Not a fan. Cute atmosphere, they had a handful of patrons when we visited on a Saturday afternoon. We also had good service and our waitress was very kind which was nice.... The food though, meh. The chicken Alfredo was less than desirable. The Alfredo tasted like some basic mess from a can ( no way it was homemade). I wanted so badly to add some decent high-quality butter, and Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese to it to make it actually taste not so boring and bland. But alas I'm not the chef. Additionally the cost of the calzone when you had to add simple fixings to it is absurd. The manager said it was "all he had ever seen" in preparing a menu...to set a calzone base with cheese and charge for every single topping at least $2+ ...BUT he needs to expand his horizons and do further research because this is NOT the way. Set some simple base calzones (3cheese/4 cheese, a meat lovers, and a spinach & ricotta, etc.) THEN offer a build your own or something like it. The calzone even after additions was nothing to write home about. We were also disappointed in the quality of the Caesar dressing in our side salads. Very light, not much flavor and basic. This place just overall did not meet our expectations which is disappointing, especially for the price. Service excellent! Came in tonight because Mozzafiato's pizza is usually my go-to in Corpus, so I was really looking forward to dinner. We ordered the pepperoni pizza, a white pizza with spinach and chicken, and the mozzarella sticks. Usually, everything is incredibly flavorful and we can easily finish two whole pizzas. The mozzarella sticks are normally so hot when they hit the table that you have to wait before eating them, and they've always had great flavor. Unfortunately, tonight was very different. The biggest disappointment across everything we ordered was the lack of flavor. We all felt like the pizzas were missing depth -- almost like they needed more seasoning or salt. I'm not sure if the cheese was different tonight, but it just didn't have the same flavor we're used to. The mozzarella sticks were especially disappointing; the breading was crispy and the sauce was decent, but the cheese itself tasted almost like plastic and was strangely cold and lacking flavor. To be fair, the two servers working tonight were clearly hustling and doing everything they could. They were working the entire restaurant and getting food out as promptly as possible, even though it looked like some items had to sit in the window for a bit. I definitely don't fault them for the experience. Overall, the food was filling, but unfortunately not satisfying tonight. I've had much better experiences here in the past, which is why this visit was especially disappointing. The place is cute, like a NYC style dining area with a patio outside. Plenty of parking when we went. Staff was friendly, owner checked on us a couple of times. Food was very underwhelming. We ordered pasta and a calzone with side salads. The salads came out first, they were ok but dressing seemed like something out of a jar. Calzone was also ok. Weird consistency, dough was good. The toppings did seem fresh, but were masked by the consistency of the cheese filling. My wife ordered the Alfredo chicken and didn't eat most of it. The sauce also seemed like something out of a jar, prego instead of fresh. For the price the food was not worth it. The calzone was $17 to start then $1.50-2.50 for each topping. We have found the best pizza so far in Corpus!!! Speaking from my experience only so foodies don't get upset!! The atmosphere is quite homey. A little loud in the main room but we were sat in the side room and it was quite pleasant. Our server was awesome!! Forgot her name (again I'm bad with servers names) but she was a young lady with tattoos if that helps out. Now for the food! My wife had a small Greek salad called The Zeus. First, enter the restaurant from the back parking lot. Entering from the front on Staples there is a large step up into the restaurant. Lots of room, atmosphere is open and casual. We ordered the lemon pepper wings for appetizer. They were large sized and the seasoning was just right! Salads were ordered and the side salad is a good size and several to choose from. This was such a great slice! The crust was perfectly crisp, seasoned sauce, fresh ingredients, and good ambiance. We added some hot honey on their Harbor Bridge pizza and were in heaven. It's texturally perfect with the snap of the crust, soft ricotta, the chew of the sausage, and the flavor bombs of cherry tomato. The cheese pull was absolutely insane and the marinara to wash it down with was perfect. After, we enjoyed an Il Martino pizza & also built our own pizza. The Il Martino was out of this world tasty and unique: the white sauce, the chorizo, the red onions and cilantro sheeeesh! The only thing I would have changed myself was maybe without the serranos, usually we enjoy them but yesterday they were extremely spicy‍ The pizza we built was insane too We really enjoyed that there was an option to choose between red sauce, white sauce, and pesto for the base with over 15 toppings to choose from: this really gives you range to go wild & enjoy different offerings. We were an out-of-towner with puppies. This place came up with our fav' Yelp' search. So we called ahead to avoid embarrassing ourselves if the place allowed dogs or had a designated area. Roxy was so nice and friendly & said, "Come on over." The place can be easy to miss, so slow down and read the sign. We got a private table in the back-door parking area right away. The food was marvelous!! We ordered a Margarita with anchovies on top. Also had some fried mozzarella, which was served hot and melty inside!! By the time we could take pictures, we had already finished half!! The thin crust was so chewy, yummy, with basil aroma!! Of course, sharing with our puppies proved the topping was delicious! Was hesitant to try this place because it had so few reviews but OMG!! I'm so glad we came here. The food here is incredible. You can tell they make the pizza from scratch with fresh ingredients. We started with the bread basket, and the marinara is phenomenal--rich, balanced, clearly house-made, and honestly good enough to order on its own. Then the test that matters: the classic pepperoni pizza--my baseline for judging any pizza place. Came by on a Saturday (three weeks ago) and the line was out the door and with such limited seating, we decided to skip. But wifie insisted she wanted to try it, so I went in to order a take-out pie on Sunday. I ordered the La Carne large and a couple of extra toppings and on advise ordered a large Zeus salad. So I'm going to account to MY part in this to the fact they were packed and things felt rushed all around me. So, a large La Carne is $26 and each topping (mushrooms and black olives) were $1.50 each. All told, that's $29 for a large meaty pizza. The salad adds $10. I should have done the math but just felt happy to being served. "That will be $54 (and change)...I hand over cash and get a little back. So $55 for a pizza and salad. What's even MORE poetic is that I drive all the way back across town and there isn't an ounce...a SCRAP of meat on the pizza. Given the drive I was almost willing to accept that I'd been taken but not when I sat for a second and decided I'm heading back over. I didn't have a receipt...they didn't give me one. I took it back in and showed someone NEW (original order take I'm told was the owner) was nowhere to be seen. I was very lucky they took my word about the original order. Had to wait for a new pie and finally get back home. The pizza was OK, I've definitely had better...but given what I had to go through...it most definitely is nothing special enough to warrant the trip across town. Advice I can give? If you're a carnivore, go with the La Carne! Calzone: perfectly cooked, crispy crust and HOT stuffing (could use extra side of marinara sauce).
