I recently had an extremely disappointing experience with Mr. Appliance in Chesterfield, MO -- a Neighborly company (I guess not so much). We originally called them for a warranty repair. A technician came out and completed the work, but within five days the issue resurfaced -- clearly related to the original repair. When I contacted the office expecting basic follow-up service under the warranty, I was instead met with resistance and unnecessary defensiveness. The customer service representative, Debbie, was shockingly rude and unhelpful. Rather than listening or acknowledging that this was a warranty call tied to work they had just completed, she repeatedly focused on warning me about potential trip fees if the issue was somehow "my fault." This was completely inappropriate given that the problem returned almost immediately after their service. The tone was dismissive and confrontational instead of solution-oriented. For a company that promotes itself under the Neighborly brand, this experience was anything but neighborly. At no point did I feel like they stood behind their work. Instead of owning the situation and scheduling a prompt follow-up, the conversation felt like an attempt to pre-emptively shift blame and protect billing. Because of the incompetence in resolving the issue and the unacceptable level of customer service, I chose to fire Mr. Appliance and take my business elsewhere. Don S. came out to service our appliance. He said that the issue we were having was fine, and nothing was wrong with it, but that we should have him repair some other parts (that were currently working fine). He was dismissive and rude, kept using a mocking tone of voice and air quotes regarding our original concern. He must have assumed that we knew nothing about the problem, and tried to get us to agree to over $400 in repairs for parts that were not even broken. I declined the service and I then asked him about another broken appliance in the house (general question, he didn't open it up). He said that the part that was needed would be over $150 (even though I told him that, direct from the manufacturer, it was $80) plus the labor and the markup on the part, the total would be about $450. I declined, and had to pay the $130 service fee. I purchased the part directly from the manufacturer, for $80, watched a few You Tube videos, and replaced it in 35 minutes. I am so disappointed by how rude and untrustworthy this technician was. He also seemed to have very little knowledge of both of these appliances (unless he was just lying to make a sale). I paid 130$ for a technician to help with an icemaker that was not working. The water line freezes so occasionally that has to be taken off and unfrozen. He tells my son, there is no power to the icemaker so I can't fix that and proceeded to say your mom could buy a new door. Ironically I went down there and the icemaker was making ice but from the time of service call, the refrigerator stopped cooling normally, it was at 52 degrees. I called to ask for help and receptionist who is challenging at best, said the next appointment that would work could be a Thursday, my son is a student, he was finished with school at 3 and I could only confirm 1-5, no effort to try to fix what they broke. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! They have thousands of excuses and rules, but no ethics and do not value their customer! We had newer ice maker that stopped making ice. No water getting to the ice maker at all. Called these clowns. The cocky service man walked in, looked at the ice maker and said - "you need a new ice maker because the arm is supposed to go up and down". We told him that there was no water getting to it but he was annoyed that we pushed back - how dare we know anything about our ice maker.. He also said that there was ice in the back of the freezer where the water comes in but still stuck to his story that the ice maker MUST cycle or it's broken. We said okay because he does this for a living. He was here less than 5 minutes. $400 later, shows up next day with new ice maker - installed it and left (we had to hook the water back up because that's the way it was when he got here - absolutely ridiculous with their unhelpful "rules"). The arm of the new ice maker acted exactly the same as the one he replaced! no arm going up and down. He jumped in his little van and left before checking anything.. Called Mr. Appliance, told the cust service lady that the new ice maker is doing the exact same thing as the old one, not cycling and no water getting to it. she said that it takes ice makers 24 to 48 hours to work. In my 55 years this has never been the case. again, I mentioned there is NO WATER getting to the ice maker. .. she kept repeating their policy about their 48 hours and how her ice maker took that long... wtf! More unhelpful "rules". Now we are out $400 and buying ice for the weekend. Annoyed, I called Whirlpool directly and they said that if the ice maker has ice where the line comes in (like the service guy said), it will not cycle so the original ice maker was perfectly fine, its most likely the water line froze. Also said that my ice maker does not take 24 to 48 hours to get water to it and if there's ice, you won't get any water. THIS made perfect sense, unlike the Mr. Appliance people. But I've already paid them... Monday - I called customer service lady back to say, surprise - just as we said, there was no water in the ice maker and waiting days did not miraculously cause water to appear... blah, blah, blah... They sent him back out, and IT WAS NOT THE ICE MAKER! - it was a frozen line.... It did not work until he thawed the line - something he did NOT do the first time before replacing the original ice maker. Now, if you make a mistake and admit it, great. I would have been nicer. This cocky guy stood there and LIED to us, saying some crap about heaters and water not being cold enough - which made absolutely no sense having had ice where the water fills the maker BOTH TIMES he was insisting that ice makers cycle with chunks of ice where water come in.. Per the manufacturer, if the line is frozen in the back (which it was BOTH times) it would not cycle! So... Mr Appliance, you have my money, but I guarantee others will see the truth and not give you theirs! You replaced a perfectly good ice maker, probably used it for another customer and charged them for it, for a frozen line! Customers should be valued, not ripped off! read more

