I feel insanely lucky to have Mr. Kiwi on the way home every day. The produce is consistently the best in the neighborhood for way less. I'm talking less than half the cost of the sad-sack produce at Food Dimension. The attitude is always so cheerful and friendly, it is a pleasure to shop here. This place is like an oasis in a desert of interchangeable, junk food peddling bodegas and delis. The first thing that catches your eye is the dazzling display of fresh produce spilling out onto the sidewalk. You can immediately tell that this is not your typical Bushwick joint. Open 24 hours a day, Mr. Kiwi's offers plenty of vegan, vegetarian, and generally healthy goods at fair prices as well as what must be one of the largest selections of craft beer in the area. A huge plus, in my book. Besides being well stocked with natural and organic foods at a reasonable price, Mr. Kiwi's is always very clean and offers exceptionally friendly service. Be aware that some of their common household products (cleaning, etc.) carry a slightly hefty price tag. I can say is that I love this place. It's so conveniently located right off of the train stop, i go in after work fill my backpack with produce and such, walk home make food-awesome! The prices are great and they constantly expand their choices and options. All you need to know is that if you buy strawberries, blueberries etc for a $1 just eat them within a day or two (not a prob here!). The juice bar is fantastic and much less expensive than most places. Non-produce items can get pricy, but i think of it as a "convenience charge" lol. I enjoyed popping into this market. It has everything that you would need from a regular grocery but with better quality, healthy products. I know some of the reviews spoke about how cheap a lot of their products are but unfortunately I will have to disagree with that. I'm pretty sure that this healthy bodega was built from under a rock, not conveniently under a subway stop. Are they unaware of the ridiculous price of organic, only a few subway stops away? Now that I'm a fully grown man and a husband and a father and a step-father to two more, summer just isn't exactly what it used to be. Kiwi's prominently-displayed juice menu is more extensive than the Dow Jones! -- I'm friggin serious -- and it's only the beginning! At Mr. Kiwi's, most customers choose to customize their own juices. Unlike Jamba Juice and many other Kiwi competitors, Mr. Kiwi's unique thirst-quenchers are combinations of fruits, vegetables, and sometimes even berries. That's three food groups -- beginnings sometime scratch their heads not knowing what all to choose -- but they shouldn't. Because every combination of fruit and vegetables, even if there are berries mixed in, manages to taste terrific. Mr. Kiwi's is also a grocery store, and on the whole its merchandise covers all major compartments of the food pyramid. Even sweets, if you're feeling fun! Oh, Mr. Kiwi's you are the brightest thing on Myrtle-Broadway. For two dollars I can get a fresh salad mix that has all different types of lettuce, radicchio and frisee. The beer selection is top notch. The sushi is always great. The ability to run and pick up half-and-half after returning back to Bushwick from an evening of drinking? Priceless. But, sometimes, going into Mr. Kiwi's can be like going into a bazaar -- they'll carry gourmet sauces, crackers, imported jellies under priced and the like one week and never get it back in again. mr kiwis rules! $3 fresh juice! kale, pineapple, ginger is my favorite combo but get whatever you like. last winter i was drinking a beet, garlic, ginger, lemon mixture that kept me healthy the whole season threw. 3-buck! kiwis is a little weird because there are some things they just don't carry, like meat (other than turkey bacon) so it's not really a grocery store. but at 4am, coming out of market hotel a box of newman's own mint oreos and a carton of organic grass feed milk is exactly what a person wants and it's a miracle it exists in Bushwick. read more

