Manager of the restaurant (could be owner also) was a polite and energetic person who showed utmost care to the customer with a friendly smile all the time. So, all the staff were fantastic. Secondly, the ambience was also very good, it was not outdated but more matched to the type of food served. So, we loved it. All the prices in the menu was striked off and it threw us a bit out of balance as they mentioned that the new prices are getting outdated. This could be because, they may be taking over the restaurant from someone else and probably not ready with new prices for the dishes. But we would prefer to know exactly how much we are spending for a dish that we want to eat transparently. Lets come to the food part. Some of the things that we experienced. When we sat down and starters were about to be served, my daughter was given a plate which was not washed properly and had food stains. When we pointed it out , they took care of it immediately. The waiting time for the starters itself was a bit too high, we felt, as we waited more than 35 minutes for the starters to arrive. Quality of the starters in respect to the taste of the food, was average at best. Portions were not big, but we are ok with that, however the taste was not up to the mark. Main course - Naan bread were fresh as was very well done. Both veg and non veg main courses were bit bland and lacked proper seasoning. Again, we waited a long time between starters and main course. As we are big time foodies, and we like to try out new restaurants and we have reasonably a good pallet and so along with service ambience and everything, taste of food is very very important for us and i think thats where Purnima needs to put a bit more effort and make delicious dishes. Sorry, could not justify myself to go more than 2 stars.

So good! As a person who loves Indian food this is a great restaurant. More casual and trendy but…read morestill serves authentic Indian. The lunch special was great. I was able to get a curry and a drink for $12. My only complaint is I wish the sampler offered more of the meats. My partner and I had to share a shrimp and a piece of salmon. I believe it should be at least two of each item on the sampler. I would definitely recommend going here and I will be back to try more things from the menu.

I wanted to eat something not as heavy as I might normally try at a place like this so I opted for the Chickpea Curry, which came with rice. It was very good and the roti I ordered to accompany it made a nice complement. The location was rather convenient for me as it was between the New St. Station and my hotel. It was easy to find and the seating capacity was fairly plentiful. I was seated right away when I walked in despite the fact that it was relatively busy. I also appreciated their hours as they are open until 10 PM on weekdays and later on weekends. That allowed me to walk in at about 9:15 on a Saturday and not feel rushed to finish my meal. The service was decent. I did not have to wait too long before my server attended to me. My food came out in a reasonable time once my order was placed. The prices were also fairly good for a city centre location. My final cost for everything was just over £17, which was about $22 with the conversion rate at the time. This was a decent deal considering the quality of the fare. The one thing I did not personally like was the excessively loud atmosphere. This was definitely a place for 20-somethings, which meant music at an excessive volume. Unfortunately, this was not to my taste. Add to that a dining room full of people trying to talk over that music and you have an atmosphere that could be surmised to be the antithesis of relaxing. But it all depends on what you are looking for, I suppose. And to be fair, it was not the loudest I've experienced, even on this trip. While I would give this place less than favorable marks for atmosphere, the menu choices were quite nice, the food was very good, the service was decent and the prices were reasonable. I think an overall rating of 4 stars was appropriate. And if you like atmospheres such as what I described, then you might consider it a five-star place.

With so many great-tasting and reasonably-priced Indian food options around, it is quite impressive that a higher end, pricier Indian restaurant like Pushkar has established a loyal clientele. Pushkar sets itself apart from other Indian restaurants in the area due to its upscale setting, the high quality of its food ingredients, and especially its creative dessert offerings. My first dining experience at Pushkar was purely by chance. I was staying near Brindley Place, and happened to be walking past the restaurant, when I decided to stop and check out the menu. The duck masala sounded interesting, so I decided to try it, and it definitely exceeded my expectations. The thick tomato-based curry had a fantastic flavor profile that consisted of garlic, ginger, black pepper and red chilies. It paired well with basmati rice and a side of raita. Since my first visit, I have dined at Pushkar a few more times, and have always enjoyed everything I have tried. The murgh korma stands out as a rich, creamy, nutty curry dish that is perfect for you if you are in the mood for something less spicy. The innovative desserts at Pushkar are a major draw for me. The gajar ka halwa tart with pistachio ice cream is my personal favorite. The garam masala brulee sounded interesting, but didn't taste too different from regular crème brulee; the garam masala in it was really only a hint of cinnamon. It still was pretty tasty. The chocomosa is a filo samosa filled with chocolate and roast almonds, and is served with a scoop of cappuccino ice cream. Why had nobody else ever thought of creating a chocolate samosa, and if they did, why had I never eaten one before? Friends, if you find yourselves in Brummy, you must treat yourselves to a meal at Pushkar. It is truly deserving of all of the awards that have been bestowed upon it, including the 2015 British Curry Award, the 2015 Best of Broad Street Award, and the 2015 English Curry Award.

The Vine for dinner?! Yes, please!!!…read more Sooo, it's too bad that I'm working in Birmingham. Otherwise, I'd become a regular here. I came here because Hitesh C. Recommended this place to me. It sounded attractive because I've never heard of Indian BBQ. Indian + BBQ are two words I've never heard together before. Add "pub" to this equation --- UNHEARD OF! Indian BBQ Pub. I don't think we have that in the states... :( **By the way, I'm not necessarily "into" pubs, but because of the two words preceding pub for this place, I decided that it sounds unique enough! Indian BBQ Pub, here I come! So, what is so great about this place that I'm going to give it 5 stars after just one visit? Ambience: as you can see from the picture I posted, it's a very comfortable looking place - nothing fancy as it is only a pub! The inside is actually quite large and spacious. There are a total of about 5 or 6 rooms (for seating). The first 3 rooms are tiny to small rooms (between 3-6 mini-tables). There are two larger Roos with many tables: 1 large room is located in the pub, whereas the other larger room is where the BBQ roast is. I believe there was a medium sized room as well. Very casual and comfortable place. (Confession!! I wanted to take more pics of the place inside to show you guys what it looks like, but ... I didn't want to look like TOO much of a tourist, so I tried to play it cool. Maybe next time I'll be bold enough. Taking pics of the food ... that was a reach for me here! ;) ......) Cost: the price is right!!!! The two beers we ordered cost 3.20 GBP. 2 orders of split roast chicken were just over 5 GBP. The cost of curries were 3-4 GBP. Rice was approximately 1.5 GBP. Whatever the prices are now and I'm sure will be ... They're reasonable!! Its not outrageous! Food: good. All of it was good. I won't even try to describe. Shout out to Hitesh C. For the heads up about this place. Absolutely loved it!!!
