If I could rate this restaurant zero stars, I would. This will be a long rant but purely facts and hopefully can either help the owners to make positive changes or to warn potential customers and save them a very frustrating experience. Firstly, this was not my first time eating at Panjo's and I HATE leaving bad reviews for local restaurants because it can hurt business. But... here we are. I arrived to restaurant at 6pm and placed an online order by 6:15pm that was planned to eat at the restaurant. Ordered a small thin crust pizza and meatball sandwich. Estimated wait time is 40-50 min (which is already a long wait time) but it's a local business and usually worth the wait. I was also with a group of maybe 8 that all placed their own orders either online or in person. Good conversation and company makes the long wait time easier to manage. After 1hr wait I head to counter and get in line, behind other visibly upset customers. Reach register at approx 7:30pm and told another 15-20 min for order to be ready. With a smile, I ask them to please call my name when ready since I am seated in restaurant. During this next wait period, my friend received a text alert that her online order was cancelled after waiting over an hr already. Back up to register at 7:50pm and told another 15-20 min but that my food is going into oven right at the moment. Frustrated but still remaining calm. Back to the register 8:05pm (1hr, 50min after placing order) checking on status of order. Staff cannot find my order ticket or food, searched for 5-10 min. Asked to produce a receipt to which I explain my order was online, provided order name again. Finally told that my small pizza is ready but sandwich not cooked yet so will be another 10 min. Getting harder to remain friendly but promised that my sandwich was going into oven now. Return back to counter 10 min later and see my cooked sandwich sitting on prep table. Blonde guy at register (who has been running between drink dispensers, walkin cooler, telephones, registers, drink coolers, credit cards, etc) walks over and places bare hands on my sandwich to fold in plain sight. I immediately tell him that I'm not eating that sandwich to which he then realizes his mistake. Mean while, a guy working the ovens (Luigi hat) tries to tell me that blonde guys hands are clean and not an issue. I explained that hands are dirty due to not washing hands before touching my food and Luigi guy tries to argue with me for 5 min saying "You're not going to get sick from that"... which is a WHOLE OTHER ISSUE. Luigi guy stated they are busy to which I acknowledged but explained I have been patient long enough and now have to wait even longer. Also, to add, cashiers have been taking new orders over the phone this entire time. I stated maybe they should stop taking new orders while they catch up and was told "company policy is that we don't stop taking orders till doors close". I asked for a refund for sandwich and I will just take the pizza to which blonde guy states no refunds but disappears to call the "big boss" to see if I can get a gift card for credit. He returns and states he can place value of sandwich on gift card or remake. I had to ask that the sandwich be placed in the oven now because it was just going to be added to the queue. I stood to side of counter to watch as they remade and packed my sandwich because they had such a "no effs" attitude that I didn't trust they weren't going to try to repackage the original sandwich. Finally at 8:54pm, I received my cold pizza that was ready at 8:05pm plus my sandwich to which I took home and the food was nothing to praise. Total wait time of 2hr, 38min and now I have lost all respect for the business. I swear, training must involve memorizing the tag line 10-15 min more and zero food handling. I would love to think that maybe my order just fell through the cracks but that's not the case, every other person I was with had similar experience. Also witnessed SEVERAL others frustrated with similar experiences and asking for refunds. Hence their no refund policy because they would be bleeding money. Also very confusing why orders were taking so long since there were lots of workers there. Very saddening that this restaurant has gone downhill. Please do better. So many positive reviews because of the nostalgia but customers beware. read more

Very nostalgic. Mold around the air conditioner vents. Lots of fruit flies. Probably the worst pizza I've ever had. Canned sauce, canned mushrooms. A large pizza and a pitcher of beer was $50. Been wanting to try for a while. I'd only go back if someone invited me. They called your number out to pick up the pizza, felt like it was empty enough that the staff could have brought me the pizza, esp after leaving a tip. Also happy we opted no shrimp on what we ordered. We saw it on someone else's pizza and it looked like shrimp you'd find in a cup of noodles. read more

