After visiting Queen's University, I wanted to grab an early dinner. I read online that Kingston…read moreis known for it's poutine, and Bubba's was frequently mentioned, so I have it a try. The first think I noticed were the wall murals of Don Cherry, Doug Gilmour and the Tragically Hip. Otherwise, it looks like any other takeout joint. We were the only customers in the place, and the one person working was busy preparing orders placed online. He happily greeted us and asked if we knew what we wanted, but we hadn't yet. We eventually decided on combo #2 which the cheeseburger and poutine. The poutine was ready first, and it was - average. I was expecting something more, but it honestly wasn't any better than what I could get from a NY Fries (actually I like the fries at NY fries better). On the other hand the cheeseburger was pretty good. I only read after that the King St location might be better. I guess I'll try that location next time, if I'm in Kingston, but I'll keep my expectations in check.

When it came time to pay, with a huge grin, he said" this is on me after the day you've had" What a kind and generous thing to do and we are beyond grateful. It's heart-warming to know such things happen nowadays. The poutine was amazing. Thank you! we'll be back!

My cousin recommended this place on the way over to Montreal and boy did he lick a winner. From the outside you can see that the store specialty is smoked meat. The Restaurant is well put together well lit and clean, you can tell that the owner is in and maintains a very classic appearance. Shout out to my new friend and owner Dimitri and Mason at the counter! The smoke meat was perfectly spiced, warm temperature and the bread was fresh, soft and crusty around the edges. The Classic '57 Poutine is just the right amount of gravy and cheese on top of fresh hand cut fries ! A real hard to beat and must for Kingston ! You will see this Floridian again! !

I stopped at The Back Kitchen for lunch after bicycling Amherst Island. It is the only restaurant…read moreon the island. While the menu is fairly simple, it is a charming establishment. It is owned by the community of islanders themselves and operates as a nonprofit restaurant. The employees are volunteers. I had a burger which was well made and was generous in portion. Coleslaw can vary quite a bit, but I really enjoyed theirs. Their prices are quite reasonable. They apparently have dinner specials each night and also serve as an ice cream stand. If I ever find myself on Amherst Island again I'll definitely be back.

Previous visits in the summer and fall of 2025 left a large amount of the car unclean, like it had…read morenot even seen a brush or water. When this fact was presented to the "gentleman" taking the money he became hostile saying that you can not expect a clean car for the basic car wash proceedure. I insisted this was the wrong attitude to present and the car wash should provide a complete outside wash for that kind of money. I will try once more to see what the wash is like and to make sure the WHOLE car top to bottom outside gets clean and dry. If not, I will NOT be back and will advertise to my associates who visit there to make sure they get decent basic wash job, on the complete outside of the car. My rating based on attitude of the contact person and previous jobs is a D-MINUS

Spent a nice day exploring Kingston. Had a craving for something hardy…read more We came across Hardy's on their high street (Princess St). Menu looked interesting so we parked our butts here. Inside had a relaxed welcoming Egg dinner vibe. We had the classic and umami burgers with the nut salad replacing the standard fries. Patties were a generous 6 oz. Burger was very flavourful. The umami was stuffed with lots of different ingredients. (Too many for me to remember off hand). Both were delicious. The health nut salad was delicious too. Nice change over from the usual deep fried sides. Our server (Chloe) and service were both excellent and attentive. We left very full and satisfied.

Service was pretty attentive and our waitress was phenomenal and really upbeat and sweet. They were on it with the refills too. I really thought the kids would love their food, but they just picked at it during the dinner. What kid says no to waffle fries and a hot dog? Apparently the hot dog looked to juicy? lol. My french fry loving son, had no issues with his fries but skipped the chicken nuggets. My poor husband had to polish off whatever was not eaten by our kids after he ate his burger and poutine. I had the plantbased burger and I had no complaints. I will say their pickles are really great on the burger and loved their house sauce that came on it as well. Their fries are on the meatier side and I only ate a couple and passed the rest on to the kids, since the burger was pretty filling on its own. They had toy story playing on the tv in the restaurant. Super cute. It was pretty pricey coming to around $100 after everything was paid out. I'd probably come back for some apps and small bites in the future when visiting in town.