Called dispatch line for a technician for a suspected leak between the shutoff valve and the dryer. Technician informed me that they don't work on hose lines despite being an appliance repair company. The dispatcher argued that it's a technicality and that I was charged for the diagnostic despite informing me that I would be billed for parts if needed. Very misleading and unapologetic cost me $150 to tell me something I already knew. Avoid this company and their shoddy dispatch services. read more

Paid almost 500 dollars to have our fridge repaired only to have the problem persist when I called and told them we were still having the problems they told me their technician did not notate everything that was done and I would be charged an additional 130 to come look at it. When I asked why would I be charged again for the same problem the woman started telling me I was asking her to "doctor" my complaint... long story short I spent a third of what it costs for a new fridge for their "services" that were ineffective only to be treated HORRIBLY by their staff. We had a technician, Chuck S., come out on Friday, August 15th, 2025, to fix our heating element in our dryer. He was very friendly and thorough and quick. He explained we needed to get our vents professionally cleaned out and gave us that contact info. We immediately scheduled with that company. By Sunday, August 17th, the dryer had already broken again so we immediately called and left a voicemail. A woman from the office called us in the morning on Monday, August 18th, and was BEYOND rude and would not listen to my husband and hung up on him. I called back 10 minutes later and spoke to the same woman and she also hung up on me. Then I called back a 3rd time and spoke with another person who was nicer, but still snarky and then explained that the warranty wasn't valid because we got it professionally cleaned out, but we actually had to make sure the speeds were fast enough. This piece is NOT stated in the warranty. Then I spoke with a manager, Chad, and he was equally rude and also had a terrible connection, perhaps they don't have enough money coming in to pay for a reliable phone service. I told him I would fax over the receipt but in return I wanted a phone call from the initial woman with a formal apology for hanging up on me and he would not agree to that. I will NEVER use this company again nor will I refer any business to them. Their customer service and warranty policy is terrible and what most would consider a "bait and switch" model. read more

Stay away. I had them out last week for two issues, water under the deli tray & a slowed ice maker. I was told after an inspection the ice maker was just fine so I ordered a repair & parts to improve drainage. After the visit, noticed the ice maker actually stopped working altogether & the fridge started making noises. Led me to cancel the repair as it was clear I needed a new fridge. That was something I had discussed at length with the repairman but he was adamant the ice maker was fine so the repair was the better decision. When I called to cancel & laughed at a $100 restocking fee for parts ordered less than 24 hours prior, the supervisor hung up on me. Had I had a more accurate inspection, the parts would have never been ordered so this review is solely on Mr. Appliance choosing to collect a $100 & dismiss me as a customer. They won't care about you & it's questionable how much they even know about appliances so again, stay away. read more

First, I will say the tech Andy was great and polite. The issue is with the $130 trip diagnosis and price to fix. Yes, they will apply the inflated diagnosis towards the price to fix but the cost to fix is so inflated, it is cost prohibited. Cost quote was $520. I am just technical enough that I could get the part from several suppliers for $150. Even if they charge an extra 50% on the price, that would be $225 plus a trip of $150 is still only $375. I believe their business plan is to make a majority of their income from trip charges and if some actually pays for the inflated price, then it's party time. read more

