We used Mr Duct a couple of months ago to clean the air ducts and the dryer vent. The guys who came were professional. However, they finished the whole house within 1 hour. When we checked the dryer vent, there was still lint inside. The guys also didn't clean up afterwards, which took us an hour to do. Our relatives recently had another company do the same job at their house (same size as ours). For less price, they had 2 guys who did the job in 3hrs, which included clean up. We won't be using mr duct in the future. read more

Had a great experience with this company from making the start from making the appointment on the phone til the end.Very polite and professional. Then they sent me an email about the quote and details and then i called to confirm and mak my app. All smooth. I was able to get a next day app. The next day they called me to let me know the technicians were on their way and what there names were. Wish i remembered there names bc they did a great job. They also were very polite also and professional. They did a clean job and were very courteous. The service I received from Roberto, Luis and Natalie is the reason why my rating isn't one star. My air conditioner wasn't not working at all, I also need my air ducts and dryer vent cleaned out. In addition I needed a bird guard placed over the outside dryer vent as birds kept getting in. I called Mr. Duct on Tuesday and was able to get an appointment for Wednesday during the 1 to 3 window. I was told that someone would call me when the technician was 30 mins out. As promised I received the phone call shortly after 1 and Roberto and Luis arrived shortly after. When Roberto arrived he advised right away that the technician to repair the air conditioner was on his way. Roberto explained the process right from the start then he and Roberto and Luis immediately got to work cleaning my air ducts and dryer vent. They both were extremely polite and helpful and kept me informed every step of the way. I really appreciated the video cam view of the ducts before they were cleaned and after. Robert and Luis worked well together tag teaming the cleaning job. They finished cleaning the ducts, vents and placing the bird guard all before the air conditioner tech arrived. Roberto looked @ my air conditioner, identified what he thought the problem was and sent a message to the technician to so that the tech would have the correct part when he arrived. Unfortunately the air conditioner technician never arrived. The operator at Mr. Duct tried to keep me informed of the tech's where abouts, however a thunderstorm rolled through Wednesday night preventing any work from being done even if the tech was able to make to my home. The operator advised that she would call me first thing Thursday to set up a time for my air conditioner to be fixed. At this point, given the rain, I was completely understanding especially since the operator was going to work to get the matter taken care of first thing Thursday. When I didn't receive a call from Mr Duct by 11 am Thursday, I called them, Natalie was helpful, she was able to find my account right away, identify exactly what I needed and advised that a technician could be at my home between 2 and 5. I was a little aggravated because I had to call them yet I agreed since it was same day and sometimes things slip through the cracks. Unfortunately I had to call Mr. Duct back @ 5:15 because the technician had not arrived and I had not received a phone call. Again, Natalie answered and as soon as I gave her my name she remembered me, apologized and contacted the technician to find out what was going on. The technician once again, was at another job that would be at least another hour or so. Natalie offered to move things around and have him come out first thing Friday am. By now I'm done, the temperature in our house was 83+ degrees for at least 3 days straight, I could not risk yet another no show. I declined the attempted reschedule. Natalie was very understanding and voluntarily comped me the dryer vent cleaning and the bird guard install for my troubles. I'm not sure if Mr Duct was under staffed as far as air conditioner technicians are concerned or if this was simply a case of having more complicated jobs than anticipated. Regardless, I would have appreciated forthright proactive communication regarding their ability to service my air conditioner. read more

We have used Mr. Duct twice. You trust that they are doing what they are supposed to be doing. Friendly workers and hey, they even show you all the "crud" that was inside your duct work. (Right...) Our last service visit was when we moved into our new home back in 2013. I thought things went well, and I think the only complaint I had was that they didn't put screws back on some of the vents. Fast forward to April of this year. We had to get remediation done in our basement, which included replacing some of our duct work. Seems that they missed pretty much all of our return ducts and I was so disgusted. (And if they couldn't access it, they certainly didn't tell me this fact.) There is no way that all that would have accumulated in a few years. No way. Our HVAC guy said that it was decades of crud. If you do use this company, I highly suggest you ask them to use their cameras to show you that the ducts are clean. I think it would be worth your time. I didn't know better. So much for having NADCA certification. I feel duped. I have pictures of the all the crud from the ducts, but I can't figure out how to load them on yelp. read more

I called to schedule an air duct cleaning for our home this morning, and Tom was very professional, answered all of our questions over the phone, and offered for two technicians to come to our home within just a few hours of my phone call on the same day! Ivan and Steven (the two technicians) arrived promptly and were very professional and courteous. Ivan was also very informative and answered all my questions and concerns. They spent about 2.5 hours cleaning our air ducts (both supply and return vents + the furnace and trunk lines down in the basement). It cost $495 (including a $75 discount - internet special), so normally the cost is $570. I also appreciated all the good reviews on this business on the better business bureau website (www.bbb.org) and that they are NADCA-certified (national air duct cleaners association), as this industry does unfortunately have a lot of shady players out there. Now we're hoping that our allergy symptoms will go away... Fingers crossed! Only time will tell... Thank you! read more

