If the customer isn't satisfied, fix it, and you won't have to defend yourself... but defend yourself first, and you lose a customer. Months later, these people have had the gall to call my completely fair review of the poor job they did at my house as "slanderous", called my wife a liar, and would rather fight with customers than own up to their shortcomings. That's what you get when you work with them, apparently, but I have the pictures and the quote they have BEFORE doing the work to challenge all their BS. Not worth your time, or money. Period.

This was my first time using a contractor for something. Darek, the owner, was very kind, patient…read moreand thorough from start to finish. The estimate he gave me was very detailed, explaining each step of the work with associated costs, and it was the lowest of three estimates I got. Even though the work ended up costing quite a bit more than the original estimate due to unforeseen circumstances, it was still the lowest cost. I was worried about having no kitchen during the work (4 days) but each day when the crew was finished, they spent half an hour rolling back the plastics, vaccuming and cleaning up so I was able to access everything and use my kitchen! Work done was removing soffitt above cabinets, rewiring electric, setting up a vent system for a hood fan, installing a microwave hood, raising the cabinets and priming the walls (I painted). That was another thing I liked about Darek -- he told me anything I wanted to do myself just let him know and he'd take it off the bill. I am usually a do-it-your-selfer but this work was all beyond my skills&strength. I'm extremely pleased with the results and would highly recommend Darek and his crew, Jarek and Isaac.

Being utterly frustrated and unable to find reliable recommendations in this area, I heard from another mom that Bruce Greenberg who owns Tailor Made Improvements did a wonderful job at her home and is trustworthy and affordable. Sounding too good to be true, we received a quote to remove wallpaper, re-paint, remove carpeting 2 of the bedrooms and repair some water damage in the kitchen and it totaled less than $1500 for EVERYTHING. My husband being skeptical was unsure if they would show up as Bruce didn't even ask for a deposit and he was supplying all the materials. Not only did they show up, but Bruce and 2 other very polite LICENSED workers came and got right to work. They worked for the last 4 days---even showing up at 8am with the foot of snow that was dumped on us last night! The rooms are impeccably done, they were considerate of our 2 small children and cleaned up beautifully. Now we are planning the exterior painting and some other small work that remains to be done when the weather improves. I feel so much better knowing that Bruce and Tailor Made Improvements can be called upon now whether we decide to build out a garage or just get some handyman help around the house and we won't be taken advantage of due to a North Shore address. For the recent basement project, we decided to meld both modern and vintage elegance with maximum functionality. They were able to re-build our stairs (to code), add new windows, create a comfortable media room with fireplace and built-in audio, a music room for our grand piano, a modern office space, a guest bedroom with en suite and steam shower, a laundry room, and enough storage to meet our needs. In the process, we got a new furnace and duct work, hot water heater, updated electrical, and insulation. We're just as excited by what we don't see as by what we do see! We recently moved into a condo loft with great potential, but that needed a major facelift. The bathroom in its original state featured a gigantic step-in jacuzzi tub, skylights with pull-down shades, a sloping ceiling, and an odd heating duct jutting out of the tub's base (not to mention the dreadful late-80's tile, vanity and fixtures). We hired Delta Star Group Inc. to take on the project for a number of reasons: - They came highly recommended from a number of our friends in the Chicago area. - Even during our very first meeting, they came prepared with a portfolio of their work, and took detailed measurements of every single nook & cranny. - Their pricing was extremely fair and the quote was neatly organized, with each line item having it's own explanation and corresponding charge. - The Delta Star representative went with us to pick out every detail of the bathroom from the tile to the fixtures (now who really does that these days?) and called us every other day to walk us through every step of the process, which impressed us greatly. The entire bathroom renovation took only about 4 weeks. During this time, we were particularly impressed with the level of attention to detail Delta Star put into every aspect of the bathroom. We had originally wanted an invisible drain installed, but crossed it off our list due to the additional $800 it would have added to our budget. Delta Star built us a custom made one FREE OF CHARGE, and it looked amazing. Wow. All in all, you will not get better workmanship and customer service for your money in all of Chicagoland when it comes to any kind of home renovation project. I cannot recommend Delta Star Group highly enough, as there was never one single moment I felt I was being taken advantage of or led astray. If you are new home buyers and have never done the renovation thing (like we hadn't) call them up TODAY and book them for your next project. You will want to make sure you reserve them far in advance, as they sometimes have a client waiting list of up to 1 year (that's how good they are!).