It needed some parts and Eric came a couple days later with the parts and repaired our dishwasher. He was wonderful. He was very responsible, professional and efficient. December 12, 2019: This company and in particular Andy Y, are top notch. I own several high-end appliances from Thermador and had a problem with both by oven thermometer and also had an oven glitch that kept shutting down and resetting. Andy came out, entered my home (only after putting on shoe covers to protect my floors from getting dirty) and quickly identified the problems. He also contacted the Thermador representatives to confirm his suspicions to be sure. A week later after getting the replacement parts and specific instructions on repairing the glitch, Andy came out with another tech to show him how to address a similar problem (cross training). They were in and out in no time and problems were resolved. I would highly recommend Mr. Appliance of Greater St Louis, especially if you own Thermador products as they are licensed service providers!! read more

BETTER FIND OUT IF THEY ARE INSURED BEFORE YOU HIRE THEM!! PART 1 They repaired my fridge but.. I ... had to find the part on line after the repairman gave me the estimate. They called me and said was not available an hour after the repairman left the first time. I went on line and found one in less than a minute. The owner, Chad, was not happy with me that I found the part from one of his reg suppliers, GRP, and then told me that particular supplier wasn't reliable about knowing their own inventory and he wouldn't use that part even if they actually had it in stock and shipped it because I bought it. WAIT!! WHAT!! So they said it might be a month or more before they could get the part and maybe not even then... and I found it in 5 minutes... We went round and round about his company installing it. First he said he wouldn't install it. Then Chad said they only use parts from 'their' suppliers, which he then realized it was. Then he said he'd install it but wouldn't warranty it even though it was from one of his suppliers....... we went round and round because he wasn't being logical or making any sense at all....... Finally I insisted we do a three way call and merged with the supplier, GRP. I cancelled my order so he could then order it while we were all on the phone ensuring one of us had the part! Then Chad (the owner) griped and complained about how unreliable GRP is and the part might not come ... the part was delivered to Mr Appliance in 2 days. To say Chad was ridiculously difficult to deal with... is an understatement. THEN... PART 2 RUINED BASEMENT FLOOR Two weeks after they did the repair I go down stairs only to find a big puddle of water on my pergo floor in the basement. The floor is ruined. The water supply line had been leaking (SLOW DRIP) from above. While the fridge was repaired I had watched the repairman as he was it. He happened to be a very, VERY large man. When he was almost finished and towards the end of the repair I watched while he was working behind the fridge while it was pulled out of it's space. ... it wasn't easy for him to maneuver in that tight space. SOMEHOW the water supply line just right at or slightly below floor level was damaged causing a tiny little crack with a slow drip. Easy to see how it could get stepped on... So the only logical explanation we can figure for the leak is he accidentally stepped on the supply hose at floor level causing the damage because there was NO leak prior. Chad insists his repairman isn't responsible at all. I asked Chad what the repairman was doing working behind the fridge since the repair was on the inside... Chad would NOT answer and not one time said of course it's possible that his guy stepped on it... Instead he was accusing me of mentioning his workmans size. I was not making fun or ridiculing the man in any way. I was stating the fact of the matter. The poor guy had a hard time maneuvering in that cubby space and wouldn't probably even know he stepped on the water line. Chad tried to deflect ANY responsibility on me by accusing me of mentioning his repair guys size...... and saying his guy would have known.... Today Chad sent a second guy out to take photos and he could see it was a very very slow drip and no one would have known immediately when the damage happened. NO way the first repairman (who was a very nice guy) would have known because it was a very slow drip... not like it was squirting water.... I expected Chad to do the right thing, have integrity and take responsibility for his workman but he categorically refused. Isn't that why they carry insurance?! Chad needs to do the right thing!! There were no leaks! Nothing was wrong with my water line prior! NOTHING!! As far as arriving on time etc all that was good. BUT Chads guy accidentally stepped on the line...... The technicians are professional and arrive in the two hour window given. You are sent a text with the name and photo of the tech just before they arrive so you know who is coming to your home. I had Leroy with Mr. Appliance come to service my wall oven which was 6 weeks out of warranty. Leroy gave me a repair price, but also showed how he looked up my problem on GE's website, and identified that there was a bad 'circuit board' that had been identified my GE in a service bullitin. He let me take a pic of the screen and told me to call GE. GE will now be replacing this, but if Leroy hadn't showed me this, I would have spent a whole lot of money. I was excited for same-day service, but sorely disappointed when they arrived. All I wanted was a replacement rubber lining for the washer (boot gasket) which was beset with mold. Not only did it take them a half hour (fiddling with an iPad) to figure out which part would be needed, but they didn't have it on hand, and the projected cost to replace was nearly the cost of the appliance (more than $500)!! Just to replace the rubber lining (which is available directly from LG for $155) with an estimated 30-45 minutes of labor. But of course once they come out you are committed to a $130 fee no matter what. So they got their $130 and I am left with nothing. moreover, they refused to provide me with a copy of the itemized estimate showing how they got to $500+. read more

