We seriously cannot say enough good things about Mr. Build so this is going to be a long review... We did a complete upstairs remodel and Michelle was our project manager. Her attention to detail, impeccable taste, and professionalism is really phenomenal. On top of that, she's such a great problem solver. When I wasn't happy with our options for the layout of our bathroom she asked me a few questions, worked with our architect and came up with a design that I loved. She also knew when I wasn't happy with something without me having to even say it to her and she'd come up with a solution for us. Like when I was disappointed that I couldn't get my recessed mirror in and she saw that I was disappointed so she worked it out and I got my beautiful recessed mirror in =) Whenever we couldn't agree on on something, Michelle was always able to offer really good advice while keeping in mind what our needs and wants were. My experience with working with Michelle is like working with your best friend who just gets you, but is so professional she never made you feel uncomfortable or uneasy asking for anything! Joaquin was our foreman/construction manager and he is so thorough and thoughtful about his work. I always felt really confident that if Joaquin was doing something it'll be perfect and it always was. For example, our wood floor and stair trim wasn't leveled (it was never leveled and it ALWAYS bothered me) so I wasn't expecting it to get perfectly leveled I was just hoped it would be better than what it was BUT, of course, Joaquin was able to get it exactly leveled to each other! It's just makes me soooo happy to walk by it and see it everyday! Honestly, just about everyone Mr Build brought on to work on our house was great... On top of it it all, they truly were always honest with us sometimes even to their own detriment and went above and beyond with everything they did for us. There were so many fixes here and there that they just did for us without change orders. I don't think any construction project can be perfect because there are so many things that you just can't anticipate, but Mr. Build really worked with us and was so mindful of our budget that it really felt like it was as good as it can get. They always seem to have my best interest in mind and always wanted to make sure we were happy! Needless to say Mr. Build will be doing all of our future home renovations (and probably all of our friends' and families' as well haha) and we look forward to it! read more

Mr Build Construction - a bathtub in a bathroom - General Contractors Near Me - North Hollywood, California

We were referred to Mr Build Construction by our interior designer for a master bathroom/walk-in closet remodel. We completed a whole house remodel 3 years prior. We ended up being unhappy with the master bathroom due to a combination of the poor workmanship of our previous contractors and the layout our architect produced. We met with Ami from Mr Build Construction and immediately became a fan of his professionalism and personality. He was very thorough during our initial walk through and got back to us with a quote within a speedy time frame. The costs were comparable to other contractors in the area so we decided to go with Mr Build based on Ami. We were very happy with Mr Build and Ami's work throughout the whole process. They left the master bedroom clean after each workday.....even having a "clean-up" sign in sheet each day to ensure the workspace was left clean. At one point our interior designer wasn't happy with the spacing of the tiles being laid so Ami had his guys remove everything and start over at no additional cost. He is a perfectionist and just wanted us to have a exceptional product at the end....and we are very happy with that end product. I would for 100% use Mr Build and Ami again for a future project. Thanks Ami! read more

We hired Mr Build to assist us in remodeling our master bathroom and replace flooring throughout the house, along with sanding down and staining ceiling beams in our family room. They were professional, clean, and very honest in regards to pricing. Ami was always available and stopped by often to check on the work progress. We have done numerous remodels and this was our first time using Mr Build. We won't use anyone else again. They are the best. Their tile work is amazing and their sense of urgency is one that you don't find to often with contractors. We highly recommend them. read more

2 weeks ago I had a problem with my water heater, which is under warranty. The warranty providers set me up with Mr. Build to do the repair, and sent me the replacement part overnight via FedEx. Around 9am the morning of the part's expected arrival, Vanessa from Mr. Build called me to set up the appointment for 1:30pm. The ETA by FedEx was 10:30, so everything made sense. Carlos from Mr. Build came by on time, switched the part out quickly, and I had hot water again. Then today I had a different problem with the water heater, which was also under warranty. This time I got set up with "Normco Appliance Service", which were curt and didn't really want to help. I asked the warranty provider to switch me back to Mr. Build. They said it would take another business day, but after speaking directly with Vanessa, she sent Carlos the same day, not even 2 hours after we got off the phone! Carlos came by 15 minutes earlier than expected, quickly switched out the malfunctioning part, then showed me other things that could cause problems with the water heater in the future, and just now I took a hot shower again! Thanks Vanessa, Carlos, and Mr. Build. You rock! read more

Cannot speak highly enough about Mr. Build. We have used them for two different projects, which in itself says something. We were so impressed with the first project that we hired them again. From the initial consultation to the final clean up, everything was seamless, efficient, and pleasant. From the top down, there is not one person that we had to deal with that was not outstanding. Love this company and have recommended them to others. read more