My family and I have been coming to Panjo's since they opened all those years ago. It's always been a family tradition and favorite when we are in town. However last night was the worst experience ever. My daughter and I both ordered pizzas. Our wait time was 45-50 min not surprised because it was a Saturday night. We get there and waited. I go into Panjo's to pick up both of our orders ( she had 2 small children that were ready to be back home). My order was ready, both the other order for "John" would be at least another 15 min. I asked why and was told they were placed at separate times. I explained they were placed within 2 minutes of each other, but sorry was all I was told. After 20 Min I went to check on the order and it took him awhile to find out then came back and said "someone" put on the wrong meat they had to redo it, but only about 5 minutes and I'm really sorry. I waited 10 they finally boxed it up. The guy at the counter went over both orders with me. I did not look at the pizzas, 1 because it's Panjo's and 2 after waiting this long how could it be wrong . We then made our way back to Rockport where John's entire order was wrong. My daughter gave very specific instructions for each pizza ordered and they did not even bother to look at that. She asked for a few items to be omitted, but they were not. Wrong meat on my granddaughters Pizza. Together we spent over $100 on this food, plus the long wait. Again I understand it was a Saturday night, but this was unacceptable. The whole time I waited I could see face gestures and Looks in my direction. Just not the service I'm used to at this establishment. My son in law was over it by the time I got back and figured if this is how they treated me there they would not do anything to make it right if he called to complain. When you're trying to feed small kids and go out of your way for one of your favorite places this was such a huge disappointment. Managers failed on quality control. The pizza was pretty good but the wait time was ridiculous. A 45 minute wait for a simple pizza is way too long especially considering the restaurant was maybe one third full. Order ahead and kill some time before you go and maybe you'll have a better experience. read more

The wait time was extremely long--I waited nearly an hour for just one pizza. There were more than 10 employees on shift, so I'm not sure why it took so long. On top of that, I paid $45 for pizza and breadsticks, which makes the experience even more frustrating. read more

Came in today 1st time, new to the area from Long Island. This is NOT pizza, by any stretch. This was cheese on a cracker, and it was awful. DiGorno's is better. I know there are fine folk here who say nice things about the pizza, but you people simply just don't know what you don't know about real pizza. I've been coming to Panjo's since I was a kid and have always loved the food and service here. It's always been one of my family's favorite spots. Unfortunately, today was very disappointing. The pizza we received was completely burnt -- black all around the edges and bottom -- and it had a strange taste that's never been the case before. When we brought it to attention, Nat G. argued with us, saying that just because she didn't think it was burnt doesn't mean it wasn't. She refused to replace the pizza and was extremely rude, even using derogatory language. That kind of behavior is shocking and not at all what we expect from Panjo's. We've been loyal customers for years, but this experience left a very bad impression. I truly hope the owners or management take action, because Nat G's behavior and attitude are a huge disappointment to such a legendary place. read more

Walking in. The entire staff looks under 25. No adults at all. Big family style tables. Pitchers of beer. I can see the appeal for children's birthday party's since kids don't understand what good pizza tastes like. Ordered a large Pepperoni took 45 mins to get it. Crust was as hard as a rock. Ambience - old school style pizza parlor, family friendly, kept very clean inside Wings - not crispy, but served very hot (temperature) Blue cheese dressing - big portioned cup, very thick Ranch dressing - same quality as the blue cheese dressing Pizza - 14" meat lover's, average flavor, TONS of meat, thin crust that was not very crispy, not much cheese on the pizza 3 stars for effort. Worth the wait. Expect a long wait for food to be ready on weekend because it's busy, you can call and order ahead which I'd recommend. Garlic cheese bread is delicious and the pizza has the perfect amount of crisp. Meat lovers pizza is heavy with the toppings which is a definite plus. Love the atmosphere, love the cold beer. When the text told us when to arrive we showed up and were told it would be another 25 minutes and that their Ap "didn't work that well". Pizza is good but 40 minutes for a pizza is just crazy. I'd probably go back but I recommend to call in your pizza ahead of time. They were at half capacity so on a busy night it could take an hour to an hour and a half I'm guessing. read more