Mr. Kiwi is stealing from you. They charge you twice for certain items, overcharge for other items, and are known for such unethical business practices amongst my group of friends and acquaintances. The first time it happened to me, it was only a $2 mistake. Big deal. People make mistakes and I wasn't really bothered. The second time it happened, it was a $5.79 mistake. The clerk charged me twice for one jar of peanut butter. After that point, I started paying attention. Since then, (and not including the first 2) I've counted 7 "mistakes" and simply do not think that they are mistakes any longer. I've known some business owners who have told me of such practices being a common thing, and although a dollar here and there doesn't sound like much- imagine it multiplied by hundreds of sales every day. And it's not just one clerk, I've had 4 different ones pull the scam on me. Using a credit card? EVEN EASIER TO RIP YOU OFF. The total sum is the only thing you ever really look at right? Very, very easy to tag on a couple dollars to that $50 grocery bill. If you're only buying a few items, it's unlikely to happen. I've had it happen with as little as 4 items though. Today- when I was charged an extra $1 for a humus, I finally decided I would make some effort to try and make people aware. Hence, I am writing this review. It sucks because there isn't anything else around here like Mr. Kiwi. I'll continue being a patron, and I would simply advise anybody who shops here to do 2 things: 1. KEEP YOUR EYES GLUED TO THE REGISTER SCREEN. YOU CAN CATCH MISTAKES AS THEY HAPPEN. 2. ASK FOR A RECEIPT. THEY WILL NOT GIVE IT TO YOU UNLESS YOU ASK, PRESUMABLY BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT YOU TO SEE THE MISTAKES. Spend some time googl'ing "mr. kiwi rip off" and you'll see that I'm not the only one who's noticed. I don't get what everybody is talking about. This place is beyond overpriced, it often sells items at two to three times the market value. Something about this place gives out a homey vibe. Probably because of the asian staff or how the produce were arranged outside. I don't know what it is exactly but it felt good shopping there. I also liked that they have lots of asian stuff and antibiotic free meats (not a lot of varieties to choose from tho). Just some points to note, some of the goods didnt have prices so if you're comparing cheaper alternatives from other stores you might have a not so easy time doing that. as far as corner markets go, this one is great, albeit small. i spotted it a few weeks ago and finally made a stop to pick things up. the majority of the store (inside and out on the sidewalk) is filled with a limited but fresh variety of produce (lots organic) at fairly good prices. there were also some yummy juices and the standard soy milk options. in addition to the veggie selection (where i could not find spinach but there was lettuce, greens and bok choy) there were about two short rows of non-perishables like tea, canned veggies and cereal - which if you're in need right now, means this is a handy place to pick them up. the owner and the people that work there are super nice and helpful if you just ask. considering this place is right around the corner from me and the fruit i got there was sweet and juicy - i'll definitely become a regular. read more

Their beer selection can be a little inconsistent at time, I have gone there looking for Genesee Cream Ale (of Rochester fame) and found it sold out and not in stock for another few weeks. The Kiwi is my go-to. It saves me time and time again. It's a block away from my apartment so it couldn't be any more convenient. I am a glutard and they have tons of gluten free items (except bread...I'm always surprised they don't have Udi's)- pasta, crackers, chips. They also have plenty of organic items as well. I'm not sure why people complain about the prices here. I find them to be the same as Whole Foods for organic and specialty foods. As another reviewer stated, there's not much in the way of meat. They carry cured meats, cold cuts, and chicken sausage. This doesn't bother me as I don't cook much meat and space is obviously an issue in there. I love that they sell the six packs of organic eggs! Produce is super cheap and usually in good shape. They have a nice little selection of cheese too. They carry everything you could basically need in a neighborhood store with reasonable prices (WAY cheaper than Brooklyn Natural). My only complaint is that I really really wish they carried a handful of decent wines. They have two or three sad wines that scream headache. read more

This little market is a much needed addition to the hood. The gentlemen that work there are more than helpful and friendly. In the past few weeks there has been a surge of new products popping up on their shelves and almost all of them are either certified organic or higher end canned goods than you can find anywhere in the immediate area. The prices range from down right cheap to the more pricey. If you dig on the whole idea of being Eco friendly they carry a large array of green products. They also have quite a good selection of vegan and vegetarian stuff, you know soy and all that jazz. read more

I'm a regular at Mr Kiwi's, which has great organic produce and groceries and super friendly people behind the counter. The neighboring Food Bazaar is soul-crushing, with its bright lights, loud music, and long lines, so Mr Kiwi's is the way to go, even though sometimes it may be a bit more expensive than the bodega. That said, great deals on fresh produce are always available out the front. The freshly made juices are great (only $3 for a large cup -- and the friendly juicers frequently juice too much so you can get as much as half a cup extra!). Kiwi's has a good selection of ice cream (but no mochi icecream - please stock!), cheeses, hummus, yogurt, Emergen-Cs, juices, mac n cheese, canned soup, granola, beers, etc. And they have great, cheap snacks for on-the-run Bushwickers -- peanut brittle and fig bars for only $1! read more

Well it is the only real place in the neighborhood that sells fruits and vegetables. Most of their prices are pretty high and are only lowered when it is spoiling. I like that they have some Asian goods but they are also overpriced. I was overcharged a dollar but I think it was a mistake since their prices are consistently changing. Mr. Kiwi is open 24 hours, has cheap produce, good staples and fresh juices! They have a great selection of oils, sauces, asian food staples, and snacks. They even have pet foods! The staff is helpful and friendly, its clean and well lit. They are my favorite part of our neighborhood hands down. I just like going in to think of what to make for dinner. They do not have any real toiletries (a few items behind the counter) and the lines become really unmanageable at peak times. Another person mentioned rude customers and I've noticed that the lack of space to allow for a line makes people jostle aggressively.
