While waiting for our food, I noticed remnants of past decor hanging from the surrounding walls and ceiling. Really? Overall, the food was just okay and the ambiance was below average. We were able to secure a booth near the side of the restaurant which didn't have any members of the team, which was large enough for the both of us. We then placed our order, which was the chicken kabob meal for my husband, and the butter chicken meal for myself. We then sat down, and waited about 10-12 minutes for the meal to arrive, which was perfect timing considering that there was a large team to serve while we were there. In the butter chicken meal, I was given a large container of butter chicken, along with pita bread, rice, and salad. I was impressed with how well everything tasted, as the chicken was tender, and the rice with the salad was abundant. I couldn't even eat all of the food, as there was too much of it! Overall, this place was definitely top-notch; excellent amount of food choices, great value, and nice service; would definitely come back if I am in the area again, and would highly-recommend to anyone that is looking for an authentic and delicious meal!

I know it's called the Kabab Shoppe but I've been craving butter chicken for a long time. I got that knowing I could mooch off everyone else for a bite of their kabab (I know I'm the worst). The sauce for this butter chicken was perfect. Flavourful without heat! Their naan is a little bit different than what you would get at most other places. The outside is fried a golden brown and the inside is very fluffy and almost reminds me of like a focaccia. I tried a bit of the Kabuli Palau which is a lamb shank over rice with carrots and raisins. This was really good and my definite go to the next time we order from here. My partner gave me a piece each of shish kabab and barg tikka and I'm a little ashamed to say that I couldn't really tell the difference. They were both decent though! A little Covid note as well, there is no indoor seating right now. There are plexiglass barriers separating the counter from guests.

I signed up for Tahini's rewards program a while back. I was pleasantly surprised to get a message in my inbox saying that I got fries to celebrate my birthday. I could come during the month of July to redeem them. A couple of Saturdays ago, I was in Pickering and wondered if it had a Tahini's. It sure did! I decided to redeem my birthday perk here and order dinner. There was plenty of parking in front of this eatery. I backed into a spot and walked in. There was a family in the corner chowing down. There was a person ahead of me, which was perfect. I could look at the menu to figure out what I wanted. I spotted shawarma ramen. You can get either chicken or halloumi. Cool! A nice man came over after he was done preparing food. I let him know that I had fries as part of my birthday perk to redeem. He nodded. It was my first time redeeming, so I needed his help to guide me through it. I got an e-mail. He said that my perk would have been loaded to my account and he simply needed to scan my rewards barcode. I pulled out my Tahini's app. He scanned my barcode. Done! I also ordered chicken shawarma ramen. I got it mild and for takeout. You can only order it at Tahini's and not ahead of time. I got my barcode scanned again to earn points. I then paid with a credit card. The transaction was smooth. I used the washroom. The single stall that I used was clean and nicely maintained. I sat down while I waited for my order. I can see myself dining in here. It had a relaxed feel. It didn't take too long for my order to be ready. I picked up my paper bag with my food and thanked the man. I then headed to my car, put my food in an insulated bag, and drove home. My food was still hot when I unpacked everything. It's nice that Pickering is next door to Markham, so the drive back decent. I got fries in a bag. It was my first time ever having fries from Tahini's. I liked that there was a light coating of batter. The fries were amazing. I didn't need to put ketchup or find dipping sauce. I loved them. This Tahini's gets full marks for customer service and fries. It's a bit of a gamble trying a fusion of shawarma and ramen. I will give top marks for creativity. I learned from this experience that it needs to be eaten immediately or I need to specify that the broth be in a separate container. The store did not separate the ramen from the broth. When I opened the container, there wasn't any broth. My guess is that the ramen got thirsty and drank the broth all up as I drove home. I essentially had cheesy ramen with no broth. Not horrible. Just weird for someone who was looking forward to a bowl of ramen with broth. The flavours were good. The chicken shawarma had a lot of flavour. The chicken morsels were tender. The ramen was cooked perfectly. I loved the green onions. It had moisture thanks to the ramen absorbing all the broth. I just wanted to have the broth in its natural soupy format. I don't normally have ramen with cheese. I know that it's a thing. I remember a former intern saying that I should have it with some cheese. I'm not a person who craves cheese on everything. It worked with this ramen, but I'd be fine without it. I got my ramen mild. It was indeed mild spice-wise. I may be daring next time and go with the spicy version. I feel the need to return and have the ramen again. I'd eat it at the restaurant or ask that I get the broth in a small container. I had a decent experience. I'll be back! (314)