Hired this company in July of 2021 to fix my ice maker. They came out four times over the next 15 months. The ice maker was never properly fixed as the same problem continued to occur. The company explained that even though I paid them a cumulative amount of $805 they were not responsible for the fact the ice maker was never properly fixed. They explained that they followed Samsung's procedures for fixing it. When I pressed for them to refund my amounts or at least net what was already paid against the cost of new repairs, I was denied because I was out of their 12 month warranty period. They refused to account for the fact they took my money and never properly addressed the root cause of the problem during the warranty period, even though I had them out to repair it several times. I will never hire or recommend them to anyone. read more

Disappointing experience. Technician was assigned to check out our refrigerator door, which had a broken hinge. Said he could order the part and would return to do the repair. Discovered that he had actually broken a second hinge (busted pieces were found elsewhere in the kitchen after he left). When called to report that it appeared a second hinge was broken, we were told the door could not be repaired. Fortunately, my husband watched a YouTube video, order $50 in parts, and repaired it himself (turned out the door COULD be repaired after all). After contacting the owner, was offered an email apology but nothing else, even though $89 is a good deal of money to pay to have to do the repairs yourself. read more

My dryer was making noise so I looked online to see what it could be and it said drum rollers. I called Mr. appliance and they were able to come out quickly and take a look. They told me there would be a $99 service charge that could be applied to the repair. The technician disassembled the dryer and said three rollers needed to be replaced and the total cost would be $564. I said that $99 would be deducted from that cost but he said "no the $99 is included in that cost. " I asked why this is so expensive. He said the rollers are over $100 each. I looked online and rollers are around $25-$35 depending on where you get them. I said that I did not want Mr. appliance to do the repair and that I would pay the service fee of $99.Later I went to the Samsung (dryer) website and the roller cost was $30 each. I had another service man from another company come out and replace the three rollers. Labor and material total cost was $160. He charged me $20/roller. read more

Called service 5:15 pm Wed and they had appt window narrowed to between 9 and 10 am the next day. Andy Y arrived punctually, made diagnosis inside of 10 minutes and provided reasonable options for blocked drain pan n valve leading to recurring locked freezer drawer on 7 yo Samsung reefer. Got the drawer to open, removed ice, stripped unit down front n back, cleaned dual freezer compartment drain tubes showing both to me, filled with very gnarly, moldy scummy stuff. I paid the $89 minimum diagnostic fee plus another $54 or so as Andy's work came to $143 which the minimum fee was credited toward. I could have googled more self repair vids, spent thrice the time making a mess and twice the $$$ for Andy or others to fix my inevitable misadventure. So naturally I was very happy to get my freezer back in less than 24 hours for $143. Your mileage may vary! read more

Details like trip charges, minimum bill amount, price by the repair (I guess like at the car dealer, not by time spent). 30 minutes work, $70 part bill equaled $269 bill, for a dryer that could be replace for $400ish. But hey we got a one year warranty. Called to voice my concerns to the "Office Manager" and got double talk back for an explanation.
