After correcting a mold issue in two of our bedrooms, we needed to have them painted. We made a list of the painters nearby, read several YELP reviews, checked them out with the Better Business Bureau, and made appointments with several to come and give us an estimate. Many never replied to our calls and emails. We don't believe in chasing down someone for the privilege of paying them to do a job that obviously isn't important to them. Schlomi Ohana, "Mister Painter", did reply and we are very pleased with the results. He arrived at our house on time. He's a very personable and polite man. After looking at what needed to be done, he explained how he planned to do the job and gave us his estimate. We were impressed at how thorough his explanation of the "whats" and "hows" of the job. We were also surprised at the price we were quoted. It was good enough that we decided to have a third bedroom and our upstairs hallway done as well. When Mr. Ohana returned to finalize the deal, he told us the job would take four days to complete. He went on to say that he would be present at our house for most of the day his crew was working. This was important to us because of a bad prior experience with a different contractor. Before beginning, Mr. Ohana returned to our house and spent some time taking pictures of several problem areas and explained how they would be handled. He asked us to sign a simple "contract" that outlined what would be done, the price and confirmed payments made. We were comfortable with this idea because it set limits and expectations for the job. Because of the mold problem, even though we'd done some research, he also gave us some advice regarding paint, primer, using anti-microbial additives, color and finish. We did our best to move as much stuff out of the bedrooms as possible. We figured the more we could move out, the less Mr Ohana had to move and then he could get through the job faster. The first day they prepared the rooms. This involved moving furniture out of the way, protecting our floors and carpets, and scraping and plastering areas where paint was peeling or the wall plaster had chipped away. Mr. Ohana and his crew arrived early and got right to work. We were impressed with how careful they were with our possessions, and the skill they displayed doing their job. They ended the day at 4:00, after completing what they said they would do and thoroughly cleaned up after themselves. The second, third, and fourth days were no different. They always showed up early, worked carefully, and completely cleaned up after themselves before leaving for the day. At the end of each day, before leaving, Mr. Ohana would show us the work that was done and checked if anything was amiss or needed to be redone. We couldn't ask for better treatment. We had discovered the start of a small mold problem in one of our closets and behind a desk, which we didn't know about when we set up the job. It was easily included in the job detail with a very minor price adjustment and corrected. No job involving scraping and sanding plaster is 100% clean. So even after Mr. Ohana did his cleanup, and letting the paint dry thoroughly, we spent some time vacuuming and damp mopping floors, steps and banisters. From prior experience, we had expected this. That part of our cleanup was not as much as we had expected and went quickly. And it gave us a chance to see just how good his job was in detail. In summary, the entire job exceeded our expectations. We were quoted a price that was more than fair, had superior work done by skilled workers who always left the workspace clean, and completed the job on time. Frankly, the work done by the Mr. Painter crew was far better than expected. We would recommend Mr. Painter in a heartbeat. read more

Shlomi and his team did a great job painting my co-op unit. Like many co-op units in NY, mine was built a long time ago and had the wall damage to prove it. Shlomi quoted a fair price to smooth out and repair the walls, hardly increasing the price from his estimate of what it would cost if I just purchased painting services without any wall repairs. Furthermore, he was happy to accomodate my varied paint color choices (I wanted each room a different color, used different shades of white to pair with the colors I choose, and even had window frames repainted black). His painters were deliberate, allowing paint enough time to dry before adding additional coats, and were happy to accomodate adjustments and spots that needed extra care. When unsure of the way to approach a detail of the painting job, Adel (one of the painters) always asked before proceeding, saving us all time and ensuring things were done correctly from the start. Overall, I would definitely recommend Shlomi and his team's services. Thanks Mr. Painter! read more

I recently renovated my house and was looking for a professional painter to paint my entire home. Shlomi was recommended to me by a colleague who was very happy with the work he did on her apartment. Shlomi and his crew were extremely professional, courteous and paid lots of attention to details. My house looks exactly how I wanted it to be...warm and inviting (: Shlomi was a big help with the color matching prior to starting the job. He had great ideas and really helped me figure out what will work best. Shlomi and his crew arrived to do the job everyday, on time, until the job was completed. I couldn't believe how smooth everything went! The renovation of my house was very hectic and nerve recking. It was such a relief that the painting part of the renovation was easy and actually kind of fun (; I will definitely use their services again for my next project. I highly recommened them to anyone who is looking for a professional painter! Thanks again guys for an excellent job! ((: read more

I hired Mr. Painter for 2 rooms in my Manhattan apartment. I chose a wild hot pink for the rooms which is not your standard color lol. And in choosing this color means you can see EVERY mistake easier and it's easy to miss a spot upon a 2nd coat. Mr. Painter did an EXCELLENT job with my apartment and the color!! It looks FABULOUS! He was SO sweet on the phone, answered right away when I called for a quote. He is super accommodating and super funny too...! SOO nice! Didn't get a drop of paint anywhere, lines were beautiful, the coats were solid, and he was reasonably priced!! This kind of service is VERYYY hard to find in NYC and I would use him again for my next project. Also, he is super respectful of your space. Goes above and beyond to make sure that his tools were clean and organized and not touching anything I owned. Very conscientious of time and finished quicker than he said. 5 STARS!!! read more

