23 years we've been coming here. Not anymore. Imagine paying for work and being ghosted as soon as they're done with the job. "Job's done, shop's closed. Pay the cashier at the service station. The end" Called twice. Zero answers. No willingness to ask the mechanic necessary break in procedures. Didn't return parts. Unbelievable. 4 different family members USED this shop. No clue what the problem is, but I'm not going to feel unsure about the work I paid from them going forward. I referred dozens of friends, neighbors and strangers to their shop for over 2 decades. I'm still reeling at how obnoxious this visit was. DID YOU DO THE BREAK IN PROCEDURE OR BLEED THE BRAKES?! WHAT IN THE FLYING F?! It feels like air in the lines based on breaking, so now I'll have to pay someone else to do it, which I don't have money for. Henderson, yall better not be behind me on the roads. read more

My boyfriend took his car here and needed some work done on the rear. He had requested to put in new control arms in the rear of his car. When they started work on the car they drilled out the wrong bushing that was being held to the main hub of the arm. Making him pay an extra charge for their mistake. To add on to this coming to find out almost a year later, the arm they had installed was welded in with the bolt, instead of properly securing it. I do not recommend coming to this shop, they do not tell you everything that's going on. Makes you pay extra for things you didn't ask for. And will up charge you a ridiculous amount for a part, compared to how much you would pay buying it on your own. We will not be taking his car here anymore. These guys are open 7 days a week! I have been taking my Subaru here for at least 9 years, so while they don't do major engine work, I have had them do quite a few things besides oil / transmission maint. They've replaced valve cover gaskets, Ignition Control Module, Tie Rods, Front Axel, Brake Caliper, EGR Valve, Wheel Bearings, Knock Sensor, and a Power Steering Pump. They have yet to give me a false diagnosis, and the repairs are done right the first time. This is a HUGE plus. Anyone who has ever set aside time to get repairs done only to have to return again when it is not convenient will understand this. I'm not saying they are lightning fast, they are not slow, but they do take the time to do the job right the first time. Communication has always been clear, and any issues were brought to my attention. Mr D's is not a bargain garage, they will not rake you over the coals and you won't get ripped off, but they are priced for the quality of work they deliver. I've mostly dealt with Ron over the years, but have gotten familiar with a few of the other mechanics. It is a sign of good management to see the same faces (they all seem very happy working there) for so many years. I don't always take my vehicle here, sometimes I feel the price is too high for what I want done, or I need heavier work done that they just don't do. (like the head gaskets on my Sub). I am happy with this. In the past I have had mechanics take on work they don't really want to do, and the results are not good. In one word, I would describe Mr. D's as honest. read more

My bi-annual visit for a smog check on one of two vehicles turned out to be divine intervention! So, last evening I drove my 2007 Cadillac DTS home from a repair shop across town. It was out of service for 8 weeks after an erroneous diagnosis given by the Cadillac service department for $240. Due to the credibility of the diagnosis by a certified Cadillac mechanic, I had it towed, stored, then towed again to another repair place. Meanwhile, the $8,040 estimate was disheartening because the vehicle wouldn't Blue Book for $7K. So, I found a salvage yard in Utah that sourced a low-mileage V-8 North Star engine and shipped it to the new repair place where they installed the recycled engine for a fraction of what Cadillac quoted. Thrilled to bring my beloved Cadi home after eight weeks of driving my work truck, I head to Mr. D's for a smog check prerequisite to the Cadi registration renewal. The service Technician requests for me to pull the car up two more feet into the service bay. It won't start! Fearful that the engine change out was faulty, I panic. Not to worry. Dead battery! In no time, Ron sources the right battery, gets it installed, and I'm on my way. The best part of this is WHERE it happened. Mr. D's is equipped to handle all my needs for my Cadillac and my F-150. Took my vehicle here for a Gas Pump replacement. Once the vehicle was on the lift they called and let me know the front tires had tread that was separating and the tread was bald on the inside of the tires. I confirmed and was shocked at the condition of the interior of the tires. They gave me great prices to replace all 4 tires and the Fuel pump replacement. Great honest mechanics and great work. We have always gotten our smog's done there and since we can no longer do our own wrenching on our vehicles, will use them for all our mechanic work. read more

Our truck broke down and we had it towed to these guys. Trying to over charge us for a radiator and everything else knowing we have very few options and are stranded. Trying to nickel and dime us for everything even a license plate light being out when all we care about was getting the important issues fixed so it would be running. I have been coming here for years for their $16.00 smog check. Today I was charged $25.99. I asked why and was told they can no longer charge $16.00, that he just paid $3,000 to renew his license. The current new price increase is shown on the smog machine itself only, inside the shop, not easily seen until he pointed to it. I told him never mind, I will go someplace else but he said since he had already typed my information into the machine he had to charge me. I kept quiet thinking if I made a fuss he would fail my car. If you search for them on google you will see the price of a smog test is listed at $16.00, not $25.99. I was told next time go someplace else if I could find a cheaper price. Very rude and poor attitude. Next time I will go someplace else. So much for customer satisfaction and respect for a frequent customer. read more