We give Mr. Build and Ami the highest mark possible and can't praise him (and thank him) enough for work he and his team did on our massive remodel. After meeting with Ami for the first time, we knew he was the right person to take care of our new home, and it turns out that this was the most important decision we made with the remodel. If you are shopping for a contractor, just meet with Ami and you will see what kind of person he is and the values he upholds. Scope of work: We basically remodeled the entire house: kitchen, bathrooms, fireplace, flooring, moved/removed walls, windows, installed California doors, moved the laundry room upstairs, and built a new powder room. Here are some key behaviors that we appreciated * He put our family's need first. We did this remodel while living in the house!!! He assure that we were as comfortable as reasonably possible during the remodel. One night, I caused a leak in the plumbing b/c of clogged pipe. We called him late at night for help. He put us in a hotel and he immediately address the issue in the morning. * He made sure that we were satisfy with the quality of work and it's what we wanted. But more importantly, he made sure that HE himself was satisfied. His standard was much higher than ours. * He was very collaborative through the process and very responsive in communication. He made practical recommendations, saving us lots of money. * Good contractors also have a network of good subcontractors: sliding door team and the glass team to name a few. Very pleasant people to work with. Good price. Good quality. People I would definitely use again. He treats his worker very well. They have team BBQ at least twice a year. He and his team do volunteer work on a regular basis. He helps us donate our fridge and furniture. * He took care of business dealing with the city and HOA. The city particularly gave us a hard time, but he muscled through the painful process. We wanted to build our forever home and this was achieved in a very pleasant process with Ami and his team. At the end of all this, we consider Ami as a friend of the family. read more

Mr Build undertook a major remodel of our home, adding square footage on both levels, adding new bathrooms, a new laundry room, remodeling the kitchen and the existing house etc. Ami and his team were exemplary in their professionalism. Super easy to work with, very kind, very ethical - I am so grateful we found them. They made the process smooth and pleasant and went out of their way to make our home beautiful and functional. The quality of their work is impeccable. Ami had the team redo a couple of things because he was not happy with the quality, even though I thought it was just fine! He was patient and accommodating when I took forever to make choices, or changed my mind on things. Of all the remodels we have done, this one was the easiest / least stressful, and we are happiest with the results. Mr Build will be my partner of choice for all future home remodeling projects many thanks! read more

Best project we have done in our 40+ years as a homeowner. Michelle was our project manager and handled everything with care and professionalism. Joaquim was our construction manager and was very thorough with great attention to detail. Together they completed the project in less time than we were given and did a beautiful job. They went above and beyond with small issues corrected without change orders, costs and without being brought to their attention. We highly recommend Mr. Build. read more

We met with Ami from Mr. Build regarding our whole house remodel. Ami was wonderful! We felt confident and comfortable that our house would be completed properly and with care. We were going to be living in the house throughout the remodel and I would be home during the whole process. Ami, Jacob, Pete and their entire crew were so professional and respectful, I was completely at ease. The quality of their work is impressive. Ami's subcontractors specialize and are experts in their crafts. I had lots of questions and everyone answered them with knowledge and patience. There was a crew at the house everyday and always on time. They were very clean, the work area was cleaned at the end of each day. I was prepared to be stressed with unforeseen problems and with living in the house during the remodel but Ami and his team made the process so smooth, pleasant and stress free. Ami was always there to make sure our needs and expectations were being met. His professionalism, honesty and integrity were refreshing. My home is beautiful! The quality of their work is impeccable. I couldn't be happier with with the results of their dedication and pride in their work. read more

Mr. Build did an addition to our house, which included a second master bedroom with bath. We enjoyed having them around, especially Pepe and Ami. Everything was completed to our satisfaction. Things that required fixing or redoing were done at no extra cost to us including materials. We are very happy with the end result and with the fact that the final cost was exactly the same as the proposal with no additions for surprise changes or extra work that we requested. read more

Mr. Build Construction and Amiti as the project lead were hired for our second story addition project and did a fantastic job! From the very beginning his honest personality and his will to work with us and guide us thru the process with unlimited patience stood out among all bidders. After thoroughly checking Amiti's references we started the project. We were very nervous after hearing so many horrible experience stories on construction contractors and after the fact we can confidently say that it couldn't be any better! - don't get me wrong, it was very stressful time as our budget was very limited and most of the time construction has unexpected expenses driven mostly by personal preference finishes. Amiti went far and beyond our expectations and always provided us with alternatives that fit our needs. We are very happy with the quality and satisfied with the results - we recommend anyone that considering construction to consult with Amiti. We already referenced Amiti to couple of friends that ended up doing business with him and they were very satisfied as well. read more

