Walked out of the restaurant. N for $25.00 a plate you think you could level the tables instead of using napkins. We've been here a few times , the menudo is good but service is horrible. We were told wait time was 25 minutes and ended being texted that our table was ready. Waited additional 20 minutes in the crowd. Waiting in the cold and rain, we had stopped by Starbucks and once we checked in we were told by the gal at the front that we couldn't bring our Starbucks cup in. So we had to throw away $6 coffee however, looking around there were other customers with their Starbucks coffee on the table. To make matters worst, they delayed our drinks until our food was delivered which was another 15 minutes. Final straw was when we had asked for some salsa we were told it was going to be additional charge . It was a tiny cup of salsa which at every other place are refilled with chips at no extra cost. The service is horrible, wait time is absurd, food is mediocre. Will be recommending other menudo spot moving forward. Not worth the hype. read more

We only come to this place because it's nearby. Otherwise, the quality of food has not been consistent. I came here yesterday and the menudo looked watered down. I also feel that their takeout system could use some improvement since I was informed that my name would be called while standing outside and after 40 MINUTES I decided to ask for my order and they had it ready and lied about calling my name when I was standing by the door the entire time. I recently moved to Downey and kept coming across this place, so I decided to try out their menudo, considering the name, I surely thought "this is their specialty". For someone who has a mother who cooks authentic Mexican food, you know I'll be expecting a lot from a menudo. My first experience did not disappoint, I went back a 2nd time but did not have menudo. The 3rd time was a failure, even for my boyfriend, who would typically not complain about food (but hates to send it back for fear that they will put something in it lol! ). Our menudo was stringy, too much meat not enough broth and it seemed like we got the left overs from the night before. Other than that, I have to say I was pretty satisfied with the other food I ordered. The portions are big enough to share and the customer service is a 10+. Wow. What a disappointment. I've seen this place online for a while and kudos to their marketing because it's even on my Tias TikTok which is why we went. Let's get to the food later let's address the big problem: THE WAIT. It was a Saturday and there was a line out, I was with my Mom and were told it would be about a 20 minute wait. I don't mind waiting at all but then I noticed people getting seated with the same amount of people getting seated before me who had arrived and put there name down after me. I noticed this once and then I noticed the sign on their door stating about the seating and how they prioritize parties...so I kinda knew this was an issue already. After about 2 other parties of 2 got seated I asked about my seat. We were told we would be seated soon but then it happened again. My mom went in and asked and once again told we would be seated. I have no idea why we waited even longer, I hate myself sometimes but honestly I was already there and waited so I tried to make the best of it. About 10 mins pass and now me and my mom are the only ones in the lobby and finally we're seated. Our server was great and we began with the food. And honestly I can't even talk about it because of how basic it was, the rice was the smallest portion in my Chilaquiles but the rice was delicious. My green sauce was pretty good not going to lie but you could tell the chips were fried in house. My mom's menudo was not hot in temperature so that was underwhelming but she enjoyed it. Overall it was a pretty bad visit and probably won't be back. The food wasn't even awful but on top of the wait and oh yeah why not free refills on chips and salsa? That's wild. read more

Went on Saturday morning, 25 minute wait, not too bad considering we have seen nothing but good reviews about this place. Service was good, food brought out fast. Menudo was stinky. Like they didn't clean it properly. Actually upset my husband's stomach. Now when you make menudo, you have to clean it really good and the meat was not cleaned. He smelled it as soon as it was set in front of him. I had chicken enchiladas that were dry and lacking any flavor. The servings of rice was OK, the beans were smeared on the plate to look like a whole serving but only 2 dipped chips were an actual serving. Love this place ! We stop here on our 4 hour drive toward home . New on menu is Goat Birria ! Outstanding ! Reminded me of my Dads cooking ... Sorry to say, I was waiting for this place to come and enjoy a delicious bowl of Menudo. I was very disappointed that the Menudo was not cleaned right. When I tasted it, it tasted dirty and smelled like feces. The tripe was not cleaned properly, The cleaning is a long process. People that like lemon and put it on the Menudo will bring out that smell more. That's just the Menudo. You don't have to be a Chef to know. You just have to how to cook. Service - The servers were great and attentive. But 1. They give you a false approximation of time. If they tell you 15 minutes it's about 35-45 minutes when they estimate a wait time. People were very patient but started getting upset due to the terrible approximation of time. When we were seated they brought our party all their dishes ordered but mine and then the disappointment. Then we asked for water it never arrived. Also, I was not done eating when the server not only picks up the empty plates but he's literally taking my plate where I'm still eating from. They have generous servings all around. The servers were friendly and attentive. The music was on point with the vibe of this small place. The moment it hit the table, the smell was overwhelmingly gamey, so bad that my husband asked them to take it away immediately. My experience was awful, I ordered a large Menudo with nerves no grains and a carne asada plate. I asked if they were spicy and was told no. I picked my food up and came home to 45 minutes away. Started eating and couldn't because it was so spicy hot that couldn't do it I washed the menudo and still couldn't eat it. The carne asada plate came with cactus and also chile. I called the restaurant and was told that if it's Mexican food then it is spicy. I had to throw more than $52. In the trash. No one helped me. I was very disappointed because I was looking forward on eating menudo. read more

She is the tall lady with long black hair who wears lots of makeup. She always rude with an attitude. Her behavior doesn't look good for the business. I been a customer when they first started in the City of Compton. I don't understand what's wrong with this lady. Seems like she feels to good to be working her own business. She needs to stay home or in the back. My family & I come often (party of 7). We really feel we should start leaving our money elsewhere. The owner (lady's husband) is totally the opposite.
