We take responsibility for not specifying our expectations more clearly, but when we requested a touch-up, he was unresponsive. We feel taken advantage of due to our lack of experience with this type of project. Lesson learned--never trust someone on Instagram who can't communicate properly. Next time, we'll just buy a $7 wood filler from Amazon and do it ourselves.

I've never really "hired" a handyman before Jim, but of all of the handymen I've ever dealt…read morewith--Jim is the most clean cut, extremely professional, reliable, and incredibly genuine. Jim's hourly rates are reasonable and he does not overcharge, even if he over/underestimates (especially if a quote is given over the phone without seeing the actual place that needs work done)--his fees are appropriate and completely reasonable. I've just moved into a studio apartment that required a much needed upgrade. I called a bunch of handyman services that I found on Yelp, and Jim was only 1 of 3 that got back to me on the same day. Since he was so friendly and patient with my request, I immediately scheduled an appointment with him. He confirmed our appointment the evening before, arrived on time, and promptly got to work after greeting me. He painted my kitchen, bathroom, and a wall in the living room...and my apartment now looks amazing! He also installed a new showerhead and changed my toilet seat in literally less than 5 minutes. Throughout the day, he was also very conversational and friendly. More importantly, I felt that I could trust him with my apartment and belongings, as I left for a couple of hours while he was still working. Hiring Jim was SO worth it (and I paid out of my own pocket since my landlord was not required to make all of the updates that I wanted to make)...I'm loving my apartment!

He set up the job and started working. 10 minutes in, he tells me he has the wrong part and that he needs to go get the correct part. This was frustrating since my ceiling was open when he gave me the quote. The short story here is that he is unable to get the part - he tells me that he will return on saturday at 9am. The next day: I text him to confirm saturday 9am on Thursday at the end of the day. He confirms. Saturday: He does not respond to texts or phone calls at all. He damaged a temporary fix I had in place by removing and partially reinstalling my toilet on wednesday, which meant that no one in my family could use that toilet again for several days. I'll never get that time back. Had i known that he was going to stand me up on saturday, I would have had another plumber come and do the work.