I found Mr. Build via HomeAdvisor. I requested an in person estimate. Today they called me to ask exactly what I want to do: new cabinets and counters in my kitchen. The lady said that starts at $10,000. I said that doesn't work for me because I have an EXTREMELY small kitchen, a 7 ft long galley kitchen. Shouldn't an actual estimate be based off what I want to do? I guess this job was too small for them so they canceled my appointment. read more

Ami was wonderful to work with! He did a great job on our house, was responsive, and has great guys working for him. I was so impressed by how clean they managed to leave the house each afternoon afternoon. I also appreciated how thoroughly they covered chandeliers and furniture to manage the dust. We loved having Ami around and would highly recommend him to others and look forward to working with him again! read more

We took several bids for our kitchen remodel, which included opening kitchen to include our family room, and also reconfiguring our downstairs powder room. Ami came from Mr Build to review the plans drawn up by our interior designer and placed a very competitive bid. Ami also explained that his bid would be "final" - he would not add more charges if there were some issues along the way (if he ran into a rotted beam that needed to be replaced or something like the usual plot twists on house remodeling TV shows). Based on references, we chose to go with Mr Build. We have used other contractors for previous projects, and Mr Build was the best experience we have had. When we encountered a few unexpected issues, Ami resolved them to our satisfaction, as well as for our designer and the city inspectors. And true to his word, there were no additional charges to resolve a couple unforeseen issues. Ami has several crews - plumbers, electricians, cabinet installers, dry wallers, etc. - and was able to schedule the work to minimize delays or stalls in the process. All the crews were polite, careful, and performed quality work. We are very happy with our new grand kitchen and powder room, and when we tackle anything in the future, we will hire Mr Build again. We will recommend Ami and Mr Build to any friends in the future, as well. read more

These guys rock! Our interior design company has worked with Mr Build on over 30 projects this year alone. From kitchen remodels, bathroom remodels and room additions, they've done it all for us, each time delivering amazing work. Ami's crew is professional, always on time and most importantly, the quality of work they do is second to none. In the construction world, there's always unexpected surprises. But that's where Mr Build truly stands out -- Ami is always there to make sure any issues or needs are taken care of promptly and professionally. His honesty and integrity is what keeps our clients happy, which in turn makes our job so much easier. So if you're looking for the best Orange County home builder and general contractor company, go with Mr Build. You won't regret it, I promise. read more

My wife and I decided to remodel our single story house in west LA, and received 3 bids from contractors. Some of these were through our own connections and some were through the architect. Asaf (Jacob) from Mr Build's company, was very responsive and provided us with the most reasonable price for the remodel, so we naturally went with him. The job on a 5 bedroom house with a second story addition was not small and as with any similar project, it required a continuous observation from both myself and my wife, to ensure that things were done right at each step. As often happens, a number of things had to be done more than once until they were done right, but we have not had an instance where the contractor and we were in serious disagreement. Overall, I give 4.5 out of 5 stars to Mr Build. 5 out of 5 stars, for being honest, polite and responsive to virtually all our requests and for being prompt in all appointments and 4 stars for the quality of the work, that at times could have been better. That would have made the process easier for all of us. Also, it is important to note that the sizeable job was done almost on the scheduled time (there are always delays that can be due to extraneous factors), and we have living in and enjoying our new house for 6 months now with no unpleasant surprises. While many of the details of the project are slowly fading away, perhaps the most important recommendation would be the answer to the question: If I were to start again from the beginning, would I ask Mr Build to take the contract? The answer is a positive yes response, especially now that I have learned a number of the tricks of the trade. read more

UPDATE - After posting a Yelp review, we were contact by Mr. Build. They said that there had been an extenuating circumstance that had prevented them from providing the quote and said they would send one over. It took four more days later, but we received a quote. The quote felt like perfunctory - there were no line items included, just a solid, round number, which was significantly higher than our other three quotes. Instead of quote that didn't feel genuine, I would have just preferred an email that said our project wasn't a good fit. read more

After dealing with a difficult contractor, we decided to look for another. Ami and his team came highly recommended and we couldn't be happier. Our kitchen, floors and fireplace look amazing! Their attention to detail is incredible. His crew was very polite and always arrived on time. Ami was available for all questions and always took the time to make sure everything surpassed our expectations. We didn't go over budget and the results are beautiful. They were respectful of our home, patient with our dogs, and tried to minimize all inconveniences that come along with a remodel. Thank you Ami, Mikhaila and crew! read more