I had Shlomi come out to provide an estimate to paint the interior of my 2 bedroom condo. I got other quotes, but his quote was reasonable and I felt comfortable reviewing the project and talking with him. I found him to be professional, courteous and knowledgeable. When the job began the team arrived on time each day and provided protection for all my furniture and flooring. The previous owner had a wooden book case and shelving attached the wall in the living/dining area. When it was pulled down the plaster wall was left with many puck holes and cracks. Shlomi and his team came in and patched all the cracks and holes in every room to a smooth finish then painted everything. The quality of the patching and painting work was excellent. I am very pleased with the work, and my condo looks great. I highly recommend Mr. Painter and his team. read more

Mr. Painter is the only one I will ever call from now on. I got quotes from four other painters, all too busy to hear what I really needed and all of them quoted me prices that were astronomical. I finally found the one honest, caring Painter in NYC and his prices were better than any other. They showed up early! They were good and lovely people, they finished in record time and were like artists. I have lived in NY for many years and I have never seen anyone paint so carefully, so beautifully and keep going till the job was done. They were thoughtful, intelligent, honest... AND they cared about doing a great job. (How often can you find that combination, with integrity these days! Just wanted to say "Thank You Mr. Painter and your wonderful crew. " You made my life so much easier, and that's nothing less than a miracle. read more

Helen T. from Woodside, Queens. I needed a fresh new look for a room I consider my den. I wanted the old popcorn ceiling gone and repairs made to the walls and a fresh coat of paint. I googled Painter and Mr. Painter came up. I called and left a message one morning and less than a 1/2 hr. later, Shlomi returned my call and even came by to see the room and gave me an estimate. He made me feel comfortable and he exhibited a high level of trust worthiness quickly. Well, here I am two weeks later and my room is done. I can't say enough about Shlomi and his employees, they were terrific and got the job done. I recommend Mr. Painter for the excellent work the business does, without any fuss and/or issues. Had my place painted this past weekend and I could not be more pleased! Everything from start to finish was flawless, communication and scheduling was easy. Shlomi was extremely professional from start to finish. He painted our two-bedroom condo in Manhattan over three days and did an incredible job. He worked seamlessly around our movers, which made a stressful process much easier. He was very upfront about costs, very reasonable, and there were no surprises at all. The quality of the work was excellent, everything was done with care, no damage anywhere, and the finish looks amazing. Shlomi and his employee were both great to work with, respectful, efficient, and detail-oriented. He also handled all the cleanup himself and left the place spotless. I would highly recommend Shlomi to anyone looking for a reliable and skilled painter. read more

I recently hired Mr. Painter to paint my bedroom due to ceiling and wall damage. Mr. Painter responded to my initial online inquiry promptly. He soon came to my apartment for reviewing damage and providing me with an estimate (a fair cost). On the day of painting, Mr. Painter and his worker arrived my home on time and prepared well with all essential equipment. The painting work went through as smooth and efficient as planned. The room eventually changed to a bright new one after Mr. Painter's magic hands and his paint. I am happy to have Mr. Painter to do the job for me. Shlomi and his team did an excellent job painting my new apartment. I found them on Yelp, sent a message and within an hour we were standing in my kitchen discussing an estimate. He showed me things he was going to do and fix that didn't occur to me. He was honest with me about paint brands and types and exactly what he was going to use. The team repaired cracks in the ceiling, patched holes in the walls and added grout in spots that needed in the kitchen and bathroom. They worked very near protecting the floors and not bringing any mess through the buildings hallways. I would suggest them to anyone I know looking to paint their home. read more

Shlomi and his team of ninja painters are the best. He came in for a free quote within a few hours after my first call and was able to complete the job in a tight timeframe between our closing and moving dates. His team was courteous, friendly and professional and left the place spotless. All in all an excellent experience, highly recommend and will use again for all our painting needs. read more

I hired Mr Painter and his team to come and paint my basement and bathroom. Mr Painter did such an amazing job not only with the painting but with patients as well. Shlomi and his painting crew did a beautiful job painting our apartment. I'm a bit of a worrier, and Shlomi calmed my anxiety when I couldn't be at the worksite. The workers were very respectful of the neighbors, the property, and the guidelines for working in a coop building. My phone calls and texts were always answered promptly, and Shlomi communicated with me, my husband, or our building superintendent with ease. I recommend Mr. Painter wholeheartedly! An absolute pleasure from start to finish. Price is more than fair, and the work is pristine. Schlomi is very quick to respond and is considerate and honest about the job at hand. Our place was is really rough shape after 20+ years of neglect, and he didn't bat an eye at the conditions--no judgment, no complaint about moving endless piles of stuff! Always on time, even left paint for touch-ups. His crew is fantastic. Could not be happier with the whole experience. read more

Mr. Painter (Shlomi) gave exceptional service. He and his helper Maria, were always on time, helpful and the workplace was kept neat and clean. They painted a 3BR, LR, DR, kitchen and hallway for half of what others were quoting me. Even after I added on some areas he accommodated me and updated the cost still below other quotes. He gave me great advice and my home looks beautiful. So thank you Shlomi. I would most definitely recommend Mr. Painter to anyone. read more