Roadtripping down from Washington, gf's car seized up outside of Las Vegas. In under an hour they got us our diagnosis. Unfortunately, some bearings in the engine had blown and there was metal flakes in the oil. The engine was totaled, as was the car. Auto specialists was very helpful, even offering to take the car off our hands and even gave us a couple options of cars to buy in the lot. Ending up deciding on scrapping the car for $ and buying a car online but auto specialists let us keep the car in their lot for the 4+hours it took for the scrap yard truck to come. I came in for a smog today but I have had my oil changed here along with smog repairs. I find the mechanics helpful and the repair prices reasonable. They don't pressure me to replace thimgs I don't need. I've even purchased propane here. It is a good all around service center and I recommend trying them. read more

New Smog Check pricing is $25.95 - quite an increase from $16. The new price is not posted in an easy to see location. When I ask about the increase, I was told, "Go find a better price" Which I did. It was easy to beat $25.95 . read more

I used to get my service done here until I was given cheap faulty parts. I had the two front axles replaced on my F-150 and within two years and only 3,500 miles the boots tore and fell apart. A year and a half later the same thing happened. They said that they had purchased the new axles from NAPA down the street. But when I spoke to NAPA's manager he told me that was not true. I got new ones installed by Big O Tires down the street with NAPA parts they warrantied them and the installation. Haven't had any issues and that was over a year ago. To premature cracking or damage like the ones from Mr. D's. Who knows what cheap garbage parts they are putting on out there. read more

Very disappointed, my family has been going here for years. Went in a few weeks ago with our Jeep and they said needed a new engine. Very expensive and took over two weeks to finish. Told us would be done on a certain day for then to call and say something else was wrong. In less then 24 hours the repair cost went up another $1000. Paid $5700 to have to take back the next day because still wasn't running right. Now today the check gauges light is on. Will never use them again. read more

Never again will I bring my vehicle to them for repairs I was sold faulty parts that they purchased from autozone and charged me three times the amount if I had purchased it my self. The person that repaired my vehicle seemed to have no clue on what he was doing and looked like a tweaker. The business changed service price quoted for an oil change after placing vehicle on oil change rack. I phoned Mr. D's at about 11:00 am on 12/21/18. I asked if they performed oil changes for customers that brought their own oil and filter. I was told they did. I told them I had a 2015 F250 diesel pickup. They said it would cost $22.95. I asked how long the wait was and was told approx. 30 min. I arrived at the business 10 min later and talked to the person I had called on the phone. I believe his name is Dave. He wrote down the information about my truck and took my keys. He said they had a vehicle on the rack in front of me. I waited aprox. 40 mins and was then approached by an older employee. He told me he had my pick up on the rack but he noticed it was a diesel engine. He said the cost was $59.95. I told him that was not what I was told and I told him I was quoted $22.95. He said that he did not quote the order that it must have been "Dave". I told him I was not paying almost $60 dollars and I was supplying my own oil. He said the "book" said it was a 1.8 hour estimate for an oil change. He emphasized that the truck was already on the rack. I told him get my truck off the rack and out of his shop. Dave was no where to be found. I was quite agitated and very pointedly told them they were using deceptive business practices and that they were liars. I did not mince any words. I explained to the person on the phone what type, year, engine I had when I called. I explained what type, engine and where oil and filter I had were located in the truck when "Dave" wrote up the work order. This business deliberately tried to change the price charging double what was quoted. Also, please note, I drove about a mile north on Boulder Highway to national auto service and they changed the oil for $25 read more

My car needed a new battery and oil change. The man that runs the counter told me that it could also be the starter and he would call me and let me know. After about an hour he called me and said that it was the battery and the total with labor would be $293.00. I told him that I can't do it. He said that he would give me a special discount and drop it to $240.00. Again I said that I can't do it. I came back to the place and I asked to get into my glove compartment to grab the VIP card I had purchased during a previous transaction. The VIP card had a free oil change available. When I looked inside the glove compartment I could not find it. Earlier, before I gave my car to them I had checked the card to ensure that the free oil change was on there. I then placed the card on top of the dashboard so they could see it. I told the guy that I was certain it was there. His response was that I should purchase a new one for $39.99. I declined and told him to just charge me for the oil change. He then said that it would be cheaper because he had to charge me $59.99 for the AVR check. I wasn't sure what he was talking about but he rang it up and said with the VIP card purchase it will be $64.84 instead of $96.28. I reluctantly agreed. Later I drove to Autozone, purchased a battery for $109.00 and installed on my own. I had no idea installing a battery was so simple. I have lost all trust in this place and will never return. read more
