Between the four of us, we shared two different types of liang pi: the more common spicy and sour version and a non-spicy sesame-based version. LIANG PI (SPICY) The spicy version is a classic, with the perfect amount of chili oil balancing the heat and sourness. The noodles were cold and refreshing, which was especially soothing on a hot August afternoon. LIANG PI (NON-SPICY) The non-spicy sesame liang pi was something I'd never had before. It had a fresh, nutty flavor that was incredibly savory. Most of our group actually preferred this one simply because it was so different from the usual liang pi. Both versions were generously topped with pieces of seitan and julienned cucumber. I'm normally not a fan of cucumbers, but they actually worked really here, making each bite even more refreshing. Both were incredible, each bringing its own bold flavors. If you're at New York Food Court wondering what to eat, definitely try the liang pi. The name, 涼皮王 aka "King of Liang Pi" would imply they're the best with their signature dish, the cold skin noodle that has been a staple dish in Shaanxi and the midwestern parts of China. The good news is that prices aren't high and they offer a lot of home style dishes. The bad news is the liang pi isn't going to wow people, as it's a tad bland. They offer an alternative, a fried liang pi (炒涼皮), which is eons better than the original. It's reminiscent of beef chow fun (乾炒牛河), but with an excess of bean sprouts and oil. They also have Chinese style burger (肉夾饃), which comes in the usual ground lamb but is surprisingly also available in beef. The rest of the pseudo-Sichuan menu features classics like the poached fish in hot oil (水煮魚), pork thread fried noodle (肉絲炒面), sour cabbage fish (酸菜魚), mapo tofu, and a fried rice that is listed as "skin rolling." Solid execution overall, but a pass for food court execution vs restaurant quality fare. Their biggest ticket item is one that most people don't even know is offered: big plate chicken (大盤雞), which is listed as "braised chicken with potato and green pepper." It's available in both small and large, which is really convenient, especially when the latter is all that is normally offered anywhere else. The other super popular item is their Chinese style crepe / pancake aka jianbing (煎餅), which when done properly is low-key one of the better snacks in the food court. They have made key additions for conservative Chinese cuisine enthusiasts, including general tso's chicken (listed as "General's Chicken") and sesame chicken. They're both slightly inferior to the dedicated Chinese-American joints but an option for the laowai palate. Customer service is not their strong suit and Mandarin will always be preferred. It is cash only and easy to miss with the non-English signage and being situated in a sea of stalls. Their menu is limited but has pictures, which is large part has been one of their biggest assets. I'm glad they've lasted as long as they have since consistency has always been the plight of Flushing-based food courts.

They had multiple parts of the duck - including gizzards, liver, blood, and actual meat. They also add in some bok choy, cilantro, and tofu, adding some lightness and texture to the soup. All parts of the duck were delicious - I personally don't enjoy the other parts of the duck as much, but could tell that this noodle soup was well made. The only complaint I have is that the noodles were a bit undercooked - they were too chewy and it was hard for me to eat. The other parts of the soup were amazing though. Overall, I would recommend to anyone who enjoys duck and soup for a good price. Also be advised this is cash only.

The steamed fish meat on and around the carp's head is luxurious (but please be mindful of a few small bones). They did a great job making the fish tender and flavorful. Wonderful dish! If you enjoy spicy, I also highly recommend the Scrambled Eggs w/ Hot Peppers. This dish has so much flavor, pairs very well with rice. Stir Fried Pork Liver w/ Scallions is not as spicy, but also quite tasty if you're into that irony flavor. Our least favorite dish was the Sautéed Cauliflower, which wasn't bad at all, just a bit under seasoned. Yet, we did appreciate the texture of the vegetable. The seating arrangement is much better and more spacious now post renovation, used to be elbow to elbow with whomever sat next to you. I ordered the house special stir fried noodles after some hesitation as I really am a fan of it served both ways. The noodles were bouncy in texture and were really good. Unfortunately I do not have a comparison as this is my first time eating Chinese hand pulled noodles. For me the flavors were well balanced and what can I say about portion size?