When I entered the restaurant there some people dining in and others waiting for their orders. The chicken duo deal $16.99 is an online only deal. The cashier was trying to ring in my order but didn't realize it's an online offer. The food prep staff told me to order online. The online order process is pretty easy to use and you can customize your wrap and bowl. The Queen wrap comes with pickles, garlic sauce and pomegranate molasses. You have the option to choose your own toppings up to 3 choices. The Queen regular bowl has similar toppings and it's served on top of rice. The food was pretty good but I would say the chicken portions left more to be desired. The only downside here is that restaurant was understaffed and I waited about 30 minutes for my order. If the wait wasnt too long I would give them 4 stars.

I've made a mental note to drop by Shawarma Royale. I've been to its Scarborough location years ago. I needed a refresher. I drove around the building and parked fairly close to the entrance. I then walked in. This eatery is spacious. There are lots of places to sit down and enjoy your meal. The tables are generously spaced out. I headed over to the order area. There was a couple in front of me. I looked at the menu to see what I wanted. I saw chicken shawarma salad. Perfect! The woman taking my order was so sweet and nice. She asked me if I wanted any sauces. I went with tahini and garlic sauce. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was done. I got my receipt and joined others waiting for their food. I saw a man slice the chicken shawarma that would comprise my salad. I saw another man putting my salad together. Watching my food being prepared was wonderful. It also made me hungry. My order was ready. The woman asked me whether I was dining in or doing takeout. It was the latter. She put my container of happiness in a clear plastic bag, with a fork and napkins. I thanked her. What's special about this place is that all three staffers said thanks and hoped that I'd enjoy my food. i liked that nice touch. I put my food in an insulated bag and drove home. I then had dinner. The chicken shawarma on my salad was still warm. I loved my meal. The veggies were crisp. This place was generous with the pickles and pickled radishes. I loved how yummy the chicken shawarma was. Each slice was tender. The tahini and garlic sauce brought every ingredient together. I'd get this salad again. I should try a bowl, too. I had a great experience. I'd return for more when I'm in the area. (465)

Despite my reservations, I entered and walked into a tiny space that actually had seating for 6-8 diners. The really odd thing about this place, it has no windows! There was a very young fellow taking orders at the cash and two adults who I'm going to assume were his parents. I was the only guest at the time and I was looking over their menu on the wall above the counter, deciding what to order. None of them offered any suggestions and actually didn't say anything unless I asked a question, you know, like "What do you recommend?" Silence. No points for customer service. Noticing the two vertical rotisseries, I ordered the dinner plate to go, which included a choice of beef or chicken shawarma, rice, potatoes, and salad. I chose the large size for 11.99. The medium was 9.99. No price shown for small. It ended up being a lot of food crammed into a styrofoam box. And then he asked me if it was "for here or to go?" It was already in a takeout box! I had no desire to sit and eat in this tiny little closet. Anyway, there really was a lot of food stuffed into the box. The salad was delicious. I'm not sure what all the components were but it tasted really good. The fries had gotten a bit soggy but they were still okay. The rice was tasty and plentiful. I had gotten a combination of beef and chicken shawarma and both tasted good but the serving was a bit small compared to all the sides, making it not so great value for the price. But it did taste good. If the atmosphere and customer service were more inviting, I would probably go back but there are too many other places to consider.