On Christmas Eve day, our furnace broke. We had no heat for the holidays! My husband and some family tried everything they could think of before we called a professional. I searched yelp, called them at 10:30 am - they arrived at 12:30 pm and by 1:00 pm we were up and running again. The part price seemed reasonable $125. The cost for them coming out was $79 and that seemed reasonable too, just to troubleshoot. I am really happy with them. Friendly knowledgable guy. He even pointed out what would most likely be the problem in the future (a part was starting to go bad). He was In and out quickly. I would recommend and use them again. read more

I found Mr. Duct through a Yelp search after my furnace stopped working. Overall I was very happy. I actually rent out my townhouse so it's important to me that the companies I use are flexible in scheduling time with the tenants as I cannot easily be at the property. The scheduling through Mr. Duct was seamless and the appointment timing was prompt. With the winters in Chicago, the turnaround on a furnace issue needs to be as fast as possible and they definitely met the expectation of an immediate turnaround. As far as the actual repairs, I was pleased with what they found. Mr. Duct actually pointed out that a previous repair was done with the wrong ignitor part which caused the issue to happen again. The prices seemed reasonable compared to what I'd spent previously to fix the same issue and I feel much better now that I have the OEM part in the furnace (finicky Lennox). However, the thermostat was also not working and happened at the same time as the furnace going out. The tenant and I both agreed that this likely wasn't a coincidence so I wasn't worried about replacing the thermostat. At the end of the day, the thermostat worked just fine after replacing the ignitor in the furnace. The reason for taking away a star is because of the communication on the thermostat. While the rep from Mr. Duct took credit for pointing out the safety feature of the thermostat, I discovered that the actual technician was going to just replace it and charge me. Had it not been for the tenant suggesting the furnace fix first, I might have been charged to replace a working part. Overall though, the experience was pleasant and I would use them again. I was a customer for 5 years. Every year they did my furnace clean and check. They recommended that I ran the furnace for a few days prior to them coming out for the clean and check. This year it turned on but wasn't heating. Instead of the normal $99 clean and check fee they charged me $119 for a service call. They determined the issue to be with the igniter and charged me $195 to fix on top of the service call fee. 2 months later and it was doing the same thing. It would work intermittently. I had them come out again but since it was working they couldn't pinpoint the problem with certainty. They "suggested" I replace the gas valve for $482. After paying $314 and still having the same issue I refused to do so especially since they weren't even sure that it was the issue since it was working at the time. They still charged me another $119 service call and suggested that next time it starts acting up I "bang the gas valve with a wrench". A few days later and it was out again. Since I complained they came back out for "free" but wouldn't you know the damn thing was working again. This time they said they weren't getting a reading from a different part but that before I did anything I should have a chimney/roofing company come out and check the venting as maybe the pipe was frozen over...but they don't handle that. I lost confidence in them so I switched to a different company. If they service the furnace once and it breaks down again they shouldn't charge a fee to come back out. Some companies give you guarantees that if they perform the annual clean and check they won't charge you if they have to come back out to service it. read more

I want to send out kudos to Ignacio of this company. We have been having problems with our cooling this spring so far and no one had successfully isolated the problem. We did need freon and valves needed replacement and tightening, but the airflow through our ducts was still abysmal. Ignacio to the rescue! He fairly quickly isolated the problem and in no time at all had the coils cleaned and voila, the flow through our ducts is now wonderful and the house is a very comfortable temperature. I originally left a 5-star review after a positive experience with this company in cleaning out my air duct and installing two bird cages. The men who came out to do the work were wonderful. I am changing my review based on a very negative follow-up experience. One of the two bird cages fell off my siding after a year. I called to see if Mr. Duct would install a new one. I was even willing to pay for another cage, even though the first one clearly wasn't attached securely. I was told that not only did I have to pay for another $100 bird cage, but I also had to pay $300 to have my dryer duct cleaned before they would install it. I told the person on the phone that the vent was not attached to a dryer duct. It is actually just a vent to my attic with no duct behind it, and that everything had been cleaned the year before. The woman told me that didn't matter. and that I would still have to pay to have a dryer duct cleaned if I wanted another bird cage installed. I have never heard anything so ridiculous in my life! The work was not done correctly the first time, and now they want me to pay $400 to fix their mistake. read more

I have an old air conditioner, I was dreading having to replace. I used Mr Duct to have my ducts and dryer vents cleaned last winter and they did a great job so I called them again for the air conditioner. I have breathing problems and can't go without air conditioning, they came within 1 day and fixed it, when it went out again they sent a supervisor out the next day and he got it working. They never charged me for the service calls, and made sure it was working. The price was very reasonable and Cesar and Nick were professional and knowledgeable. They are always on time. If you have an old air conditioner this is the company you should call they won't automatically try to sell you a new air conditioner. read more
