only ever been to a few other Pho places where I had to season up the broth myself...definite no no for them. All my friends who have gone out to eat Pho with me know I eat it just how I get it. Pho from my Mama is a different story though... I put the works (not because it's not flavorful) but, it's just different. Moving on... They also have a Teazona in their establishment. I've tried a few different drinks in the past but came to regularly deciding on the Tiramisu Milk Tea (no flan for me, light boba). Make sure to shake it well. You can also let them know your preference on the level of sweetness. We both got this tonight and it nearly tipped me over on the full scale. Couldn't finish it. Everything was really good though. Pho was the perfect choice for this weird, gloomy weather we've been having. The price is a bit up there but that seems to be the norm everywhere nowadays. But-- for the portion, the quality, and the service? Worth it.

This pho has a deep, rich, and flavorful broth, with a generous amount of meat. Our server encouraged us to melt some of the marrow into the broth, resulting in a silky and decadent soup. Ordered pork chop, hot tea and pho with marrow which I have already reviewed. Pork chop and sauce is a number two seller directly behind the pho. When I want a pork chop, I want it moist, and the fat crispy and salted and seasoned well. This hit every single mark! I normally care that I am in a restaurant and don't chew on bones. I did not have one care in the world and picked up my pork chop bone and chewed every single crispy morsel of caramelized goodness from that bone. The sauce that accompanies the pork, rice and egg was slightly sweet and was the perfect balance to dip rice and pork into! It was light and bright and enhanced the flavors not overpowering them. The egg. It is surprising how many places can't cook an egg where the yolks natural fatty goodness isn't overcooked. I busted the yolk and let it drip all over my rice mixing it in to give the perfect amount of salt and fat mixed with the swing pork and sauce! It was a perfectly delicate bite filled with different textures! I will definitely order this again! The hot tea is made with natural herbs in it and not a cheap paper tea bag like other places. It is very simple, mild tea that is easy on the tongue and the belly. I enjoy my pot of hot tea every time I come! Thanks again for a day filled with excellent customer service and phenomenal food! I had plenty of leftover for the next day and the day after! The broth was delicious with deep rich flavors and the noodles were slightly al dente, which I loved. I couldn't help myself and active point picked up my bowl and just started sipping the broth. My wife ordered the same thing as I, minus the meatballs and she too, could not get over how much flavor the broth had, almost like they had been slow cooking this for the past three days straight. The spring rolls were 100% handmade and the filling inside was delicious. We did bring our kids with us and we're definitely nervous because they are very picky eaters. They do offer a kids menu, but there isn't much to it. It's basically rice broth and your choice of meat. We ordered my 4-year-old daughter a small bowl of rice with broth and chicken; she loved this and kept asking for more! My son (7) went big and ordered pho with squid... he inhaled everything! Even asking if we could order more squid on the side to which we did and he ate that as well. This was huge win for mom and dad, now we can do pho to the family dining out rotation.