This is the second time we have hired Mr. Build and worked with Ami. They redid two master bathroom and both turned out great. Just like in the first renovation, their work is top quality. It's the peace of mind they give us which is why I will keep hiring them for our needs. They show up when they say they will. They keep us informed. They come back to finish the little things until we are completely satisfied. They work through unforeseen issues and help problem solve - on that topic, we purchased a tub for one of the bathrooms and it required pipes positioned in a manner that couldn't work with the joists. Ami proposed a number of ideas with us to make sure we could come up with a great alternative solution. He even came with us to the store we bought the tub to explain the issues to see if we could return it. I consider this above and beyond what I would normally expect. read more

I used Mr Build 5 years ago and was very happy so I commissioned them again for another remodel on my home. I am very happy with their workmanship, timeliness, and communication on the project. Called Mr. Build to make an appointment. They sent over a sales person by the name of Berry. Once I decided to go with him. I believe there is some kind of a scam going on and I was certainly scammed. Stay away. read more

It has been two years since March of 2017, when Mr. Build (Ami Gilad) finished a 6 month remodel of our home. Recently I noticed a small leak from the stand alone bathtub and called Ami. He had someone out there the next morning and the problem was resolved; he wouldn't accept any payment. Anyone who has ever had work done on their home knows that it always takes longer and that problems arise. Expecting anything else is unrealistic. What does matter is the integrity of the company. I was promised no cost overrides and there were none. In our final accounting Ami was extremely fair in settling up on costs we had incurred ourselves to correct some mistakes. We love our new space and I guess that's the bottom line. One of the things my husband is very happy about is that Ami changed the plans, to give him (my husband), the conical roof over the breakfast nook tower that he wanted. I am pleased that Ami corrected the plans to keep the archway from the entry to the rear of the house unchanged, taking the needed inches from a pantry. I shudder to think of what narrowing that arch would have done to the ambiance of the room. read more

I recently completed two bathroom remodels using Mr. Build Construction and I am very pleased with the finished product. My bathrooms came out fantastic! We did an extensive home remodel and addition with Mr. Build. While they were not the lowest bid we got, we had the peace of mind of knowing we would not be nickel and dimed for change requests along the way. Jacob was reasonable and easy to work with, and though parts of project took longer to complete than any of us expected, we are extremely happy with the results. Having worked with other contractors in the past, I know how hard it is to find a reliable and trustworthy team, and therefore highly recommend Jacob and Mr. Build read more

I recently hired Mr.Build to remodel a bathroom. The bid was very competitive and Ami reviewed the scope of work in detail prior to drawing up the contract which put my mind at ease right from the beginning. I also really appreciated the excellent suggestions he made on how to maximize the space in the bathroom. The crew was professional and courteous and treated my home with care. Any unexpected issues were addressed quickly with no additional cost to me. The project was completed in a timely manner and I'm thrilled with the results! We just finished our master bathroom remodel and we could not be happier with the results or Ami and his crew. We took bids for over a year and could not seem to find a contractor that we clicked with. We felt so comfortable when we met Ami. He understood what we wanted and was very clear with the pricing, timing and expectations. His crew was always on time, professional, kind and clean which was very important to me as we had to live her during the process. Ami was true to his word and there were absolutely no hidden costs. My 90 year old aunt had this company remodel her kitchen and bath 6 years ago. She didn't seem excited about the remodel when we came to visit after it was completed. We found some flaws in the kitchen cabinets used by Mr Build. Her new microwave worked for the first year and then stopped working. She didn't want to bother Mr Build after the construction project was completed so never did "complain" to them. This past summer my aunt passed away. I called Mr Build to come and fix the electrical outlet problems by the microwave. They refused to come and look because it was beyond normal warranty period. Another "customer focused" electrician come in and he fixed it. He noted that a shortcut was taken by Mr Build in the outlet by the microwave, and there were others taken as well, in doing the electrical work as part of the remodel. We hired Mr. Build to remodel our bathroom. Ami from Mr. Build is OK, but his project manager Johnny is useless. Ami only showed up to give us a bid, and we never saw him again. Johnny then took over and only showed up to collect our payments. He never checked the quality of the work. Johnny let his contractors build crooked walls, install outlets in the wrong place, install outlets without any power to them, dump construction debris in the crawl space, dump construction debris in the common areas, lay dirty drop cloths on the carpet, run electrical wires that drooped on the ground in the crawl space, install a heater on a shared circuit which kept blowing (should have been on a dedicated circuit), improperly assemble the toilet, improperly caulk the toilet, improperly install the clean-out and leave paint marks on the brand-new vanity.
